I purchased this same one to replace my 10 year old. Should have left it alone. When the new one came and installed it since I was familiar, easy install. When I put the batteries in and click on the display screen, I notice the screen display washed out. Looked like moisture. Called Honeywell, wait was 45 minutes on hold, and customer service stated the moisture might have come from sitting in the Warehouse. That was comforting. In the meantime the thermostat lasted 3 days and it died. I switched back to my old one because needed the air and its working fine. By the way the Warehouse was Home Depot Warehouse in Indiana. I'll have to look elsewhere. Very disappointed because my first programmable thermostat worked fine.

For the price the product is working very well. The programmable feature is not only a convenience , it is also a cost saving plus. It is easy to program and with the back light it is easy to see.

I used the 7-Day Universal Programmable Thermostat to replace my older unit, which is no longer available. This unit is designed to replace a large variety of other thermostats. Installation was straight forward and easy. I needed to call customer service twice for help with special questions. Customer service was easy to reach and knowledgeable. This is a huge plus. It works just fine.

Temperature variance is very small with only a 1° swing. (Old one was 2°-3° and frustrating!) Easy to read panel (even in a dark room) with the back light and large font. Installation took about 8 minutes, but the wires had to be forced into position. Programming isn't hard but does take several minutes to run through all the days and options. Overall, very pleased with this purchase, especially coupled with the savings of Home Depot's "buy of the day".

I bought two of these units and wish I had done this years ago. A great buy... easy to install... and they work great. You get the quality thermostat, easy to follow instructions, and the customer service backup you expect from Honeywell.

This multi- level thermostat was very easy to install and works great. Now we are saving money by the auto settings that cool us at night and warm us in winter. Have recommended to a couple of friends that still have the standard types.

I bought this programmable thermostat for my office/shop. We don't need the heat or a/c running all night, just when we are in the office. Great features, easy to install, and easy to use. It has different settings for weekdays and weekends. It kicks on a little while before we arrive in the morning and back off as we are leaving in the evening. Plus, it saves us money. It paid for itself the first month.

The instructions were easy to follow. It took very little time to changeover from the old mercury style to the new programmable thermostat. It has really made a difference on our heating bills.

This thermostat was very easy to install and program. You don't even need the directions to reprogram. It is very straight forward and intuitive. Will recommend this to everyone!

Navigation of the system is cumbersome. Does the job, but unit just feels cheap.

Great in Theory, Poor in Design and Execution This thermostat had all of the features I desired. I even appreciated the ability to customize the programming for my type of heating system (gas hot water heat), although others might fault the complexity of the optional programming steps. Nevertheless, in the space of 2 months, I bought and needed to replace this thermostat twice. Yet even the third one has problems, making this thermostat unacceptable. The first thermostat had a programming error. The default program requires only setting the date and time without going into the system setup. However, I was only able to change these settings by going into the system setup. Although the programming error was a minor nuisance, I decided to replace the thermostat. The first replacement was nonfunctional, not displaying any information on the screen, even though it was plugged into the wired base (wallplate) of the first thermostat. The second replacement worked perfectly, even easily setting the date and time. However, during the winter, I noticed several idiosyncrasies. This thermostat model simultaneously displays 2 temperatures – the current room temperature and the set temperature, a feature I desired. However, when the room temperature is within 2 degrees of the set temperature, it begins passively displaying the set temperature rather than the room temperature. This gives a false sense that the room temperature is constantly maintained; whereas in fact, the room temperature fluctuates. On a cold day, the thermostat would overheat the room, despite setting the heating cycle rate for my heating system (hot water radiators). Both temperature displays (room and set temperature) showed 68 degrees. Yet a calibrated instant read thermometer held near the thermostat registered air temperature of 72 deg. Slowly, over a period of hours, the actual room temperature would drift down towards the set temperature of 68 degrees. By chance, I discovered that the thermostat apparently measures the radiant temperature of the wall upon which it is mounted. Due to the mass of the wall, it takes longer to heat the wall than the air, creating a temperature lag. Consequently, the boiler keeps running, overheating the room, until the wall temperature reaches the set temperature. As the wall cools down, the boiler is turned on again, even though the air temperature still exceeds the set temperature. Despite several calls to Honeywell customer service, I was unable to find out whether these idiosyncrasies (toggling display between room and set temperature; monitoring radiant temperature) were an error or a design feature. The final and most troubling problem occurred during the summer. Twice, I noticed the lack of any display until I slightly pressed on the thermostat to re-seat it on the wallplate (base unit) providing power to the unit. Without power from the house current, the back-up battery is drained; and the stored program is lost. I really tried to like this thermostat. But in all honesty, I could never recommend this thermostat, or any Honeywell product again. Honeywell is a storied name in measuring devices; yet the reputation is no longer deserved due to poor quality control of their manufacturing. I can only hope that a Honeywell representative sees this scathing review; and contacts me to resolve these problems.

The 7-day programmable thermostat has been installed. I am pleased that it offers settings for each day. This will serve us well going forward. Yes, I would recommend this 7-day thermostat.

Excellent product! Packaging contains labels for the wires. Install was easy - just ensure that you pay attention to the wiring on your existing thermostat and install them in the correct slot(s) on your new one. Note: Turn off furnace circuit breaker prior to replacement.

We installed this thermostat approximately a month back, and it is working very well with our conventional furnace (heat only, no AC). Installation was straightforward, and programming is easy. The thermostat has been switching the heat on and off correctly to maintain the set temperature. The display is clear and readable after the back light comes on with the press of a button. It always shows the current room temperature, and also the set temperature when the program is running. Turning the program ON/OFF requires 3 button presses (would be nice if it could be done with a single button press), but that is a minor issue that we can live with.

I found this device to be extremely difficult to program. I've tried twice and it is still not working properly, or as expected.

Does what it suppose to do. Works great.

Does not illuminate at night and presetting auto seems to take more steps than expected

I installed it myself but only after watching a YouTube video on a two wire system. It works excellent and was extremely easy to program.

Came in mail open package and actual device was separated. Snapped back together but did work or gold program. Returned to home depot

So far, the thermostat seems to work okay. I am giving it time to determine if the device is built to last fo a long time. But so, far, no complaints.

I had one in my home in Houston and loved the programmable feature. When I moved to Dallas/Fort Worth area I had to have one for this home. It is an excellent feature for someone who wants to control their environment. I use it for day and night control - during the day it is 76 and at night 73.

Easy to use. large enough to read. fairly easy to program.

Simple - for a 7 day, does what what's its supposed to for 4 few years now.

We installed over 300 of these thermostats on a student housing project recently. The installation is straightforward. It is a very basic thermostat and doesn’t have all the bells and whistles like a Nest but for the cost it will do what you need it to do. A good feature of this thermostat is the ability to lock the controls. Granted anyone could figure out how to unlock them by spending a few minutes on Google but it helps prevent someone from walking by and changing the temp.

works great except seems to not stay programed ? Had one before and it always worked great. Could be I haven,t set it up properly?

Bought this to replace a Nest Thermostat that was driving me crazy. While the Nest has many more features it's one fault (of many in my opinion) besides being an over priced toy, is that it allows the temperature to vary 3 or 4 degrees. The Honeywell maintains the environment to one degree. The wide temperature variance of the Nest makes for an uncomfortable environment, while the Honeywell maintains the temperature more accurately. Having been trained and experienced in the Heating / A.C. industry I prefer to stick with controls from Honeywell who have many decades of proven reliability.

I had this model thermostat for around 13yrs before it stopped working. I purchased this model again because it was very accurate and reliable would highly recommend.

Works as advertised. Programming instructions are vague but once you figure it out it's really very easy. Lighted display is a real plus.

The install is easy and programmed already if you want to change the temp or programming the instructions are easy to follow. I recommend this product.
