Modified to be better
Recommended for appearance only. Electronics are poor as stated in previous reviews. Wife wanted a bright light but with sheik appearance for remodeled walk-in closet. I needed reliability as the bulbs are expensive. Ultimately I also purchased a Lithonia 2-Light High Output Multi-Volt T5 Fluorescent White Wraparound from Home Depot gutted the electronics and wiring harness. The Hampton Bay Arctic Glacier was gutted and the new internals swapped in. Wire shielding and guards reused as well. Looks great and works great. Wife is happy!

I purchased 3 of these fixtures and 2 have now failed within the warranty period, apparently due to undersized ballasts. Home Depot has been very helpful and prompt about replacing the defective units and I like the styling of the unit, but it has still been a hassle to deal with.

I have 7 of these 3-lite (and matching 2-lite) linear fixtures installed in various small rooms during a recent renovation. Pros: Nice light output, not just downwards--this light fixture projects light horizontally to upper areas of the surrounding walls (such as to upper shelves of closets). Nice flush mount; it doesn't hang down much (good for rooms with low ceiling headspace) Nice lens mounting system with levers that grab the lens and firmly retain it as you rotate the lever to its hidden position. Attractive lens looks like frosted glass--it doesn't look like the cheap monochrome, flat acrylic seen in most other similar fixtures Cons: Eats expensive F28T5 lightbulbs. Regularly. Often. Frequently. Ballast design is marginal--contributes to bulb failures and toasting (overheating) the bulbs Ballasts fail. They're a special order part. :( Emits digital buzzy whine sound as the bulbs and ballasts age.

I am very angry about this light fixture. We have had ours for about 3 years. It has always been somewhat unreliable electronically - sometimes 1 of the bulbs does not light or it flickers, etc. Now none of the lamps work. My husband is in the process of replacing the ballast and finds that it has one "1 lamp ballast" for the 3 lamps. This is apparently a short cut and may be the source of our problems. We can find no 3 lamp ballast locally. We don't really want to put in another 1 lamp ballast because that is not appropriate.

Would give 0 stars if it would let me
First of all the product itself is probably fine. What I found when I openned the package was a fixture that has been openned and put out for restock. The item had been installed or it was attempted and there was a large hole cut in the base along with the plastic globe was broken and the mounting hardware missing. The problem was with the return desk and the manager over that department. I was told that when items are returned and the customer says that the item is fine, they just tape up the box, restock it on the floor without examining the contents. That is the "policy". "It saves time and cost" I was told. Seems ro me having to handle 2 returns for the same item INCREASES your cost had they taken 1 minute to examine the already openned box the first time it was returned. Guess I will have ro open every item I purchase at Home Depot before leaving the store to make sure it is in tact!

Workes great except it gets hot and lamps need to be replaced all the time.
I replaced a 2 lamp T12 fixture with this lamp to be energy efficient. Although I recommend this light it goes through all 3 of the T5 $11.00 bulbs in a few months. It gets very hot inside. I probably replaced all of the T5 lamps 6 times. I had it for a few years and Like the frosted lens look for the kitchen. I looked everywhere for LED replacement lamps or a way to change the ballast to be LED type.

          Poor quality
Fixture was purchased late June 2013 - one ballast was replaced within the first 1.5 years. The fixture now (July 2016) illuminates for 10 seconds and goes dark. I haven't called customer support to see if the 3 years warranty will be honored in some part.

            Unreliable fixture
My contractor told me to go and pick out a light fixture for my laundry room. I picked this one for looks (good for a laundry room). I've had it about 3 years now and have had to replace the bulbs every 3 to 4 months. Sometimes the light fixture works and sometimes it doesn't (but starts up again an hour later), I'm in Southern California so it's not because it's too cold!. My laundry room is sun lit and bright during the day so I don't turn the light on very often or for very long but the bulbs continue to burn out very quickly. The bulbs last for less then 500 hours (and that's being generous). I'd never buy another fixture from this company! By the time I realized the issue my contractor was long gone and Home Depot said it only had a 90 day warrantee.

Replaced original after only 3 years
This 3 bulb light fixture was purchased to replace an identical unit that was installed on Jan 25, 2013. The old fixture quit operating almost to the day 3 years from the date of original installation. With a change in design & type of the ballasts, I decided it would be cheaper to purchase a new fixture than try to fix the old one.

              Buy another product
Product looks good and is easy to install. Those are the only two positives for this fixture. Electronics are poor quality. Only two of three bulbs will light at the same time regardless of how many times the bulbs are replaced. When the unit has been on for 5-10 minutes, the heat causes the plastic levers securing the cover to expand and make loud clicking noises. I would not recommend this product.

              Junk fixture
Currently on our second fixture. Rarely will all three lights come on when needed. Constant clicking of the plastic clips to hold the cover in place once the light heats up.

              Terrible Product
I join with others. I installed fixture in March 2013, and had to replace bulbs 4 times already (now Jul '15). So figure out bulb life: 6 mos x maybe 5 hours a day = 900 hrs. 5 hours a day is generous. BUT it's a laundry/pantry and switching must occur well over 10 times a day. Forgot the other reviewer's handle, but if the hi-voltage shot to excite the mercury is the cause, this fixture SHOULD NOT BE USED in a common household area. AND THEREFORE, the box or the floor consultants should so warn potential consumers.

              Do not buy!
Returned twice, after installing, as only two of the three lights would light . Ended up returning it a third time in order to switch to another brand. Shocked that HD even stocks this light.

                Tempermental
I bought two of these for my kitchen a couple weeks ago. Right from the start, both of them would intermittently only light one of the three bulbs. I found that by rotating the middle bulb extremely slowly (I've seen snails move faster), I can get all three bulbs to light up again...for a little while. Within a couple days, you have to play around with the middle bulb again to find the "sweet spot" where all three bulbs will light up again. Very frustrating. Too bad the boxes went into the trash that day or I'd rip them back out and return them. I'll end up buying different fixtures and installing them and relegate these to garage or shop use.

                Dead after a year
I remember when products were built to last more than a year, or more than 10 years. The fixture looks great. It has a nice design. The lights are bright at first. Within 3 to 6 months the ballast started going bad and would only light two of the lights. The other would flicker so bad I removed it. Now 12 months after purchase the ballast is dead. Home Depot probably won't let me exchange it. You know the manufacturer won't return it. I'm stuck buying new ballast or a new fixture. Maybe it's time to buy LED.

Buy yourself a couple of cases of T5 bulbs to go with it.
In 2.5 years I have replaced the bulbs twice after the original install, so three sets of bulbs, and the ones in it now are currently blown. One will blow, a few days later the second and third will follow suit. This fixture takes the very skinny T5 bulbs which cost $11 a piece, so in 2.5 years I have spent over $99 on bulbs for a $90 fixture, so I guess I'm the idiot. I'm not a fan of fluorescent lighting to begin with but I bought this one to replace a 30 year old fixture and liked it because it was very plain but still decorative enough to not look commercial, it blended well with the ceiling.

Piece of junk, looks great but doesn't work
About to return my second one. The original light did not work properly right out of the box as only one of the three tubes lit at first. After a minute or two the other tubes finally lit and the light seemed to work fine after that for about a month. But then it went back to only one tube working and the other two bulbs had started turning black near their edges, I assumed due to faulty ballasts. Bought another one and it worked fine out of the box but now one week later and it has the same problem, only one bulb working. Needless to say, but I won't be buying another one.

                  Buy a different product
I have bought 2 of these over the past 12 months and neither lasted more 6 months. I am very disappointed with this product and I agree with another review that Home Depot should remove this from their shelves. Don't waste your money as I did! Twice sadly.

This light eats bulbs for breakfast
Bought this fixture less then a year ago and have gone through six bulbs. As noted by the other reviewer, the ballasts are instant start which is nice for a quick turn on, but produces horrible lifespan for the bulbs.

Pull this from your shelves .......
This fixture has been very frustrating. It quickly blew out bulbs left and right resulting in a lot of money invested to replace them. After researching the additional reviews written since we purchased, its clearly a lemon! This item MUST be pulled from the shelf. Customer service was not helpful when I made them aware of our problems and how reviews indicated exactly the same issue from many purchasers. The good thing is the EASY opening of the cover. Best thing since sliced bread....I wouldn't have needed this nicety if the darn thing didn't ruin so many bulbs. It was also attractive with the marbled look cover.....different from the competetors. Fix the ballasts, if that is the problem, or pull it off the shelves HD!

                        Beautiful Example of Fluorescent
Initially went shopping for Non-Fluorescent light for a new large Walk-In Closet (Non Fan of Fluorescent). However, This Fluorescent presented with a whole new look, as well as, powerful lighting! Extremely Pleased with this purchase.

Great Customer Service on a Bad Product
Update: Got a hold of HD again and they offered to swap the light out for store credit on another light. Head of the electrical dept, Mary, in the Littleton, NH store, said she'd heard complaints on this light and immediately offered the solution, especially after I explained my expenditures, toils, and the unhappy wife... I can't express enough my satisfaction with HD's customer care. Defective product? Absolutely. But they made it right, and even gave us a discount on the replacement fixture. Good on them.

                        Looks great, but doesn't work!
Bought this for a walk-in closet. Illumination is terrific, and the light looks great. However after the first two or three months, bulbs started burning out or were slow to illuminate. I discussed the problem with the electrician at HD who was very helpful, but could not isolate the problem. He offered to swap out the fixture after I had gone through my second set of bulbs. I swapped it out, and three months later, same problems. I was told it was probably a loose ground, so I uninstalled it, and the switch, and reinstalled everything making sure the connections were solid. No joy. Light still does not work. Am taking it back to HD and getting another fixture. It's really too bad because this light gives off the illumination I need in that dark and spacious closet, and looks great. I am shocked that after all the bad reviews regarding the same problem that HD still sells this fixture. I've wasted a lot of time, gas, and money on this fixture with nothing to show for it but an unhappy wife.

                        Very poor quality
Our light was installed in January of 2014 here we are in the first part of May looking to replace the expensive lights. After reading all the other reviews I plan to take this light back and replace it with a different lighting system. Very disappointed I am not into replacing anything on this light fixture!! I plan to return the light fixture!!

                        Bulbs Don't Last
Great looking product and works great for a kitchen, so I installed them for 2 kitchen apartments. The first one killed the bulbs in about 8 months and the second one in about 10 months. T5 bulbs are expensive x3. Even worse, the fixture is now half of what they cost me 12 months ago.
