So far, so good! There was only one hitch on the install and that was more an issue of me not reading to the bottom of the instructions (had power to the switch but not the fixture - there's something about switching two of the wires which fixed the problem). Very detailed instructions, which is good for someone like me who really needs a step-by-step. Like others said, it does take up a lot of room in the junction box, but with some creative wire cramming everything ended up fitting right back in. I would definitely purchase this switch again!

Installation is fairly easy, though it is pretty big and pushing it and all of the wires back into a double gang switch box was a challenge. Programming on the other hand is not easy. The instructions are worthless (and too small to read anyway). After struggling with the instructions for an hour or so. I gave up in frustration. Then, I discovered a five part You Tube video that made programming pretty straight forward. Days get pretty short fast up here near the 49th parallel and the gadget seems to be tracking the changing dawn - dusk time pretty well. Once it is installed it looks good also. There are two faces, white and beige so you can match your switch plates.

The.timer works well. HOWEVER, the instuctions and installations are not for the weekend FYI guy. I was not able to determine if the timer was set for the line or load side if the circuit. Two sets of instructions are provided for multiple ways the three way switch can go gave me a bit of caution. The electrician was called, seeing I didn't want to purchase a second switch if the line and load were reversed. It is an easy for a single pole switch.

This switch was easy to install and pretty easy to program. I set it to turn my outdoor garage/driveway lights on at dusk, then turn off at a certain time. No photocell necessary, just enter your location and it calculates sunset throughout the year.

Relatively easy to install and program and reprogram if need to be. The backlight makes it easier to see. It has multiple programs settings for different days of the week. Once programmed to your needs you don't have to worry about turning your security lights on/off. It works with LED, fluorescent and/or Incandescent bulbs as well with a dusk to dawn motion sensor light fixture.

I purchased two of these to control dusk-to-dawn security lighting on the front and the back of our house. The instructions were easy to follow and the installation was straight forward. The timers have been in service for one month, with no issues.

I looked at all the units available on HD site before buying. Wondered why this unit, a major brand name, was less expensive than other brands? All the features seemed. So I decided to give this GE unit a try. DIY installation...very straight forward...good instructions and fit easily in wall electrical box with other wires and switches in same group. User has to go thru initializing the unit and setup program on and off times, but again, follow well written instruction and it is easy to program.

I purchased three of these for my home in Hawaii and just installed them. The installation, time/date setup and programming seemed pretty simple and straight forward. The only challenge I had was that the setup instructions did not describe how to switch between the Automatic and Manual modes as I did not want to always have the units running on Automatic - so that is definitely lacking in the instructions. (If you are looking to turn the programs off but not delete them then you will need to press the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons at the same time and release them when the screen changes from AUTO to MAN. This will keep the programs but the timer will not follow them.) In Manual mode just push the plate to toggle between On and Off. Note: I added a decal on my face-plate describing how to change from AUTO to MAN (see picture). Also some reviewers have had concern on the depth of the unit. It requires exactly 1.5 inches deep inside the box, not including the portion that projects into the room; more room is needed for the wiring connections. The LCD is lit with a lime green light - not blue as I've seen in some advertisements. Finally, it is quite dim and certainly does not light up the room at night or produce any kind of glare in a dark room.

This switch was somewhat easy to install. The biggest difficulty was it was in a box with 4 other switches so getting all that wiring straight and having to pull all 4 switches out was time consuming but it all worked out. The switch itself is easy to use and works just as the description says. You can set it to come on and go off at specific times, random, or on at dusk and off at dawn. You set your zone and enter a rough idea of sunset to start the dusk to dawn part. I would recommend this and might even purchase another one..

I purchased this G.E. timer switch to control 2 dual-brite lanterns at front entry because their photoelectric sensors had failed. I switched their little control switches to constant and now they are controlled by this timer.It's easy to install and It works great and also with the led bulbs I now use. Has been in for 3 months now. You program it to your time zone. I saw other makes on line that cost twice as much and thought that was too much for what I wanted. Then I saw this timer with good reviews and tried it. Glad I did.

I purchased 3 of these. Two of them I use to power on and off my external wall outlets for holiday lighting. The third is used for my front porch lighting. During the holidays I will set the external outlet timers to turn on at dusk and shut off at midnight. During this same time, I set my front porch light timer to turn on at midnight and shut off at dawn. There are a number of ways to program these to fit your needs. Instructions are very easy to read and follow. I am a DIYer and electrical is not my strong suit. If I figured it out, anyone can. You simply can't beat the price when compared to similar timer switches.

Other than the body of the switch being large and a little difficult to push into my three unit switch box because of the extra wiring in it, installation was pretty straight forward. The package comes with everything you will need to install the switch. This is the second one I have installed and if you follow the instructions, which can be a little confusing if your a real novice, they work perfectly. I like the idea that you have many different choices in the setup, like random times on/off, Dawn/Dusk and it changes with Daylight Savings.

I installed 2 of these about 1 year ago and I am still extremely satisfied. Spend the extra money and get this version since it does not require a battery and it is back-lit. The timer works exceptionally well and is very intelligent. The dusk to dawn feature is really cool. You program the zone in the US that you live in and it knows exactly when dusk and dawn is without needed a sensor. Because of this feature you don't even need to enter a program unless you want to. If you want to do traditional programming of on/off events you can do that too. I would highly recommend this GE SunSmart Digital Timer.

Overall a very good unit. At first I was a bit skeptical of a "smart" unit but after some thought, I realized with four of these units installed, having the unit adjust itself for the changes of sun up and sun down and daylight savings time it saves quite a bit of fussing over the course of the year. Performance is OK -- the timers lose a bit of time over the course of the year. The programming was not intuitive but the instructions, if followed carefully, will lead to successful programming. Installation was a bit tricky in a few places, as the unit is deep and takes up a lot of room in the electrical box. In one location it was very difficult to get the wires seated so that I could properly close up the 2-gang box with good alignment of the timer and the adjacent indoor light switch.

Bought one to light up front porch since the street light is very far away. This timer worked great the first month. After the first month, either it forgets to turn on or turn off. I can still manually turn it on or off. I reconnected the wires and reset the program several times and no help. After the third month I trashed it and replaced with Defiant 32648. No problem with Defiant the last three months.

HAVE PURCHASED FOUR IN THE PAST YEAR FROM HOME DEPOT. WILL BUY FOUR MORE VERY SOON. . . . .FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE. HOME DEPOT IS UP TO THEIR OLD TRICKS. WHEN YOU FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE THEY QUIT STOCKING IT ! !

It looks smart and easy to program, but too large to fit in the enclosure.

Screen very small hard to see to program

Works great..but...Main issue........Side of switch needs to be trimmed 1/4 inch in order to fit in double box with regular switch. Needed a little better instructions for DIY Dummies.

The “dusk” and “dawn” setting options combined with this unit’s ability to automatically adjust for seasonal sunset/ sunrise time changes is fantastic!

Works great!....Using it "on" at sunset and "off" at 11:00 pm...easy to program, just be quick or it will reset and you have to start over.
