We have had this Mastercool ADA71 for about a month, and it performs really well and cools the whole house. I also bought the Masterstat thermostat, which works great. Initially, I was going to have it installed, but they were going to use angle iron vertical supports; which seemed wrong for this unit, since it has thinner metal sides. So, we took the cooler apart and rented out a large scissor jack to get the parts on the roof. I built a support structure using 2x6 redwood, secured the bottom plate on top of that, then installed the blower, and then the rest of the unit. It is really secure and easy to access for maintenance.

A great look and real quite.
The cooler was very easy to install.
It is made better and has an extra lining for the water to sit in, so hopfully the bottom won't fall out like the last on did.
The tumbler or bird cage seems more stout and sturdy.
Less noise and the housing is easy on the eyes.

needed major repairs 2nd season in use
Last year 6-15-12 I bought the master cool model ADA51. Had it installed by a licensed contractor, this year April 2013 went to start it up for spring, and discovered the wheel on the blower had come apart and was making a terrible noise. Essick Air, was quickly responsive to my request for warranty for the defective part, requiring submittal of documentation of the problem, and proof of purchase. I had excellent documentation thanks to my contractor; however the labor to replace the defective part was not covered under their warranty and I had to pay to have the defective part replaced. The cooler was purchased for my parents who are in their late 70’s, we selected the Master Cool because we thought it was a quality item and would only need routine maintenance for some years. However we incurred a substantial repair bill replacing the poorly welded squirrel cage not even 1 year after purchase needless to say I was highly disappointed and clearly made an error in assuming Master Cool was quality well made product.

Champion could make their product much nicer with some quality control. Two main items i would recommend, have your production people understand that most to all applications require the use of a leg kit, therefore dont put the sheet metal screws that hold the cabint together right where the legs go! The other item would be to locate the overflow somewhere to one of the sides so you can see the water level. Otherwise a good product once you do some tweaking.

Unit is relatively quiet and it was easy to install the motor, pulley, and pump. We installed it at the end of October so it hasn't been tested in the summer. For the few days of 90° weather we had, it worked like a charm with the 1/2 power motor we had from the prior unit. I have a 1 HP motor ready to go for when summer roles back around.
