Product appears to work well after retrofitting it with screws to mount the motor directly to an existing frame. Thermostat does not shut off motor for a long time after temperature drops. Support email never answered so had to call phone number in manual. Now to see if motor runs after warranty expires. This stupid Home Depot website does not allow picture to be added even when within specification requirements.

Unit arrived in a timely manner. The old (existing) 'tunnel' assembly was mounted in a fashion that made the housing difficult to remove, so I installed the motor & fan unit into the existing one. The fan blade was sitting too close, so I used an Allen wrench to easily move the blade outward about 1/2". After hard-wiring the new fan, I found that the thermostat was very easy to adjust. This new unit is much quieter than the old fan, and works as advertised. It is set to come on at 90 F, and while it's running it easily keeps the attic from getting too hot- and trust me, in July in N.C.- that attic was getting scary hot (I'd guess it was at least 150 F when the old fan quit!). I can go up into the attic to retrieve items on a hot sunny day now, without fearing "heat-exhaustion"!

The purpose for this purchase was to replace an existing ventamatic that was failing. The supports were the same spacing and the rating was higher cfm than previous fan. The new fan seems to be more lightweight in support arms. Thus it is louder and more “jumpy.” There are four blades instead of five on previous fan. My recommendation is to go up to a larger fan so the supports may be more substantial strength. It is working, just noisy.

This fan is quite. It has a low drone and rushing air sound. Blades are fairly well balanced, but there is room for improvement. The flex cable for the power and thermostat should be a little longer to facilitate room for ease of running power to it. As it is now it binds when trying to mount it in tight spaces. Overall this fan suits the house well and really has a positive affect on the attic temp and moisture level.

I have provided a photo. I installed the mounting brackets ONE of the fan blades hit the bolt heads when turned. It seems that all the blades are for some inexplicable reason different. They look like they were all hand made. To get things to work I had to change the bolt to a carriage bolt (lower profile) and actually grind down ONE of the fan blades. I made several attempts to contact the manufacture and was thwarted at each attempt. Chat, online support, phone all failed. No one available to take your call.

Works as advertised. Easy to install. I cut a circle out of a piece of 5/8" plywood, installed the fan on the plywood using rubber washers (vibration dampening), & installed the fan-&-plywood on the 2x4s around my attic gable vent. Put the thermostat-junction box at the edge of the plywood so the back of the thermostat box hangs free so air can surround it. I can hear the fan when it is on, but barely and only on the 2nd floor. Don't hear it at all in the 1st floor living room. I set it to come on at 110 degrees F. I can't say whether it makes a difference in temperature inside the dwelling because we haven't experienced really hot weather yet (San Diego).

Very powerful fan!
At 1650rpms, this fan is very loud, but it does what it is meant to do. I have two of them: one is mounted vertically in my garage's ceiling to pull the hot air out of the garage & blowing into my vented attic. The airflow is so strong that this one fan reduces my attic temp (1950 sqft) dramatically so that I can do just about anything in the attic without passing out from the heat - this was not the intended purpose of this fan but boy, do I ever enjoy this side affect!
The second fan was supposed to have gone on the other end of my garage's ceiling so that I'd have 2 fans pulling the hot air out of the garage into the attic...but I had a DiY epiphany: I installed the second fan into my garage's wall butted with the laundry room! Why, you ask? Well, I have the one fan pulling hot air out but nothing cool is coming in, so the second fan pulls from the laundry room, blowing into the garage!
I have a PAC that was vented into the attic, but it was more problematic than it was worth. I do not want my garage A/C'd, I am only in it (for the most part) to smoke since I do not smoke inside of my house (yeah, I can hear the "You should just stop smoking..." comments!), so unless I'm doing something long term with my vehicles, I am only in the garage at tops for 10 minutes to smoke...I'll use the PAC out on the lanai when guests are over!
This was a decent investment...now to do some finishing on them both: borders on both, a screen or functional louvers on the wall.
Oh, FYI: do not attempt to put a solid state speed control, e.g. dimmer switch, etc. on this fan (that happens to be #1 of the Do Not Do list in the instructions). I wanted one (had one) on the wall fan to control its speed while I'm in the garage, but...

Best I could find for the money, so-so value, does the job.
in the research I found that many people had some concerns and as it turns out, they are correct. I would love to talk to the company and offer some help.
1. The bolts heads are just wrong. they are shouldered heads and should be flat pan heads. They will hit the blade. Bad design. I purchased two nuts with a lock washer between them so they do not vibrate loose.
2. Pay attention to thermostat. The directions showed using the air hole to wire in the power. That is wrong, needs to be unblocked to sense the temp. Mine was received defectived and the replacement had a second hole on the side of the box with wires going to the motor. once replaced it works fine.
3. I built a framed half circle gable mount since that was what i have in my house and I did remove the center 2x4 that would have blocked the middle of the airflow. I then built a structure to span that center structure to the outside 2x4 frame studs ( love that snow weight) and the 2x4 frame with double 3/4 inch plywood makes a stable mount and you can true up the mount and remove most of the excess vibration.
4. sloppy motor mounts from factory, they were off by 3/8 inch. This was a majoe source of vibration. I remarked and redrilled mount brackets. Just measure the distance from edge to hole where the fan is mounted prior and not a big deal.
5. I used thick neoprene washers as isolators. this was worth while.
All said and done, i have a good ventalation system. Home depot could put pressure on manucaturers to build better quality. Our sharing helps all to know before you buy and I did read about every issue I had, minus the defective thermostat. It is still better than anything else at his price I could find.

I framed the gable side of my attic, mounted 3/4” plywood, cut out a 15” hole, mounted the fan, ran a dedicated 15 amp circuit, pilot switch, service switch and wired in the thermostat.
The fan and thermostat are working well, the fan is quiet, removing the heat from the attic and it
seems to be very efficient. It is a good quality product at a fair price from a reputable company-
both Max Air and Home Depot.

Not made for 90-100+ heat.
I live in a hot and humid section of the usa (90°-100°+ from April to late September and sometimes into October).
I bought this fan in April of 2020 and as of May of 2023 it no longer works.
Very displeased with the life of this fan.

Stopped working at 20 months
Easy to install and only $70.
However, it stopped working at 20 months after installed. We are in the dog days of summer with 100 plus temps and it stopped just before it got hot.
Disappointed it only last that long.

I installed this exhaust fan in my attic. Framed out the studded wall on the gable side of
the house, mounted a piece of plywood with a 15" hole cutout , mounted the fan, ran a
15 amp dedicated circuit with a pilot switch , wired up the thermostat and put it in
operation. The fan works well , does a good job and was a fair price Thank you Home Depot and Maxx Air.
