Very Satisfied with these Lights
I have three of these lights mounted in my landscaping and pointed towards the front exterior of my home. These lights replaced the halogen lights which had been in service for a number of years, With the old lights, I was replacing halogen bulbs about every 3 to 5 weeks. These lights have now been in service for one year and have performed flawlessly. These lights have a "bluer" light hue than the 500 watt halogens. However, these lights are also MUCH brighter. Three of these illuminate the entire front and ends of a very large two story brick home. Where I have these lights installed, the fixtures take the direct hit of all weather, they are constantly in the sunlight during the day and most concerning, they receive direct hits by the underground sprinkler heads. Despite this exposure to the elements, these lights function FAR SUPERIOR to the halogen lights which I was constantly messing with. Yes, you can purchase half a dozen quartz lights for the cost of one of these fixtures. Also, you can purchase a lot of replacement halogen bulbs for the cost of replacing one of these lights Halide bulbs. Even so, I appreciate the unconditional reliability of these lights thus far and not having to replace bulbs nearly every other week in one of the Halogen fixtures. If you want a well made light fixture which will provide a high quality very bright light source, then purchase these lights. If you want to be constantly messing around with bulbs which you will have to buy in bulk, then waste your money on a throw away halogen fixture. I wish I had originally installed these lights instead of trying to save a few bucks on the made in China disposable products. Just remember, "Made in China" is a warning label about the quality of what you are purchasing.

Nice light, but housing needs some work
I've put 6 of these up for lighting a field. Easy to install and love the look of metal halide, but the weight of the housing makes prone to cracking the thin diecast housing at the adjustment fitting. I cracked 3 housings, 1 while installing. Came to this page trying to find replacement parts. No parts on vendor site either. :( Guess only other option is to buy a new one, put a broken one in a box, and return it to HD. Sorry HD! Get on your vendor to fix the design flaw. I build tools and molds for a living, this is an easy problem to solve for the vendor (...or, would be if vendor and their suppliers were on same continent and spoke same language - but that's a whole nother issue) .

Failed within 15 months
I bought this model in Oct 2012, within the year the bulb started coming on and off. I went to HD and they told me that the ballast must be the problem and I needed to contact the company. The company representative wrote me back that it was not the ballast but the bulb. I went back to HD and they gave me a new bulb free of charge. After one month the new bulb started to do the same. I suspect its the ballast/ignitor but I am not able to find a replacement. I would not recommend this light fixture. The enclosure is fine and the design is fine but the components inside seem to be low quality.

Poor bulb quality
Used for a total of 2 months/600 hours before the bulb burned out. Not happy. Light is not expose to weather or temp. extremes. Bulbs are very pricey at HD. I will buy a bulb elsewhere and try again. Like the light and easy to install but a very poor value considering the cost and lack of durability.

    Ballast Failure
Three times the bulb burned out in 6 months. Everytime at the store I was told it was a bad bulb and I had to buy a new one. Found out from the manufacturers site that the ballast is bad so I'm throwing the whole thing in the trash!

      Good security light
Like other metal halide lights these take a while to come on but when fully illuminated they're very bright. Two of these illuminates nearly 1/2 an acre at our house. We are going to buy some more to replace some incandescent floods

Great product at a reasonable price.
I have purchased four of these to use on the outside of our church education wing. Even in a "old installation" they were reasonable easy to install. They provide a bright light without blinding you. Would highly recommend them where a low maintaince and low cost to operate light is needed. The 25,000 hour bulb life is a great plus as well.

      Let There Be Light
Living in the county vs. city limits your public street lighting. I have a corner lot and my backyard as well as the side of my property is extremely dark. I like to entertain during nice weather but lighting was a problem. This product lights up my ENTIRE backyard. It's everything I wanted and needed; will purchase a smaller version for the side. Let's get ready to PARTY!!

        Awesome
I installed 4 of these in my backyard. The lights are very very bright. Exactly what I was looking for. They light up my entire back yard. Like it is daytime. Just be careful of your neighbors. They might not like how bright they are. I highly recommend this product

          I Was Very Pleased , I'm Not Easy .
This light was intended to light up the side of My property so My Cameras would have sufficient light to work right , and for me to see when I go outside , I live in the country , so No Street lights out here in "The Jack Nowhere's " ! The Light Frequency (color) is Very Good , Like those New LED Flashlights , and it Don't use Much Juice to run . Very Bright , without blinding , and I Can Now see ALL The Deer at Night ! I Would Highly Recommend it , because it's not like those Typical flood types , It's Terrific .

          Good Life
We have been using several Halogen style lamps in a dusty environment but had poor service life. This lamp requires a little more time to get to full brightness, but is worth the initial cost. Overall maintenance and operating cost is less.

          Brings Back Ballpark Memories
All I can say is, WOW. The lights are B-R-I-G-H-T. My backyard looks like a ballpark at night. Wonderful for me because I have a pool and needed the lighting. I don't have close neighbors, but if you do, be sure to adjust so as not to disturb them - or buy them all a quality pair of shades!

          Lamp
It took two hours to install it just to find out that it didn't work. the sensor would not come on and the light was more appropiate for a parking lot not a garage. I would not recommend this lamp for a garage or home.

Takes some time to fully illuminate but once they do, WOW!
I replaced all of my halogen 500 watt exterior flood lights on my house with these. I reduced my power consumption by 400 watts per bulb and got 500 more lumen per bulb. The only draw back to these bulbs is that they take about 2 minutes to fully illuminate, which isn't that big of a deal unless you are needing light instantly. You also need to aim these light fixtures at night because I had no idea the field of illumination was so big. I was lighting up my neighbors yard before i realized i needed to re aim the fixtures. My yard looks like a football stadium now. I'm really happy with the purchase, and buying from home depot online was really convenient. They had my lights ready and waiting at the customer service desk!

            Buyer Beware
This is a wonderful light but it is NOT dusk to dawn lighting. The spec sheet on this website says it is, but it is wrong. Other than that, i would have given it 5 stars.

              An Excellent Light
When I first installed the lights, one above my garage to light the driveway and the second, just two feet under the peak of the roof to light up the back yard. I installed a switch on each of them so I could shut them off individually during special functions (Fourth of July, etc). Otherwise, they would come on dusk to dawn. They are much cheaper than burning incadesant flood lights. They also have a white light that I prefer. When I installed them I decided to turn them vertical which covered a wider area of my desired coverage area. They have added much security to my home. When we are gone after dark and come home the yard is lit up and we feel secure getting out of the car going into the house. I now am looking to buy another for the other side of the house to light it up. I like them very much and would recommend them to anyone looking for that type of light.

                Metal Halide Flood
This is an excellent fixture for lighting up a lawn, garden, or pool area. At roughly 8,000 lumen from a 100Watt bulb it is very efficient when compared to standard flood lights. The fixture is easily mountable to eaves or the side of your house. The light has built in features that make it easy to position as needed.
