We installed this in order to deal with two issues we were having. One was that we found out that an air gap is required by code in CA (more of a legal thing and operating issues) and two, we had installed a farmhouse single drain sink and we were having water draining issues due to venting or lack there of. Even though everything was plumbed properly, the sink wouldn't vent (it couldn't breath) and the water had issues draining, it was real slow and seemed to take forever. The installation of the air gap fixed the draining problem immediately. No matter how much water is in the sink, it drains normally now with the air gap. The farmhouse sink did make it creative to get to the back of the sink to install it, but I resolved it by running a string down through the installation hole, tying it to the air gap (already hooked up to the two hoses), then gently pulling it back up through the hole with the string. I could then detach the string and thread on the top nut to finish the installation. The installation is on a one and and half inch thick butcher block counter top and the air gap unit had plenty of thread available for the material thickness.

Beautiful product, just what we needed.

Nice overall but the brushed stainless finish could be better quality - looks inexpensive compared to my faucet and soap dispenser - not as smooth and high end looking as it could be.

The Kohler dishwasher air-gap was of excellent quality and the plumber had no problem installing it.

Comes with one gasket which instructions tell you to put beneath the counter. I’ve put it beneath & above & it makes no difference. If you get water Around the air gap it LEAKS & runs down the connections & soaks under the sink. Used plumbers putty, tighten the PLACTIC fittings & it still leaks around the air gap!!! Afraid to tighten too much because everything is cheap plastic. Wound not buy again.

Easy to install and complimented the faucet replacement nicely.

Unlike the version in my house this unit replaced, if the decorative cap comes off accidentally, water will NOT pour all over the counter with it’s superior design. So for that it gets 5 stars.
