A few years ago we added a master bathroom, choosing the Kohler Purist shower door. We loved the door and the sidelights; it really adds to the modern look of our master bath. However, once we began showering in the Master bathroom, we noticed a small rust spot bleeding into the marble saddle. To prevent the spread, we dried the door and saddle after every use, but it continued to bleed and now looks awful. After writing to Kohler several times, they confirmed that the parts that caused the issue are made of brass and plastic (though the hardware is stainless steel). They stated that the parts “should not” stain or rust. They sent me a courtesy replacement set of the same components (in their mind I guess this solves the problem). I have been in my home for 23 years, and have remodeled all my bathrooms; they all have Kohler products, and the bathroom in question includes a Kohler jacuzzi tub, toilet, 2 Kohler sinks with Kohler faucets/towel racks, etc, and of course, the shower door. I am happy with all of their other products but am extremely upset about the shower door and its effect on the marble saddle. This will be my last Kohler purchase.

I don’t understand how people think this door is hard to install? I did it 9 years ago virtually by myself! If you square your opening properly the door will shut into the rubber gasket without any issues. I am building a new bathroom and I will be buying this door again.

I purchased this door 15 yrs ago. I installed myself. I read the reviews star citing difficulty w/ installation. I will say that I had no problems with the installation of this door. If installation instructions are followed you should have a great outcome and an exceptional door. We have had no problems with the operation/functioning of this door. The only issue is that the chrome finish is starting to fail in certain spots. I'll contact Kohler to see how long they stand behind the finish. I would buy this door again.

Shower door installed ok and looks nice though this was more difficult then others to install and the support side that holds the door weight is secure but wobbles some. For what this product cost I dont suggest buying it.

Not for the faint of heart ! This requires a very good installer who can work from bad instructions. It should include a magnet system for proper closure , but does not , and I did take of one star for that . That said , it looks very nice when installed correctly , and the glass is very nice and thick . My unit is a 48 inch model that they do not make any more . I have had mine for 8 years and do not regret my purchase . I am however a very experienced contractor who has installed many different products in my 35 plus years .

We did not install this, a professional did, so we cannot attest to ease of installation. However, it is a nice, solid door with nice hardware and we saved more than $500 off a custom estimate we received.

No issues with delivery. No issues with installation, however, installation is not for the average homeowner. If you buy your tools at Wal-Mart, don't attempt to install it yourself. Seek professional help.... My only issue is that one should be able to have it delivered to the store.

between the ease of installation and the fact that it looks totally custom makes it a great value

I bought this product on the advice of the contractor who refinished my bathrooms. With his skilled installation it fits well and opens easily. It's a great shower door for my guest bath and without the bar above very tall people (visiting sons who are all over 6 ft tall for instance) can use it without having to duck. But I would never have attempted a do-it-yourself install. It is very heavy and has to go in just right so that it opens and closes reliably. Since it is quite expensive I didn't want to take any risks and I am very glad I did not. I expect years of reliable use -- and lots of happy guests.

We ordered the Kohler frameless door kit after getting estimates for custom frameless shower doors. This product saved us more than $1,000 compared to those custom products. Installation was not difficult, w/the notable exception of drilling the mounting holes thru the porcelain tile. Once installed, the door functions superbly. The "clear view" finish on the glass is also a definite bonus. I highly recommend this product to anyone considering a DIY frameless shower door installation!

The door is excellent quality and wasn't too hard to install. Love the look it gave the shower remodel.

Our opening was 34 1/2" so we originally ordered your 33" door since ad stated there was a 3" adjustibility. When our installer was unable to install we contact Kohler and were told door only adjusts downward to 30". We found your ad very misleading and it ended up costing us two installations, one for the 33" & one for the 36". We were not happy campers.Complaint not with your product, complaint with your ad

I love the fact that the door size is adjustable as we have a bit of an odd-sized opening to our shower. The optional hooks on the inside and outside have been really convenient for our loofah and towels. The only reason I put a 4 instead of a 5 for ease of installation is that there's no note forewarning the installer that the holes for the the two sides don't line up, which apparently is the standard configuration. Our guys pre-drilled the holes on both sides of the shower opening only to find out that the holes for the side where the door closes needed to be further back by an inch. This left us with 3 holes in our tile, which we now have to replace. So, for future buyers & installers- check and double check where the holes will need to be drilled before drilling.

The shower door itself is very attractive, making the whole bathroom look bigger.

We have been very happy with our purchase. The clear glass makes the shower look huge. The glass stays clear and clean once the water dries up.

I found and ordered these doors online, and Home Depot was considerably less expensive than its competitors. The doors arrived timely and undamaged. They were apparently not simple to install, as both the original professionals who did the first and the handyman who installed the second one put the side panel in backwards and had trouble figuring out how to get them properly hung. However, once hung, the doors are more than satisfactory. I love them.

Has the appearance of a frameless door without the high price. An upgrade from standard and worth the cost. I had it installed professionally with no problems.

The door is sturdy and attractive. Installation did not go smoothly so door is a bit wobbly where attached to wall. Wish there were a magnetic piece to keep door closed more tightly. Sits on a rubber piece and that holds it in place but easily pops open if tapped. Perhaps the contractor installed it improperly. Be careful and get someone who knows what they are doing,

we needed to replace the shower door in the house we just purchased. we found it at home depot and the price was unbelievable. the door is beautiful - easy to install. we couldn't be happier

This door looks amazing and was easy to install.

Considering that this was one of the more expensive tubs (over $1,500) that HD sells and that it is a name brand, I was surprised by the poor quality of this tub. As soon as it was installed, I got my rubber duckies, filled it up and pressed the "on" buttom only to find that nothing happened. I brought my installer back and he told me that the "on/off" switch was not good. He ended having to install a switch on the wall to get it to work. The plastic knobs that control the jets are likewise very cheap and flimsy. I expect that we will have problems with them down the road.

Item is simple to install and appears to be of good quality, but I accidentally hit the edge of the glass door against the bathroom sink and it chipped. So, even though it's of good quality, beware of the easily chipable edge of the glass door. Oh by the way, I grabbed the door by the edges and received a cut. It appears that the edge is not smoothed out enough to prevent a sharp edge.

I agree with the previous reviewers. My installer struggled with the installation of this door. I looked over it myself and the instructions and how it fits together makes no sense. The door has a huge design flaw....it doesn't close all the way. There is no mechanism for keepng the door shut. I highly recommend you DON'T buy this. Also, the glass side panel does not fit snugly into the metal parts making the door wobbly. I am very disappointed with this purchase.

The shower door was extremely difficult to install, and I was working with my contractor to install it. We had to shave down the metal guide pin to get the glass side panel to fit, had to add nylon washers to prevent the door hinge from ripping the door gasket. The mechanism for keeping the door closed is also less than perfect.

This door is designed very poorly - we follow the direction for the installation but the door does not close properly. Be aware that the door is not very secure also. I love the look but I am afraid that it won't last very long.

This door is very pretty but unfortunately, the contractor could not figure out how to install correctly (nor could we) and in the end the door does not close completely. Still have not figured out what I will end up doing about it.

My fitters had a little trouble fitting the door - low tolerances, and our opening was not 'perfect.' However we love the end results.
