Simply put, this product does not work. Unfortunately, I threw out the packing material so now I can't return it and I am stuck with this waste of space. I've tried everything I can think of and I have searched the websites in an attempt to find out what I am doing wrong. I am now quite sure it is not me. This machine just does not carbonate to a level I would consider acceptable.

I have units in several homes and gave one to our son and my brother. One in out summer home malfunctioned (the part which is pushed down to carbonate the water locked and could not be depressed). The unit I bought to replace it had the same problem. I called the company and the representative said the canister had to be torqued hard (over torqued) and it worked easily... one time only. It still works but I have to hit the part to make it go down and then it works easily until the next bottle... at which point I have to hit it again one time. I think there is a quality control problem with that particular model (lowest cost unit) however, I am a SodaStream fan and committed to the concept and environmental and convenience benefits

There are a lot of great things about this machine, it's small, it doesn't require power, and when it works, it works really well. However, the first one we owned didn't last six months before a spring fell out and the machine stopped carbonating our water. Our replacement machine similarly broke, except the top flew off and a piece of metal almost hit me in the eye. This was after maybe four months. Poorly made and dangerous, so I can't recommend the product at all.

I have had a Sodastream for over 6 years. Has saved me money year after year as I was buying lots of bottles of carbonated water. Bought this one for my son to use in his espresso stand to make Italian Sodas. Fresh bubbles everytime.

I love this prodcut because it saves me 300 dollars per year, and it also tastes great! It works so well that I can not wait to drink the water. Thank you Sodastream! Sherri

I got this as a Christmas gift. I have been a 2 to 3 can of Pop guy for years. I know the sugar is bad for me and that the artificial sweeteners in diet soda are equally bad (if not worse) for your health. I tried drinking water but could never tolerate the lack of taste. Now I drink 2 to 3 liters of soda a day and rarely drink anything else. It even makes a great mixer for many cocktails. As for the machine, it appears to be rather cheaply made and took a while to find just the right way to use it. Thus the 4 stars instead of 5. Findings: 1. The CO2 bottle needs to be threaded tightly into the machine. If not, it produces very little carbonation. 2. I found that 3 short blasts (about 1 second each) produced the amount of carbonation that I prefered. 3. The bottle needs to be pressed back against the machine and held there while carbonating. Bottom line I will never again be without one of these. Next time I may check out a higher line model.

I was going through about 2 to 3 cases of club soda a week after I stopped drinking alcohol for "Dryuary". Not only does this machine make great tasting seltzer water it has saved me a ton of cash already. A squeeze of fresh lime and you have your own LaCroix water =)

I bought this initially through a third party seller. It was defective, and an outdated model. Soda Stream did an amazing job of replacing my unit. The compact Splash Play is a good addition to our beverage counter. I am interested in seeing how long the Co2 canister lasts. The product is sleek and attractive.

Got the splash and couldn't be happier. My first soda maker and was deciding between this and the fancier versions. But decided on this one because it can accommodate the larger CO2 cartridge. Couldn't be happier and actually very pleased that I don't have to plug it in.

My guests are super impressed by this product. Never will buy a canned water again.

I purchased for hubby at xmas who drinks ALOT of seltzer and an occasional pepsi/ginger ale with take out or a cocktail. We have had great results with making plain seltzer, we use cold water from brita pitcher and 3 long presses of CO. I add some fresh lemon squeeze to add flavor. I make it before a meal and the 1L is done by the end. This purchased was refered to us by a pal at my job. So two new satisfied people!

Like many other reviews, my old unit seemed more efficient. There is a significant amount of gas that is expelled at the end of the charge cycle. I am a sodastream fan, but not of this particular unit. I would not recommend this one.

Works great! No more plastic bottles! Some reviews said not enough bubbles. With 3 pumps, its super bubbly.

I too am a long time customer and after about 8 years of use my wonderful old "soda club, 1st edition" broke in August and I bought this great design as a replacement. The first machine had some broken parts inside (a spring fell out) and so thinking this is why it wasn't carbonating customer service sent me a replacement. Sadly this machine does not work, and like other reviewers complaints, it makes little to no carbonation. How they can keep this on the market is beyond me. I will return again and get an older model. Very disappointed.

I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. Easy to use, great product, easy to adjust sweetness. Can't wait to try other flavors. I would highly recommend this product!!

I really like the Sodastream Play. My only concern is that the water tastes too flat to me unless I pump it 4 times for 2 seconds each, when I think I am only supposed to do it twice. I am worried that I will run out of the carbonation quickly and thus it will be more expensive than I anticipated. Time will tell. If that is the case, I may need to lower my rating.

I drink a lot of soda, which means going to the store regularly, buying several 2 Liter bottles and storing them on the countertop (nowhere else to put them). Not only does this practice take up valuable countertop space, all of those bottles of soda on the counter are unsightly. Sodastream, on the other hand, takes up less space on the counter and this appliance is not an eyesore. It fits the look of the kitchen. The bottles of flavoring are small so they easily fit inside the cabinet. I did run into a problem. Samantha at Customer Service has been very helpful. All I had to do was mention the problem and she took care of everything. I didn't have to do anything else.

Not so happy with this product. The water enhancer are not too tasty

I got my husband a SodaStream for his birthday, and he is enjoying it a lot. We were spending a lot of money on fizzy water, and because the grocery store is only 3 blocks form the house I was walking there and buying the stuff all the time, and it's heavy to carry home. Also we were feeling bad about all the bottles landing in the recycling all the time. SodaStream has the answer for all of those problems, and it's fun. We are enjoying making up our own recipes for club soda (our favorite uses a half measure of natural lemon flavor, then we mix a tiny sprinkle of natural pink Himalayan slat and a tiny pinch of baking soda in a bit of the carbonated water then put it back in the bottle) and drinking the flavors we bought, too. We never run out of soda anymore. The carbonator gives no warning of when it is going to run out, but I solved that problem by buying an extra. I'll just get another whenever one runs out and stay one ahead all the time.

I looked this over really good. (it's specks) What I liked about this one. 1. The bottle snaps in, not screws in. I've had a little bit of a hard time some times with my Jet screwing the bottle in but I still like my SodaStream jet though. But I did like the ease of use on this one from what I understand from the video demo. 2. The Jet and the Play can also use the 130L Co2 bottles if one chooses. I also love SodaStream because I can make Sparkling Water when I want it. The bottles of Sparkling Water that you buy at the Store don't hold the Carbonation very long once opened. Reason being, the lid does not have a good seal like the SodaStream bottles. The Soda Stream bottle are of very good quality and the lids have a silicone seal in them. I highly recommend this if you want Sparkling Water when you want to make it. And if you someday want to use a 130L Co2 bottle, make sure the SodaStream you choose is compatible with it. Also The SodaStream mixes do not have high fructose corn syrup. High Fructose Corn Syrup makes people gain weight.

I have had a Sodastream for several years, since they first came out. It was replaced with the Sodastream Splash, and is nothing like the old one. I have to push the top down 6-7 tmes before anything will happen, and I can't get nice fizzy water like I used to. Unfortunately they don't offer the old original one.

It doesn't work like the old one... or perhaps I purchased a lemon. Water stays fizzy for less than ten minutes. Once capped in the bottle provided it is flat within the half hour. Quite disappointing. I have read all instructions and done the recommended quick fixes. Having used this product in the past with significantly better results I had hoped that the newer version would exceed my expectations; on the contrary, my expectations were not met in the least. Super bummer. It's a nice looking product (hence my decision to purchase the Play rather than the older model my parents own and adore) but clearly, as with much in life, looks aren't everything!

Our son has this model and I loved how easy it is to use. We received an earlier model which you needed to screw the bottle on with, ok but took getting used to. We're trying to consume more water and less canned sweet drinks and this makes it very enjoyable, especially when adding fruit juices.

Really disappointed with this machine. I'm visiting my mother for the summer and she bought it for me because I have the older model at home. Like other reviewers here, I barely get any carbonation.

The red is nice does not go with anything. But I still like it

My husband loves, his soda fountain. I am upgrading for him to play because I broke his. I am getting mad side eye. He and I love the very fresh taste of the,soda and the flavor varieties. Yum!

If you follow the instructions you will get no carbonation!---SO we do not let it return to the top( because it releases pressure)and keep pumping until we get the familiar burp. Carbonator is difficult to put in and take our for someone with hand problems. WE DO LIKE the snap on feature and the bright color and design.
