[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Hasn't changed much over the years so very simple to use. We do not have trash pick up in our community so having a compactor means less bags to take to the dump. I would recommend to anyone looking for a compactor.

Very simple to use. We had one previously that was at least 15 years old before it stopped compacting. A must have when you do not have garbage pick up.

This compactor I'd just what I wanted! I took the time to research online, read all reviews & compared prices. My research paid off!

It was easily installed and works wonderfully. My children even like to help with chores now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have waited too long to buy and have this installed. It works just GREAT. With TWO compacting pressures even big empty Ice Tea bottles are easily compressed. I am disabled. It saves me trips to the Dumpster.

We had the trash compactor installed 1+ months ago, it jammed repeatedly and froze (the repair man has been to the house 3 times) but now (for the past 10 days) seems to be working. When it works it is fine, but we have been one step from returning it and seeking a refund.

Originally purchased a competitors Trash Compactor and returned it two weeks later. It was tinny, quite noisy and didn't compact all the way. This Maytag Trash Compactor is solidly built, quiet, not tinny and compacts the trash quite well.

Delivered as promised, no issues with getting it put in where our 26 year-old compactor was installed. Works well. One thing, it is not built as sturdy as our old compactor. Time will tell if it holds up. So far so good!

We love our new Maytag trash compactor! It is very powerful & keeps our garbage at a low rate. The only bad thing I would have to mention is that the stainless steel looks dirty all of the time. Hopefully the company can figure out a way to fix this problem.

Purchased this as a replacement for one we had for 20+ years. I am very happy with the overall quality. I really like both the pedal and the pull feature to open. The stainless is not nearly as prone to streaks as I thought it would be, and when it does, a quick wipe with disinfectant wet wipe takes care of it and returns it to full shine. The packaging, shipping and delivery were all as promised. Very little assembly required and it slid right into place and it's quiet when in operation. Overall very happy with this purchase.

Purchased the Maytag Compactor three weeks ago, excellent compactor and much more quieter than the Broan unit that it replaced. I would highly recommend this compactor.

I live in the country and garbage pickup is iffy. Thanks to this powerful compactor, I'm never overrun by garbage. It solved a terrible problem.

I replaced a twenty five year old Kitchen Aid. The door latch was not working well and it was showing it's age. The new Maytag is almost identical with the old one except for layout of the controls. I don't see any reason not to get another twenty five years out of this one. Ok, I may not last that long

bought this one month ago and installed it our new house. We have had trash compactors in our prior homes, from a Jenair to kitchen aid. And this unit is very well built and very quite when operating. As with any appliance purchase we hope this will last for many years to come. I went with Maytag this purchase because of the reviews I read in comparing different compactors. This one had the best reviews and least problems.

replaced my 3 yr old GE that broke under normal use ,Maytag was easy to install and love not having the switch in the foot pedal assembly ,looks great and does a great job .

I was not able to install the handle on the front of the compactor until I drilled an new hole to match the screw holes in the handle.

I bought this product two weeks ago. The appearance is good, the unit has good compaction, etc. The controls are easy to use. It currently has one big issue and keep in mind I have not called Whirlpool service. That issue is that the right track that carries the trash holder in and out of the compactor is not level. This results in a large bang each time you close the trash holder. If you pull up on the handle to the right, it closes correctly. I expect that issue to be resolved as soon as I contact service

The door is flimsy. Not the quality I expected. The spring that pushes the compactor container out does not work well. When you step on the pedal in the front it does not comes out. Have to pull it out.

We have had this trash compactor for a month and so far are loving it and have had no issues.

well built easy to install, looks nice and very quite

i am a paraplegic so using a toe kick is out of the question; however, having compacted trash makes hauling it outside much easier. This Maytag is the only compactor that offers two ways to open. You can pull up on the handle or use the toe kick. Problem solved!!

I bought this a month ago and I am totally disappointed with this product and the response I received from customer serviceThe compactor did not compress the trash more than 20% and the drawer was very loose. On my 18 year old compactor, you could hear the motor "labor" as it compacted the trash.This unit sounded like it never made contact before reversing. The repairman claimed the unit worked to spec. Customer serv. refused to replace or sent another tech. I had to return the unit to the store myself.This is 1 of 3 MAYTAG appliances I bought in the passed month.

I love this machine. I had one in my last two houses over the years and had rather have one than a dishwasher! When I visit my daughter she is always having to carry out bags of trash while I carry out once a week! Love it!

Looks great my wife loves foot pedal to open quiet operation does a great job

Well i bought this for the extra pack feature and it works. I am not real excited about it and probably would not buy it again. The handle is gaudy and just in the way. So i give it a average review.

This is a reasonable compactor for the priceCompacts well and pretty quietMajor problem with it is, that when closing you have to push it pretty hard to get it to close.

I could not be happier with this trash compactor. It replaces one that was twenty years old and I thought I would never find another one that equaled it. I was so wrong. This compactor surpasses it and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Love the extra compacting feature that allows us to go for three weeks without emptying it. this is the best built compactor on the market today. the design of the compector was the best we found after a very poor choice of another brand that we put in our new home. In our checking the desigens of the other i was sure the Maytag was the one for us long term..
