This tape is unusual in that it instantly adheres to itself but not much else. This sounds odd but for certain applications it's a real miracle. I use it to hold my VA leg prosthesis together. Since it doesn't adhere well initially you might want to tape down the end to start. Put good stretch tension on it and as soon as the first loop is completed the tape will adhere to itself. Overlap at least 50% between turns for best results. The final turn should overlap 100%. The tape comes with an easily removable backing to keep it from adhering to itself on the roll. Once stuck, it STAYS stuck, no repositioning allowed!

I have an old 2-function swivel sprayer in the faucet of a utility sink in my garage that was leaking. The whole faucet will need to be replaced but not just yet. I managed to seal the leak in the swivel mechanism with this tape. First there were small drops coming out of the fix but I guess the self-fusing silicone needed a couple of days of curing with warmer temperatures and now the seal is quite tight. Very satisfied with this quick fix. I cut the tape along the length (to 1/2 an inch in width) because the working area was small but that was easy to do.

I'm not sure how people are having a hard time with this product. I don't leave many reviews, but I will for this since it was so effective for me. T Junction on my forced-hot-water pipe got a little drip-drip during some remodeling in our basement. It must have moved after being in one spot for a long time. My guess is the solder cracked, but it was difficult to see WHERE the leak was exactly. I tried Flex Tape. It just dribbled out the side. I tried plumbers putty (the kind you have to mix and smell bad and turns rock hard when it's cured) and it didn't work - in spite of that being my go-to for this sort of thing for years. Tried flex tape AND the putty. NO DICE. Friend of mine suggested silicon tape. Went and picked up a black roll of this. Instantly fixed. Wish I would have went with this to start with, would have saved about two gallons of hot water from leaking out. It was a difficult placement for anything other than cutting and resoldering to work on. Happened on the weekend, so I wouldn't want to call a plumber and pay the emergency fee. To be honest, I'm probably just going to leave it like this until it leaks again. Saved me a fortune.

I haven't use this black version yet, but I sure it works as well as the clear. I used it on a leaking water line and it worked great. Be sure to stretch the tape as you are wrapping it around the leak.

This tape was excellent for stopping a leak in my icemaker waterline at the filter connection. My first attempt did not stop the leak, but on my second attempt I made sure to stretch the tape tightly around the leak and the leaking stopped. It was leaking while I was taping it and it sealed perfectly. Now I can take my time on replacing this waterline.

I used the product to secure the power cord for my GPS to the turn signal lever in my car. I had originally used black plastic tape, but it didn't hold and also left a sticky residue. The silicone tape does the job perfectly, and there's no residue whatsoever! I plan to use the tape again to waterproof the cords for my Christmas lights.

It worked! I had water spraying from a leak in the hot water pipe leaving the water heater. It was night time, so I needed a quick fix. After turning off the water, I used this tape. The 1st time was not a success. I cut it off (which was easy by the way) & tried again. The second time, I really stretched the tape to its max when wrapping. So far, so good. Its been 1 day of holding.

This tape really saved me. My heating pipes busted, and I had to patch them with water coming out to keep the whole house from freezing. Not for use under pressure. The directions are correct, stretch tightly and overlap at least 3 times. If it is not tight, the water will just push the tape out of the way. If it is not wrapped with sufficient overlap, it will just balloon up with water. When this happens, I did find that I could contain the mess with water resistant duct tape, but much better to prevent by putting more layers on. Some of the taped leaks leaked a little after multiple layers of taping, but I was able to heat the house long enough to get a plumber out. I am grateful for this product, but you must use it correctly.

Used this tape to repair a carpet cleaner tool hose that had a split in it at a 90° bend. My first attempt didn't work; when I reattached the hose and bent it the split reopened. I disconnected the hose and removed the tape. I straightened the hose to close the split and reapplied new tape to cover the split further away from it on both sides. When I reattached the hose and bent it, the split did not reopen. I was really impressed with how well the tape fuses to itself.

        Don't waste your time!
Although this seemed like a perfect chance for new technology to triumph over ancient remedies, alas, no...the self-fusing silicone tape is a bust! I had a hairline crack (about 3/8" long) on a 1/2" water line between my main level tub/shower and my upstairs shower that was producing a tiny but constant leak. I bought some of this tape and an old fashioned 1/2" Repair Clamp with Rubber Gasket (just in case). The tape simply diverted the leak to the edge of the tape itself! It did not even slow the leak down. I decided to try the repair clamp, and voila! No more leak! Lesson learned - stick with the old fashioned ancient remedy and don't put my stock in new technology! As a last point, the Repair Clamp was CHEAPER!

        A great Product
I wraped a joint of this tape on a pipe from my pool to seal a small drip. It works just fine. It is outside in the weather and it still looks and works great. I thought the price was a little high. Unfortunally things keep going up in price but most people's income stays the same. Especially if you are retired.

Leak sealed at spa hose/fitting no problem
I wasn't looking forward to draining the spa and replacing a part of the hose plus a coupler and adapter. The leak was where the hose goes into the adapter. I would have needed to add a coupler and some hose because it was already pulled tight. I decided to give this a try first. I just wrapped it up tight as per instructions. I took about a minute to complete the project. No more leaks and it has been working like that for months now. I looked at other leak sealing products and tapes that seemed like they would be messy and included adhesives with drying time. But this solution proved to be simple and efficient.

        This is a terrible product
This is a terrible product. I think that the people in the YouTube videos demonstrating this product are like the carnival barkers that show you how easy it is to make a basket or toss a ring onto a bottle. I tried two different applications today, neither remotely worked. The first one was automotive. The second, a pinhole leak in a half inch copper pipe at the brazed elbow junction. Perfectly smooth, easily accessible copper tubing. No excuses for a poor fit. The water under the tape blew up the tape like an aneurism. The water found various points in the tape job to squeeze out of, albeit an inch or so to the right and left of my original leak. Something is wrong with this product. The instructions, the limited set of applications where it works, etc. It doesn't work. I'm completely disappointed that Home Depot would even carry this product. I noticed on the reviews that some reviews that liked it did not detail the conditions of their application when they praised it. To me, that indicates that they haven't even tried it yet. In case you're wondering why my photo shows yellow, I figured I'd post on the black in order to help more people find feedback for this product which is available in multiple colors. SKU 42366 01176. I can get my money back so I'm not mad at Home Depot, but this product wasted hours of my time that I could have put toward a genuine solution.

Seems to do the job but I'm not sure if it would be my first choice to seal a leak. It's the cheapest fix for a short time.

This product will seal and hold tight to repair leaky pipes. Have a repair on a bad solder since I bought my house 20 yrs ago and still holding strong!

I'll give HD credit for carrying a very good product that their largest competitor in this area does not carry. But I'll take some away for their on-line inventory indicating they had the item in stock, this aisle, this bin when in reality they were out of stock. C'est la vie.

Unfortunately, it did not stop the small pinhole leak we had as it claimed it would. Would not recommend this product.
