Bought this safe for my daughter's dorm room. This just like a safe that you get in many hotel rooms. You can easily fit a couple of standard laptops, a bunch of small personal items, iPad, etc. It works with a combination or with a credit card or student ID. Colleges rent them out for about $200/year so you can save some money by buying your own. Prob can sell it used for $100, too, when you're done with. The HD price is good but I've seen it lower at Costco. However, HD makes it easy to buy, shipping it for free straight to the college or have it ready at a store near the school, which is what we had them do.

We first picked the safe, then the retailer. Home Depot offered an outstanding price on a highly rated product. Installation was easy, although the rear mounting holes do not line up for 16-inch studs. Mounted a horizontal board on studs for secure mounting installation. Also added battery-powered interior LED puck light for easier view of contents. Had to call Mesa support because batteries did not work, nor did replacements. Simple fix for a wire that sometimes comes loose during shipping. Overall, excellent safe for the money. Would recommend to friends.

It is great that I don't have to use a touchy dial to open this safe. It's tough to make a mistake when all you have to do is slide a card or remember 4 to 6 numbers that you created yourself. If anyone is looking for security for their valuables and don't want a big heavy expensive safe that is costly to install then this is for you. It was for me and I am glad I made the purchase. One great feature of this safe is that if you forget your combination to open then you have a fail-safe set of numbers that you can enter to open it as well as a key that also works.

This is more of a lock box than a safe, as the construction is not heavy-guage steel, though it seems very solid. Has pre-drilled holes to mount to the floor or to the wall. I mounted mine on the wall -- holes are at 12" centers. Instruction manual makes programming the primary code and back-up code easy. The bolts retract quickly once the code is entered, so the contents can be accessed quickly if need be. Hinges and bolts are concealed. Though there is a little bit of play on the door, because the bolts do not seat 100% snug behind the catch. It is a little annoying punching in the code with the door moving back and forth every time you hit a key. I'm thinking of getting some weather-strip to put along the lip where the inside of the door makes contact with the safe to eliminate that play. All-in-all, seems like a great lock box, but I'm no expert. There is a video on YouTube where a guy reviews several safes and lock boxes at a comparable (or even higher price-point) as this safe. Those safes seemed very easy to break into. I wish he reviewed this one, as I would think it would hold up better than most of the others.

Great safe. Just like the ones on a cruise ship Can use credit card swipe to open. Would buy another one again.

I should have bought this 30yrs. ago. I use it to hold a handgun and meds so far. Just got it today but it seems to be a quality built safe.More room than I thought and the secure feeling when I leave the house is great. A+++++

I bought this safe for my 88 year old mother when she moved into an assisted living home for active people as she still drives and enjoys getting dressed up. The safe was easy to program and install. She got the hang of using the combination right away and uses it daily. Good quality and easy to use.
