I've had my Echo SRM-225U for two years and I'm very happy with it. It's easy to start, idles nicely and cuts well. It's light weight and between the strap and handlebar setup, it saves my hands a lot of vibration and holding my wrist in one spot. I use it daily to keep over 5 acres manicured.

Great Homeowner Brush Cutter
Afgter looking at several brush cutter from several different companies I finally decided on the Echo SRM225-U. The unit works excellent and easily address the brush I have on my property. Only drawback is the supplied harness that does not provide enough adjustment for a 6'4" man. I would have given it a 5-Star if it wasn't for the very sorry on-line ordering process through Echo. The dealer didn't even know the process existed and wasn't aware an order came through. It finally got straighed out once they called their distributer and found out how it worked. I will give the dealer in Hot Springs, AR 5-Star Rating for the help they offered and preparing my tool.

Echo Brushcutter
I am a 63 year old woman - 5 ft- and I use this for hiking trail maintenance. It starts right up in all conditions. It's very lightweight- I once carried it 2 miles to my car from our trail work site. Buy this and you will not be disappointed

This was one of the most disappointing purchases we have ever made. The instructions were not product specific, they were intended for use with six different models so certain parts may not apply to your machine but they are not referenced by model number. This was very confusing when trying to assemble it. The actual process of starting the trimmer was very awkward. Hold down the throttle on the handle (it does not lock) and pull starter cable all while bracing the trimmer shaft with your knee. It is a poor design. You really need 3 hands to accomplish this. After all of that, it would not start! After 2 days of this, it was returned. We will go back to a Stihl product, better design and better reliability.

Excellent Value
Bought this equipment because of the warranty and reputation for quality. Got a brush cutting blade to clear out some areas of my lot. Has done very well at clearing brush and small saplings.

This handles everything I have thrown at it.
I bought this a month ago to clear brush on a large, very steep hill. I previously had a cheaper, curved shaft trimmer that I had put a blade on. Although it worked somewhat, it eventually broke the flexible shaft. If you are going to use a cutting blade, you need a straight shaft like my new Echo. The blade easily goes thru 2 inch sumac, and other small trees, as well as doing a fine job on weeds.

Good machine but needs a bit of improvement
I bought the machine to use for extensive electric fence weed control. Works great except the strap and attaching points need to be improved. My previous brush cutter is a Husqvarna 225R. It too has the wide handle bar style handles. and it too came with a harness to support the brushcutter. The Echo SRM-225U needs a better body harness to carry the weight better, and it needs a more adjustable attaching point similar to the HusqVarna to enable different operators the ability to adjust it to their preferences.
I also think the carburetor could be better protected though this has not been an issue yet. Other than those two points, of which I think is important, Ithink the Echo is
outstanding.

Quick review
I purchased this as a gift and it has not been put to use just yet, but I will say Home Depot promptly delivered the order in good time. I will update this when the machine is put to use.

This is a great product and performed as advertised.
I have purchased Echo products in the past and have always been satisfied with the quality and ease of use. That is a factor in choosing another Echo product.

Quality, at a price
Have used Echo products for years and have found them durable. Hopefully this will prove to be the same. Although higher cost than many other brands, seems well built and operates without problem. Some assembly required, but nothing major. Some of the factory installed bolt in the U-handle were required to be loosened for alignment(per instructions). Some were seriously over tightened and were difficult to loosen. All necessary assembly tools are provided, but the small Torx wrench that was provided broke due to the tension needed to loosen. Fortunately I have better wrench. This does include the brush blade which many dealers apparently remove then sell it separately. It is a $20 item. The included harness is rather primitive. For any serious use, I would suggest purchasing a more comfortable and substantial harness.

The feel and sense of quality
The only area that is a little weak is the pictures/description that goes with the assembly. The total assembly process took around an hour. Overall weight is not light but balance is good.

Nice Brush Cutter
Very pleased with the quality/performance of the product so far. Light weight and nicely balanced, fit and finish is very good. Cuts tough brush as expected. Only gripe is that the harness that was provided, while working as expected, could be a bit better.

So far, so good.
I recently ordered the Echo 17 in. 21.2 cc gas, brush cutter and it arrived fast. All the parts were there, including goggles (which were a nice touch)!
I have used it three times since I got it and so far is working fine. It took some time to get used to the handlebar but other than that, I have no complaints.
I would say that putting it together wasn't as easy as I expected. The accompanying manual it's not that easy to understand so I needed help from a friend who knows more about machines than I do.
Hopefully, this brush cutter will last more than two years, which is the time my old one lasted.

great tool for the money
i just got mine today and tried both typs of heads both work great and its light enough that it can be used for hours. If it lasts like my other echo equipment then there wont be anything to complain about. The only complaint i have is the hom depot dosnt carry replacement blades.
Mabey they will stock them in the future..

Not what I expected
I purchased the brush cutters expecting a metal blade to come with it as advertised. It didn't. I could not purchase a blade my nearest HD because they don't carry any. So it was well over a month before I could even use the item. The power is average and it does my small jobs.

Excellent brush cutter
Well worth paying a little extra to get a solid, well made cutter. I use to have a John Deere that never performed well.
It comes with a brush blade that can handle more than advertised. I bought a extra blade (beaver blade) for bigger jobs and the engine size has no problem cutting through small saplings (2").
So far so good. Can get a lot done in a short time.
