Easy hook up
Got this for fifth wheel RV that has an electric tankless hot water heater that doesn’t appear to be working and I don’t have time to troubleshoot. This thing was easy to connect to my shower and heats up the water just fine. Won’t be taking any long steamy showers but as long as you do navy showers the you’ll have just enough hot water to get you rinsed off. Overall happy with the product but will be looking for a more permanent solution

I don't recommend the 1.5gal. unit for anything.
With temperature dial set at ~50% you will get practically hot water ~115deg.F in the beginning of the cycle. The water temperature needs to drop to 69deg.F for the heater to turn on again. This means the temperature deadband is ~50deg.F. The standby water temperature in the tank can range anywhere between 69 to 115degF.

I just wish the outlets coming out of the hot water heater were able to connect straight to the faucet lines. I had to use a lot of tape and pipe thread sealant to stop it from leaking.

Great little heater! My wife's efficent front load washer doesn't even use enough water flow to activate my Gas Instant Hot Water Heater. So I installed this right next to her washer. Now she gets hot water as soon as she turns her washer on. Power cord was just a hair short from reaching the plug though. We are both happy now!

I was counting on this unit coming with all the parts needed to get it going, but it didn't even have a plug on the end of the cord, just bare wires. Highly frustrating since i live 40 miles to the nearest Home Depot. We had to make 3 special trips into town to get the job done. Another frustration was the fittings needed a different size pipe that what the info said we'd need. Ecosmart sure didn't make this easy for us. Now that it is in, it works great. We need to buy flow reducers for the faucet though, because the hot water runs out fast. The unit is larger than expected, and didn't fit in the sink cabinet. We had to cut a hole in the cabinet to run the pipes and sat the unit between the sink and toilet. This was an acceptable temporary solution during the remodel.

We installed this in our small 10-person manufacturing facility to provide hot water to two sinks for hand-washing. It works wonderful and far more efficiently than our old on-demand propane water heater. It was easy to install and took less than 3 hours total.

easy install (120V unit, plugs into 120V AC wall outlet ... real hard, et?). Thermal Protect output needed to go to a P-trap with waterless trap seal or could use a pail instead, I suppose (check with your City Permit Dept.). Been using this item 1 month and it works well. Max temp for this unit is 140 F. Most dishwashers are spec'ed for 120 F min to 150 F max (check the manufacturer's specs). Small enough to fit into the sink cabinet or use the included wall hanger.

The plumber put it in since he was around putting my sink in but it looked easy to install. Just bought for my detached garage sink and it is perfect. Water is very hot and the capacity is perfect, even a little big.

I have used this unit for 4 weeks. I installed it as supplemental water heater as our whole house tankless system took forever to supply hot water to the kitchen as it was at the end of the line. It gives sufficient instant hot water for all normal kitchen uses as well as the dishwasher that I connected as well. The installation was pretty straight forward if you are handy with tools. You need to purchase 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch female to female connectors to connect to the unit as well as other supply lines/nipples. The overflow/relief valve connection can be a challenge if your sink (like mine) is not on an outside wall. I used a dishwasher drain extension pipe with a tee and a hose connection. Remember these units need to be disconnected and flushed out about once every 12 to 18 months, so don't make things too permanent and flexible lines are the way to go. Overall, a great unit and exceeds my expectations. Would highly recommend.

This heater has been installed for about 6 days now. I used it as a hot water source in a portable double sink on wheels that I recently built. The unit looks well protected from water splashes and it is surprisingly light weight. It fits neatly on the side wall inside the cabinet and is not too tall. It heats water to a high temperature (3/4 max. setting) in about 8 minutes from when it's first turned on. It is also very quiet. The inlet and outlet are 1/2" NPT and you need to adapt to a 1/2 FIP if you plan to use the braided hoses to connect to the faucet. Although it has not been in use for long, so far I am very happy with it and would recommend it to others.

      Great single sink heater
Works exactly as advertised. Plenty of very hot water for a single garage sink. Good build quality. Only minor issue I experienced was getting the pressure relief valve on top to seal properly where it threads in to the unit. The NPT threads required lots of Teflon tape and it was necessary to tighten the valve so tight I though it might damage the heater. But, it did eventually seal and no damage to the heater (hope I don't ever need to remove it though).

Works great, installing hoses is a pain
I bought this unit after being disappointed with an under-sink recirculation pump that failed. After looking at the various options and reviews, I decided to buy this unit. Keep in mind it is not a small unit, yet will easily fit under the sink. I was pleased with the size when I opened the box. I had read about how it was hard to hook up the fittings, so I was not surprised when I ran into problems, too. Simply put, there is no reason why you can't screw a simple water hose onto the water heater's top fittings. You cannot. The water heater fittings need to be engineered so there is a simple pipe coming out the top (rather than restricted openings with a rubber gasket on top of the opening) so you can screw on a water hose in 10 seconds and be done with it. I had to go to Home Depot and buy $24 worth of brass fittings to get my hoses attached. See photo. If you use these type of fittings, make sure you wrap six to eight wraps of teflon tape to the top of the water heater's pipes before screwing on the brass adapters. Four wraps of teflon tape will not be enough to prevent water leaks (ask me how I know). As far as the temp/pressure relief valve, I ran a PVC pipe to the other side of the sink compartment and down into a plastic bucket. There is a minimal chance this vale will ever release pressure, and if it does, it should release a small amount of water until the pressure goes back down, and then the valve will seal up again. Hence, a small bucket should be plenty good. I considered plumbing it into my sink drain line, but there were no adapters to do that, so I gave up. The lights are simple and work great: green for power and red when heating water. It heats up water in roughly five minutes and the water temp can be easily set (we set it to about 2 o'clock). Within five to 10 seconds we are getting hot water out of the kitchen sink. My wife loves it! As a final note, this unit really needs a timer, and I would suggest you buy one for it. There is no need to heat water 24 hours a day. A mechanical or digital timer will solve this problem, and I will be buying one shortly and hooking it up to my unit.

Overall this seems to be a good investment in a Small but efficient Water heater.
6 GAL. 120-VOLT ELECTRIC MINI TANK POINT OF USE WATER HEATER The mounting of this water heater was no easy job, since we needed to plumb it into the 2 sinks that this water heater was intended for. that being said, the instructions were clear and other than needing additional copper tubing the job went well. The fact that this is a 120 Volt electrical system made it easy to wire it into our existing electrical socket. and not adding additional cost to the job if we had used a 220 volt heater. The Quality of the unit is yet to be seen? We only hope that it will last several (10)years, of course the problem is not so much the Water heater but the Water we get from the Water district? Lots of Minerals in the water causes corrosion and deposits in the heater itself. For our purposes(heating water for our Deep sink)it appears to do fine. We don't need Scalding hot water just hot enough to degrease the equipment we are cleaning. The unit mounted well onto the wall above the sink. and since the sink is so close to the Water heater is doesn’t take long for the water to heat up. Overall this seems to be a good investment in a Small but efficient Water heater.

      WELL BUILT ATTRACTIVE UNIT
This 4 Gal. 120-Volt Electric Mini Tank Point of Use Water Heater is larger than I expected. It will fit under my kitchen sink but will pretty much take up one whole side. That's ok with me. I am looking forward to the “instant” hot water. Our hot water heater is downstairs and about 25 ft away from my kitchen sink so it takes a long running time for hot water to finally emerge. We have our own well so water conservation is not an issue but the time saving will be a big plus. In order for us to install this unit it will be more complicated, we will need to wire in an outlet box under the sink. My husband knows how to do that. This unit is well built and attractive and can be either set on a counter or mounted on the wall.

      Nice Design, Well Made
We installed this water heater in our travel trailer to replace the propane water heater. The price of an electric unit is much cheaper than the original unit. It only took some slight modifications to the cabinets and plumbing to install this unit. As you can see the unit fits right under the sink. The water heater quickly heats the 4-gallon capacity and with a moderate flow, continues to deliver hot water during use. The water heater draws 1440 watts according to the manual. So a 1500 watt inverter will allow you to use 12v to power the unit.

      EcoSmart Equals Instant Hot Water!
We are no longer wasting water waiting for hot water thanks to the EcoSmart 6 gallon mini point of use hot water heater. We now have plenty of hot water instantly available for all of our cooking and kitchen needs. This unit comes in a 220 volt version and a 110 volt version. We selected the 110 volt unit for ease of installation; we had 110 volt power already available under the sink. We went with the “in line" hook up, simply hooking the hot water supply valve to the EcoSmart unit with a ½” stainless mesh supply hose. We then used a ½” stainless hose to go from the EcoSmart unit to the faucet. The 6 gallon unit has ¾” pipe fittings so we had to reduce them to ½”. The total hook up took about 3 hours including procuring all the needed hose and fittings. I have provided photos. It should be noted this unit is available in smaller sizes that come with ½” pipe fittings. It should also be noted that although the largest size 6 gallon unit did fit under our sink it was a tight fit as can be viewed in the photos. The 6 gallon size would also be an excellent choice for RV use or a shower.

      Great Product. Hot water fast!
Just installed this unit as an in line booster for my dishwasher. This is the only size tank i could find that fit in the kitchen cabinet, under the sink and next to the P-Trap. I had issues with clean dishes before, and it was due to the water in the pipe being fed into the dishwasher not being hot enough. By the time hot eater reached the dishwasher, the machine was already in the 2nd or last cycle. Now my dishes are much cleaner, and all three wash cycles seem to have hot water. Unit was easy to install, plugged right into the outlet under the sink, and the plumbing connections were simple with flex hoses.

We tried several different tanks for a DYI grooming trailer and this tank worked. I wouldn't say it puts out hot water but it does come out warm enough to wash my dogs comfortably. I like that the recovery time is 15 minutes that way I don't have to wait long. Hopefully, the tank will last a couple of years.
