I bought a new K-1044CP. Cartridge is bad according to my plumber. Trying to find a new cartridge.

Pull out doesn't pull back
Faucet works fine. Good finish. However, the pull-out doesn't retract well. There is a weight is around the hose under the sink with a supplied "zip tie" to keep it up on the hose. However, the tie is so slim the weight slips through the tie to the bottom of the loop, which in effect reduces the weight on the nozzle and increases weight on the hose connection (not good), I jerry-rigged a long tie around the hose, up the weight and again around the hose above the weight. This seems to help. However, any slight touch to the nozzle causes it to fall loose and dangle. POOR Engineering on this. There needs to be a spring retraction and/or magnetic connection to better this product.

Hello M Mack, my name is Kassi with Kohler Co. I am sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with your new Forte kitchen faucet. The zip tie on the hose should go underneath the weight holding the weight up. It should be about 2"-3" up from the loop. There is also an insert that the sprayhead attaches into in the neck of the faucet that could cause the sprayhead not to seat back into the neck properly. Could you please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-4-KOHLER? We would like to visit with you and find a satisfactory resolution for you! We look forward to hearing from you! -Kassi D., Kohler Customer Service

Please Consider Something Else!
I have bought Kohler in the past with the perception; based on price, of quality - therefore DEPENDABILITY! But unfortunately after buying this faucet and having the sprayer button break off and now the check valve split in too I must reconsider my choices! On top of it all Kohler does not ship the parts to fix/repair their product to Canada?! So where does that leave me? Another Brand. Another faucet worth hundreds of dollars and hopefully a better experience!

We bought one of these faucets for a kitchen remodel in 2008. A few weeks ago I contacted Kohler to inquire as to where I could find parts for this tap. Namely a cartridge, a top trim ring and some plastic spacers that align the faucet body. The cartridge was getting sticky to shut off and I marked the top trim ring when I was taking the tap apart. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an e-mail back from customer service, informing me that I had a limited life time warranty and that the parts I needed had been shipped to my home address, free of charge. When I buy another faucet, you can be assured that it will be a Kohler. Customer service exceeded all of my expectations..

Issues
I have had this unit for a few years. The base is faulty, as it will no longer swivel. I had a professional plumber install the unit and it work great for a few years. But it now is worthless as I can't move it.

Great faucet until it wasn't
This faucet was already installed in our condo when we bought it, which means it was a little under 8 years old when we bought the place. The faucet worked great. It had great water pressure and you could tell it was high quality. Unfortunately the plastic button used to switch from stream to spray mode broken off shortly after we moved in. I was worried that Kohler wouldn't replace it as we weren't the original owners, but they happily sent us the part free of charge. Recently the faucet started leaking from inside; unfortunately the leak ran under the cupboard and wasn't discovered for about a month. This ended up causing black mould and about $2000 worth of water damage to our kitchen. Thank god for home owners insurance! When I contacted Kholer their customer service again was great, and they sent me a brand new replacement faucet free of charge. All & all the product worked great for the 10 years it was in our condo, and I would like to give the product more stars, but the cost and an inconvience of the water damage prevents me from giving it a better rating. I'm also not sold on keeping the replacement faucet (which has yet to be installed due to the restoration work) as I'd rather go with a different style of faucet. It would have been awesome if Kohler just gave you a credit instead of replacing the same one, as I definitely would have picked a higher arc style model.

After 6 Years - Still Going!
I bought this unit in December 2009. No problems with it, but recently it started to not swivel properly. Since I hadn't installed it originally, removing and disassembling the unit was a challenge, but the manual had good instructions / schematics. I spoke to Kohler customer service and they gave me really good advice. I soaked all of the metal parts in vinegar overnight and cleaned and polished everything. It seems that eventually, water and grunge will get around the O-rings and builds up causing the unit to not swivel properly. The vinegar bath did wonders and it is like a new faucet.
Pros: Looks great, easy controls
Cons: The switch on the spray arm is very cheap and you can't switch it when water is flowing. The quick coupler on the sprayer hose was a nightmare - a better description / drawing would be nice.

recurring issue with the handle breaking off
Just as several others have mentioned, after a couple of years of use the handle started to flip off the base. Now every time I turn on the faucet the handle ends up in the sink or in my hands. The plastic parts inside just break. I was happy with the faucet until this happened - it is easy to pull out and handles smoothly - unlike the cheap faucet I had before which would stick when I tried to use the pull out feature.

Great Customer Service
After about a year the handle started coming loose so every few months I need to tighten it. The button that changes the stream to a spray fell off while using the disposal. It won't stay on now so I called Kohler Customer Service and they are sending me a new button under warranty even after 4 years. The faucet isn't great but the customer service is.

DEFECTED HEAD
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! THE PULL OUT PART IS DEFECTED AND TILTS TOWARDS YOU... so instead of it aiming down towards dishes, my whole kitchen gets wet!
I just paid the plumber $100 to get this installed and now i have to call him back and repay him to switch it out

We purchased 2 of these about a year ago. Now one of them has a broken handle assembly.
We are replacing one of two because the handle assembly broke.after less than a year. One more chance and then we will change brands.

Insubstantial
The handle of this faucet is light. That disconcerts me. I like to feel something more substantial in my hand. More annoying than that, however, is that the faucet does not and apparently will not face down. The hose through which the water flows at rest points about one and half inches toward me. I pull the faucet out and twist twist the hose in the opposite direction, that is toward the other side of the sink, let the head retract; and, lo, the faucet stubbornly persists in its side-ways at rest. Perhaps this is because the apparatus is new. I hope so.

BEWARE! Handle comes off!
Bought this faucet in Jul 2012. Was easy to install and loved it up until two days ago when, without warning, the handle came right off, revealing cheap plastic parts inside the valve stem adapter. Not only that, when the handle fell off it put a nice dent in the base plate. Called Kohler and requested two valve stem adapters (one for back up if this happens again as I don't want to be waiting 10 days and using a semi-functioning faucet) as well as a replacement base plate. Customer service is good but doesn't make up for the poor quality of this product. Don't think it's unreasonable to expect a $250 faucet to last longer than 14 months but I guess my expectations are just too high. Ironically, the Kohler website boasts 'A single level of quality regardless of price'. If that's the case, they've got some problems. . . which unfortunately become our problems. Bottom line: DO NOT BUY!!

Loving it so far
We've had this kitchen faucet for about a month and really love it. It's bigger than our last one and higher (but not huge like some other). So now our water pitcher fits under the faucet, making it easy to refill. It looks great, and easily switches from regular to spray without having to pull out the handle -- but if you need to pull out the handle, it's easy to pull out and put back.

Design flaws
I am not too happy with this faucet. The pull out spout line is flimsy and light making it easy to twist. What happens is that the spout does not sit nicely back in place. It shifts and slants to the right. It could use a magnet, or a groove design to keep the spout taut and in line and pointing in the down direction it should.
I thought maybe the weight was not heavy enough, but I added the weight from my old faucet on top, and it helps a bit, but the real cause is the way the line twists.
We find the water pressure is weak.
The groove on the handle makes water stream down to back of the counter. But the worse part is the leaking under the sink. I can't find the source. I hope Home Depot exchanges this product, because the only thing good about it is looks and easy installation.

Dissapointed
Decided to spend more than budgeted because it's a Kohler, but about 12 months after install, the lever that controls the water gets loose and wobbles and I have to use a small screw driver to tighten it about every 3 weeks. We're very careful with the handle, but it's now and ongoing problem. Unfortunately I'm going to have to shell out another $200 to buy something I don't have to worry about.

Great with some minor caveats
Faucet looks great and handles just as well. The flowrate is adequate and not too powerful. You can pre-set the max heat. The handle stays where you want it and "remembers" your last temperature setting (ie. it is easy to isolate the rotation and elevation motions of the handle).
Be careful however. If you installing this yourself you will likely need to purchase a 1/2" female to 3/8" male adaptor for the H/C water feeds. No where on the box does it warn you of this. The counterweight (used to help autoretract the pull-out spray) would be better designed like Moen's, which itself clamps onto the tube (instead of relying on one-use plastic tie that comes with this model). Finally, the pull out spray retracts into a loose circular housing, which is undesirable becase it doesn't quite sit as firmly and as still as I'd expect. A snugger-fitting, non-circular opening would be my preference.

I liked the look of this faucet on display in the store, but not so much at home. I find the spray is weak and you never get a good pressure for rinsing off dishes. For my sink, it is also too big (i.e. it stretches too far forward) and I am always getting water on my counter. The pull-out mechanism is OK, but it doesn't seem to lock back in very well.

Kohler Faucet
We purchased this faucet in August 2007 when we remodeled our kitchen. It looks nice and worked well until recently. The toggle button on the head which switches it from a spray to a steady stream popped off on one side. I can pop it back in place but it never has operated the same and is falling off more and more.
The reason I said I would recommend this product is because of the customer service from Kohler. I called them direct and they are sending out a replacement head in 5-7 days.
