Used in bathroom renovation. This tub is really nice and is a big improvement over the light weight tub options. It weighs 300+ pounds, so have a team ready to move it. Expensive, but how many times in your life are you going to replace a tub?

Lacking quality control
Needed a tub with a high weight capacity, this fit the bill. Other reviews are correct. Finish is lumpy with a hammered finish look. Kohler told me this is normal on this tub model. Anti-slip is not applied evenly or it's covered by thicker enamel. As seen in the picture, maybe an 1/8 of the anti-slip is visible and can be felt. I didn't have time to wait for replacement. My tub was built between January and February of '23 so it's not old stock. Priced too high for the issues present.

    Beautiful Tub
To be fair, the tub hasn’t been installed yet as we are still in the middle of the bathroom renovation, but already I love it so much! Everyone who has seen it has said what a beautiful tub it is. I was worried about the cottage cheese enamel from other reviews but the one we received is nearly perfect. The enamel is a little wavy on the apron but it is not distracting and adds to the vintage feel. It’s a shame it will be mostly hidden behind the shower curtain!

      Terrible finish
For some reason Home Depot will not post my review. So let’s try it again. We have ordered this tub through Home Depot and local plumbing shops and every tub has had a bumpy finish issue. I’ve used Kohler cast iron tubs in the past and never seen them like this. They’ve thrown quality control out the window at this point and don’t care that they are selling a terrible product.

        Kohler is a joke.
The enamel finish on these tubs is a joke. I purchased 2 tubs from Home Depot and then from a local plumbing store, and yet every tub comes in bumpy cottage cheese like finish. I have bought Kohler cast-iron tubs in the past and never seen them this bad. Obviously Kohler doesn’t believe in quality control anymore. The sad thing is it’s a pretty cool looking tub, but I can’t put this tub into a brand new house that’s costing a lot of money. We are so disappointed!!

          Such a disappointment
I can’t believe the regret that I picked this tub. I went with the big name that is trusted. I went with timeless cast iron over the cheap new materials. There is a non slip texture on the bottom that you will never get 100% clean! Why why why did you add this Kohler?!?! It just attracts dirt and doesn’t let it go. I have bleached and scrubbed with soft scrub no luck! I hate using harsh chemicals, that’s why I went with cast iron! Uuuggggg it’s installed, I’m stuck with it. I’m so disappointed.

Jasmine, my name is Jessica with Kohler Customer Service. I am sorry to hear of your disappointment with the Safeguard surface on the bottom of your Bellwether tub. As the manufacturer, we are very interested in supplying our customers with a quality product that delivers beyond expectations. I am sorry this was not your experience. It is recommended to use Kohler Cast Iron cleaner and a soft nylon brush to clean the Safeguard finish. The following link is to the Care and Cleaning guide as well: http://bit.ly/3YEOJ9B. Make sure you can clean before you install
My tub came from factory with brown dirt ground into the Safeguard slip-resistant strips at the bottom – took 4 calls to Kohler and at least 4 hours of scrubbing to get them clean. Here's the thing: the Kohler warranty is meaningless. Lifetime, but they won’t pay anything toward removing and installing a replacement. So you’ll probably have, at minimum, $3,000 worth of tile, drywall, and floor destruction if you decide to replace. Make sure it’s perfect – and clean – before install.

Can see cast iron through enamel
Buyer Beware!!! Inspect before you install!!! In bright light, the white finish blinded me to the defect, but once installed and with a curtain up, what looks like shadows in the corners are areas of really thin enamel where the cast iron shows through. I've spent close to $10K remodeling my guest bathroom. I trusted the KOHLER brand...uggg... now that it is installed and tile finished there is no going back...so disappointed!!! I wish I would have read the reviews. I hope it lasts.

                Bad finishing. Have to return
The finishing is very thin. I doubt that this cast iron tub will serve long time given bad enamel. It looks not appealing in reality. I have to return and buy what ever is available to fit my construction timeline. Waist of time, money and energy, not what is expected from Kohler

My contractor went to install our tub and there are dimples all over the tub...it is literally bumpy and there is a chunk missing from the bottom. How was this packaged without noticing these defects?

                      Longer Spout Needed
Love the tub but a standard length spout does not work well. The spout is in direct line with the overflow so when the tub is filled some of the water goes down the overflow instead of the tub. (See Photo) We are installing the (K-45133-BN - 7.5 inches) spout which will direct water away from the overflow.

                          Bumpy finish
This WOULD be a beautiful tub, but the finish was seriously bumpy over 80% of it. They must have pretty horrible quality control to let this out of the factory and into stores! The smooth parts were beautiful. So sad. We have to take it back. What a pain!

Rust stains + ripples on apron
As an architect I look for quality and design when specifying products for my clients. This bathtub is a beautiful style, but unfortunately I have now had issues with rust spots in the last THREE of these that have been installed. We have reached out to Kohler to ask what can be done and they recommend a few cleaning options, all of which we have tried, but the rust spots will not come out. They appear to be underneath the non slip film on top of the tub. This is an expensive issue to repair and I will no longer specify these tubs because I don't trust the products. The other issue we have had includes ripples on the apron that others have mentioned. It's hard to photograph but it's easy to see in person. We were told this is "normal"... buyer beware on both of these issues.

I purchased this tub from a local plumbing store. As others have stated, the tub is very heavy. My husband and I were able to move the tub from the garage to the bathroom using a flat dolly (purchased from Harbor Freight). It was so heavy, the wheels on the dolly left marks on our wood floor. As a word of advice, protect your floors if you're rolling it in! As others have described, the sides have a ripply effect, but I don't mind it. In fact, I kind of like it because it reflects light onto my tile floor and looks like glistening water. Another piece of advice: protect all sides of your tub with towels or something thick (not just paper) while plumbing and tiling are in progress. We covered the tub in thick paper, yet still, our tub was scratched in a few areas. The tub is pretty shallow. If you are a tall person, it's awkward trying to get both your legs under water if you're taking a bath. The tub keeps your bath water very warm for a long time! Some people worry that cast iron is too cold. Don't listen to those naysayers. As soon as the warm water hits the cast iron, it warms up immediately. No need for radiant heat or insulation underneath the tub. All in all, I love my solid, sturdy, cast iron tub! You knock on the side, and it sounds like a tank. Try knocking on the side of a plastic tub--completely hollow and flimsy.

We also experienced a rippled or hammered look on all over the entire glaze, inside and out ( The glaze was applied to thick?). The picture does not do it justice… Hard to photograph. I took a 10 second video that clearly shows how bad it is but it would not upload. You can really feel it with your hand when you rub the surface We returned it and I’m going to buy a non-Kohler product that we can see in the store that we don’t have to order. Very disappointed.

This is a solid, sturdy tub. They're very common in hotels and for good reasons: easy to clean, anti-slip, easy in, no frills. It's not a soaking tub for a luxury master bathroom, but it's perfect for the common bathroom. It's very heavy, but you can feel how sturdy it is under your feet compared to an acrylic tub. I expect it to last forever. When the acrylic tub goes in another bathroom, I expect I'll replace it with one of these.

We have been pleased with this tub. It is true to its dimensions and pictures from my experience. Its also low to the ground so our young kids can get in easily. I recommend using professional movers to haul it to second story bathrooms as its quite heavy.

Great looking tub. Cast Iron is the way to go since it hold heat very well. The drawback in the tub drain has to be ordered from Kohler but thanks to reviews like this I knew before I bought it. Make sure to also purchase an extra long spout. We also found this information based on reviews. BUY

The Kohler Bellwether cast iron tub is an extremely sturdy and well design tub. The textured floor provides a no-slip surface that actually works well. The tub incorporates four integral feet to support the tub instead of a ledger board. I used it a replacement for a fiberglass tub, and there’s no comparison. As you would expect, the tub is heavy, but this comes with the solid feel of cast iron. Installing it was straight forward as it measures just an eighth inch under 5 feet. I recommend this tub for any bath renovations. A few tips: Create a cardboard template of where the tub’s feet locations are so when you have the flooring ready you can place the template down and mark these support positions. Use at least one steel plate under each foot as a pad on which the tub will rest. Shim the tub to make it level. I used galvanized electrical box covers for the pad and shims, which worked well. Lifting the tub to level it isn’t a big chore. One person can lift an end while holding on to a wall for support while someone else slides the shims under it. The tub came well packaged and in good shape. It will take four people to move it. If you have to move it up a level, consider having a moving company get it to the floor. They know how to move heavy items upstairs and not hurt themselves. I had mine moved into the kitchen a few days before it had to be moved into the bathroom. Another helpful tip is to use Shoulder Dolly Moving Straps when you can. You can place the tub on end and slip these under it and two people can easily lift the tub for placing it in the bathroom. However, best to have four people for this with two holding it steady. Overall, a great tub and well worth the extra time and help to move it. You’ll love the results.

We are still in the renovation process with the rest of the bathroom but as for the bathtub it is exactly what we were looking for! Although it is heavy (took three guys to get it into the house - luckily no stairs), it was a perfect fit for our bathroom. Love the sleekness.

Great tub for kids and showering
Based on reviews I read, I had two worries about this tub: It wouldn't be white, and it would have strange ripples along the side. Neither of these has been an issue. It's true the tub is not bright, bright white, but in my opinion it is still white and matches our white Kohler toilet and sink just fine. It also has white subway tile around it and appears to match. The ripples are there but don't bother us in the least--they are subtle and barely noticeable. We are delighted with this bathtub. It has clean, simple lines, is modern and low-profile, and is great for bathing kids and for use as a shower. It feels quite roomy given the dimensions. I would not recommend it as a soaking tub as it is not deep and the sides are not very slanted. (These are two things we appreciate about it but others may not.)

                                          BUMPY FINISH
The apron of the tub is very rippled and wavy. When lit the finish looks extremely bumpy. We want a smooth and clean finish. The inside of the tub is smoother than the outside.

The tub arrived damaged. Had to return and the company that handled the pick up sent an email to pick a day but then came a completely different day after waiting around all day on the chosen day. Had to rebuy from a different company. If you order do pick up from store and somehow get a 300lb home as HD will check the tub for damage.
