It drills a hole very quickly. The depth gauge works only as an indicator of depth. The depth gage holder is plastic and will not stay set while drilling. If you are able to watch it continuously and stop the hammer when the guide first touches the reference then it works somewhat. If you don’t stop the hammer, the bit will continue to penetrate and push the depth check device back up into the device while drinking your hole too deep. The teeth of the depth stick holder are plastic and won’t hold. Tightening the handle does not increase the hold of the depth check. It is controlled solely by a plastic lever in the handle/yoke assembly. I made it work by substituting a yoke/ handle from a discarded drill that luckily fit. It was also plastic but it worked because tightening the twist on the handle made the depth check stick stop one not slip. The hammer works nicely if you replace the depth check with one that actually functions

drilling chipping. bit is stuck in tool. second time this has happened. dont even get me started on sawzall quality...or lack thereof

Excellent Drill! I've been using Bosch and Hilti on job sites for a long time, but this Milwaukee has exceeded any of my expectations! HIGHLY recommend!

I had a 5.5amp (different style) that I used for a good 7 years until it started leaking fluid. so I bought this one, and after using it 3 times which the last time was chipping up tile, it started throwing grease out of the side. I will give Milwaukee the benefit of the doubt and get another to see what happens.

7-29-22 I just bought a brand new 1" SDS PLUS ROTARY HAMMER at Home Depot . I had a SELECTOR SWITCH ISSUE---When clicked on the DRILL function it worked...when I moved it to the HAMMER DRILL function--still ok....But when I tried to move it to the HAMMER ONLY function, it stopped (or got stuck, or whatever) thus making the tool inoperable for my needs. Ironically, I traded it in for another new replacement AND IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING! The factory said it might be a bad batch. No trouble shooting advice or anything. Can anyone out there advise me if they had the same problem, and if so, how did you correct the situation, other than returning the tool for a refund?

I purchased this drill along with a 3" blade to remove roughly 300 square feet of thin-set and it worked great! If your removing floor tile in your home, don't waste your time killing yourself with manual push scrapers, or turning your home into a dust bowl with floor sanders. This hammer worked great! I definitely recommend this product.

I was looking for a heavy duty impact drill that could be used to drill a 1/2” hole into concrete and limestone rock. This fit the bill perfectly, and then some. Lightweight yet very capable!

Nice drill Have been needing to purchase one for a while.

This is my second try with this model of roto-hammer. Last summer I bought the same tool but had to return it as defective because as other reviewers mention eventually the chuck froze up and I could not remove the bit without disassembling the chuck (see YouTube for instructions). I'm giving it another chance because when it's working, it is more comfortable to use than other roto-hammers.

I've regularly used Milwaukee's M18 hammer drills with their vacuum attachments at work and always liked them. I needed something to use for once-in-a-while projects at home though, and couldn't justify the price of that sort of kit for hobby use. So I saw this at the store and figured I'd give it a shot. Lo and behold, it delivers. 5/8" holes are no problem at all for this guy. If you're not looking for a daily driver and don't need dust collection or portability, this tool is the ticket.

The drill works fine and is powerful enough to do the job.

Light weight, easy to handle, you can adjust it for drilling, hammer drilling or hammering along. I’m not a contractor or handy man, I’m just a home owner that’s making the job done easier because of the tool!

Good quality and has the power to take care of larger projects. Definitely worth the money.
