Mounting System Not An Improvement
The mounting system for these types of towel bars and rings has typically used a small metal set screw to hold the posts onto a metal plate which is affixed to the wall. Moen has changed the method to attach the posts on these bars/rings to plastic, with tiny plastic tabs which "lock" the posts onto the wall plates. Lock is a good descriptino because once the posts are affixed to the wall, you'll never get them off, at least without breaking the flimsy plastic tabs. As there's no other way to attach the posts to the wall, the bars/rings are rendered useless. Perhaps that was the intent: you have to buy all new any time you paint or change location.

The Moen Brantford Chrome 24" Towel Bar uses the Moen Pro-Fit™ installation system. To remove the decorative part from the mounting post, on the side of the decorative post there is a square opening. Slide and press a small, flat bladed screw driver up into the opening; with your other hand you should be able to “rock/wiggle” the decorative part loose/away from the mounting hardware. It was a close duplicate to the one I was replacing, but the mount, rather than plastic screw inserts through the drywall, used a single metal expanding mount, so I removed that and used the existing screw inserts. Tadah.

This towel rack was easy to install, is very sturdy and looks great. It also matches our faucets which we had installed earlier.

The reason we had to order a new rod was because the original one was flawed. For years we put up with it falling off the wall till we finally had enough. Thankful we were able to replace it. It came promptly. We usually have good experience with Moen so this product failure surprised us.

The unit worked well and was easy to install. It came with toggle bolts for a drywall install, but I installed on a vanity with screws. Fits well with the bathroom decor and Brantford faucet on the vanity.

Robe hook wall mount base installation was fair. The hook mount to the wall base is secured by a plastic clip, not good especially if attempt to remove the hook from the base, very difficult to depress the plastic clip. I would not purchase again.

The Moen Brantford Double Robe Hook in Oil Rubbed Bronze uses Moen’s Pro+Fit installation system-which is a single screw mounting system. We are sorry to hear of the difficulty you experienced installing and removing the decorative base from the mounting hardware. To remove the decorative base, there is a square opening in the bottom; slide a small flat-bladed screwdriver and press up into the opening.
