Another great product from Home Depot and HDX. This filter fits the following Filter models: FILTER 5, 4396510 KitchenAid: 4396163 Thermoform: 491879 Kenmore: 46-9010, 46-9902, 46-9908 Maytag: 8212652 Puriclean: IV, 8212652. It is capable of filtering 300 gallons of water which is about the standard capacity of most filters. Sold at a great price and it much better for the environment than plastic water bottles

What can you say about a replacement filter for a fridge? It was packaged well and really doesn’t need instructions as it’s obvious on how to use it. The plastic bag and caps on the end of the filter keep everything clean and sanitary until it’s time to install. Works just as good as the original as far as I can tell. Would happily buy this when it’s time to replace the filter again.

The size is 10.37 inches in Height ~ 2.1 inches in Width and 2.1 inches in Depth. We have well water and use an all house filtration system and a separate one just for our refrigerator water and ice cube maker. We have been complemented on our "Great" tasting drinking water and love to share "our secret". The filtering reduces impurities, sediment and even rust that may be present in your drinking water. It's recommended to be used for approximately 300 gallons of water or for about 6 months. It replaces at least 1500 water bottles! An environmental plus. This Eco friendly filter uses a coconut shell carbon, known as the earth's most powerful natural filter. To install new filter turn the cartridge ¼ turn counter clockwise and remove old filter. Remove the cap from the new filter and I put the clear cap onto the old on to prevent water spills from some left in the old filter. Then put the knob on the new filter and turn ¼ turn clockwise until seated. We use the pliers as the make it easier when working in such a small area. We would recommend this filter. I have been using the HDX filters for many years and they stack-up to be just as good as the big name brand filters. Maybe better. This filter (#107030) fits my Maytag Fridge (Mod # MFI2665XEM7) and a bunch of others as well. We have well water and it can get a sulfur smell in the summer but this filter seems to take that smell away. This filter also filters out any fine particles (sand) and helps reduce the rust stains. These are very easy to install, turn the water off to the fridge. Drain water pressure. Remove the old filter, install and your done. Well almost, like all the other filters I always flush the carbon out of the water by running the water till clear. In the past these came with a set of month stickers, but those don't seem to be included anymore. Its easy enough to take a marker and write the month on the filter body. Overall these save tons of money, they do a great job and seem to last us six months between changes.

There is a good feature about this particular Refrigerator Water Filter. The half-inch rectangular tab at the bottom gives you a good grip to twist on – and, especially, to remove this device. These filters have a tendency to lock themselves into the holder. Even with the water turned off, and no pressure on the filter, they are frequently difficult to twist off. This tab at the bottom is a great help. The manufacturer recommends that these filters be replaced every six months or after filtering about 300 gallons of water.

The ice cubes and water taste fresh and are crystal clear. It is easy to install and replace when necessary. They also come in a handy package of two. I am very happy to have found them.

The first time i purchased a HDX filter i was very happy with it, now i love them. we ordered this and it arrived in four days well packed and in new condition. in my opinion these HDX filters outperform the OEM filters. they do just as good a job but they seem to last longer. the water is clean looking and fresh tasting. any time i find the filter i need in HDX brand i get the HDX, i am very happy with the filters.

I was hesitant at first because it wasn't the normal Whirlpool filter that I previously used, but because of the HD quality that I have come to expect, I gave it a try. It is just as good if not better that the more expensive Whirlpool filter. I will definitely stick with using the HDX FMW-2 moving forward.

I recently purchased the HDX FMW-2 replacement filter that is an alternative to the Whirlpool replacement filter 5. The water tastes the same with this filter: crisp, fresh and clean-tasting. I’m saving a lot of money using the replacements. The replacements come in a two-pack and cost just a little more than buying one of the Whirlpool filters. This is by far the best deal.

This is a high quality filter, as good as the OEM brand, and easy to install. Just follow the quick start guide for the FMW-2 and be sure to remove the cap. Run the water for 3 minutes to insure the filter is activated. Note that the FMW-2 does NOT replace the WCF3 for Frigidaire models (my mistake), but fits the Whirlpool filter 5. These quality filters are NSF certified as well has other certifications.

These filters will removes chemicals such as, herbicides, insecticides, sand, silt, sediment, rust, chlorine and more. They make your water and ice cubes taste great. I have used HDX filters before and they have never let me down. The filter does not remove minerals that are good for you. They are super easy to install and takes less than 1 minute to do so.

This was a good price on this filter for my 21 year old fridge. The filters are removed by twisting them counter clockwise 90° and then pulling firmly. When you put the new filter in the handle will be oriented horizontally and you slide it in ‘til you feel resistance and then push harder to snap at forward about 1/4 inch. Then turn it 90° clockwise till the handle is vertical. That’s all there is to it. Mine didn’t leak at all, and the carbon filter takes all of the debris out of the water as well as the chlorine taste.

I bought this to replace the water filter in our Samsung refrigerator. I used the model code, which is the same as the one on the present filter, so I’m hoping it will fit even though this says Whirlpool on it. This came so over packaged! It is a small cylindrical filter that came in a box that would fit at least 10 such filters so it had to be filled in with many many plastic bubble bags. I don’t like having to dispose of all that extra packaging so hope the company takes heed and revamps their packaging.

It's so very quick and easy to install just push out the old one and push and twist in the new one. I would definitely buy these filters again and again when I need to cha ge my filter. It also has a sticker so you can keep track of when you need to change it whi h is very convenient as well.

HDX FMW-2 Filter 5 offers a great quality fridge filter at a great value. I tried another brand but decided to come back to the HDX brand. The filters are just as good as the other brands. The HDX brands offer a greater value on their two packs. The instructions are easy to follow. The filters are easy to insert into my fridge grill. The water is fresh, clear, and great tasting. HDX offers several size filters for different models of refrigerators.

I was amazed to find out that there was another option than having to purchase a Whirlpool or Kenmore water filter for my refrigerator. I found the HDX FMW-2 water filter offered by the Home Depot that was a perfect match. After reviewing the specifications, I noticed they both reduce the chlorine, bad taste, cysts and chemicals including lead and VOC's. It also filters out pharmaceuticals, BPA and PFOA/PFOS and is effective for 6 months or 300 gallons. It is NSF certified and makes me feel good about the ice and water coming out of my refrigerator. I did notice that when bleeding out the system, there was much more carbon that had to be bleed out compared to the manufactures filter. I am hoping that is a good thing providing better filtration.

I decided to try the HDX brand refrigerator filter. It seems well made and just as good as the Whirlpool brand filter. It has a 300 gallon service life, just like the OEM filter. These are made in USA, which is a plus for myself. Installation is a 30 second task. the "O" seals look high quality. Whirlpool recommends replacing these filters every 6 months, so the savings are significant.

I have a Whirlpool Estate side-by-side refrigerator with a built-in filter at the bottom. The name-brand filters work fine but are expensive. This Home Depot HDX filter is a perfect fit for my refrigerator and can replace the other brands of filters. The filter will accept the special refrigerator grille plug. It also has a reminder sticker so you can keep track of the last filter change. The packaging is the usual clam-shell package so you will need a knife or scissors to open it. My filter part number is 4396508 and this filter works.
