Do not ues these bits on stainless steel. I tried to drill thriuy3/32” think and burnt the bit even uesing oil. It does work good on aluminium and plastic .

I put tg step bit on a drill press at 380 rpm to drill a 75/8 hole in 1/4” steel. Worked great

I’m a chainlink gate fabricator and installer, I tend to drill holes into 2 3/8 galvanized pipe 065 grade, nothing really heavy duty, standard residential. I’d have to drill a 5/8 hole for the J-Bolts, but lately I haven’t even been close to 1/4 inch that it drills. I’ve used this bit 4 times previously before it started to fail on me. It tends to burn out and won’t go anything past a quarter inch. Nearly $70 down the drain. My customer had lend me his harbor freight bit which cost $7. C’mon now

The big stepper bit became dull very quickly

I was just looking for the larger size step drill bit only in order to put a clean 3/4" hole in furnace ductwork as part of a furnace humidifier install. However, the combination package price was a lot more attractive than just buying the larger size and then naturally going back later to get the smaller size. The straight shank drill bits along with the case sealed the deal. As far as the step drill itself: I just used the larger step drill and it cut perfectly round smooth holes with no burrs to deal with that you would normally get with a regular straight shank drill bit. In summary: 5 Stars all around for pricing, packaging, and for the step drill itself.
