First, don't let the overall rating fool ya. This is a GREAT product to have, especially if you're looking to organize. Obviously you're not limited to shoes. You can store personal products, cleaning supplies, etc but I wouldn't recommend papers and do NOT store food items in this. Long story short, if you can afford it, PURCHASE IT. You won't be disappointed!! Why three stars then? Because I didn't expect this to do anything other than help me organize my shoes and other miscellaneous items. It helps me to do exactly what I intended it to do, so I'm not exceedingly amazed at its functionality. It's durable and easily transportable so one can think of it as long term investment. I thought it would sway greatly as I opened/closed the door I hung it from. It didn't - it practically stayed flush on the door's surface. Very nice. Another bonus - you can clean it (carefully) and wash it (carefully) but check to make sure whatever cleaner/soap you use does not cause discoloration. The product is easy to mount but there are three things to consider. One, make sure the door you want to hang this from has the spacing on it's top edge to mount the hooks. The hooks are thin and flat but one of my doors wouldn't close properly because of the presence of the hooks. I moved the product to another door and it worked fine. I've seen some of these nailed onto a door (which, IMO, looks crude). Two, consider if you'll have this mounted on the inside surface or outside surface of the door. Lastly, if you do place shoes in the pockets, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE SHOES SMELLING FRESH!! If you have sweaty/smelly shoes, do NOT put them in the pockets. The smell will permeate the closet/room/etc. If you have have leather shoes in the pockets, be prepared to encounter a "leathery" smell.

After failed attempts to hang my over-the-door shoe organizers that had prongs (purchased at Target and Home Depot), I decided to go with this organizer that had pockets instead. While the actual pronged organizer accommodated many shoe sizes, the structure was not sound and it collapsed or would bow, so I had to return them. This shoe organizer is sturdy and there is nothing to assemble. However, it accommodates my summer shoes and flip flops but shoes with large heels are hard to get in the pockets. I wish the pockets were deeper for that reason. I will have to keep all high wedges, and heels over 4" with my boots for that reason. Still, it's better than waking up in the morning to open a closet door and have shoes spill out due to poor quality.
