Perfect for space efficiency!
What an innovative way to save space! It allowed us to expand our shower area without intruding into our small toilet area! The swing-open door and a shower curtain were definitely NOT an option! Thank-you for solving our space issue! Love this door, even a year later!

    Unbelievably perfect!
We have phone-booth sized shower in our older home and my contractor & local box store said there was no door available for it's small size and I proved him wrong by finding this perfect door online. The installer was impressed at its ease of installation and the quality. We love the door and how it opens. Takes no floor space in our small bathroom!!! Worth every penny!

    Excellent shower door.
I have bought three doors over the years and the DreamLine Butterfly proved to be the best. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The door does what it's supposed to do ...looks nice while keeping the water in the shower.

      Quality Materials
I installed this in a 36" square shower. I had the bathroom renovated by a contractor and was going to let him do it, but when he saw the time it would take to put it together (he thought it was an assembled unit) he gave me a credit to do it myself. I installed one similar to it about fifteen years ago. This is not a project for the faint of heart and unless you at least have intermediate skills, I would let someone else assemble and install it. In fact, the directions state that it should only be installed by experienced professionals. It can be installed left hand or right and it comes set up for left opening with instructions matching that. I needed a right hand opening and that can make for some confusion. I scanned the directions and flipped them on the computer so that the pictures matched my installation. This had the added benefit of making the diagrams a little darker since they are very light and hard to see in the originals. You need quite a bit of room to assemble this, so I used our king size bed. (I had Mommy's permission) The hardware has some plastic padding on the back so that there is not metal directly on glass. It takes a careful touch to line these up so that they fit flat and tight. If you are doing a right-hander, pay close attention to the guide rail (horizontal element) orientation. I barreled ahead and had to drill some extra holes and fill the old ones. No big deal, they are on the inside and hardly visible. The actual installation will require a second person to help. Put a clamp on the glass at the top guide rail to keep it from flopping open while you are handling it. I installed it in a tiled shower and on the side that had no wood behind it I had to use longer screws and bigger anchors than what are supplied. The other side went into wood and I just used the supplied screws without anchors. Incidentally, you will need tile bits to drill tile. Luckily, I have some good old ones because they don't make 'em like that anymore. The unit is sealed from the outside, so I put a dab of caulk in each hole just before I put the unit in. My opening was pretty square and the door needed no adjustments to operate nicely. Figure on most of a day to install this. The pros probably do it in a couple of hours. Be aware that the step through is only about 67". I am 6'3", so I have to duck. We have used it a few times and it seems to work well. The instructions are this thing's biggest drawback. I assume that is because people who do it for a living are supposed to be reading them. The quality of materials is first class through and through.

Thank you for your purchase of the DreamLine Butterfly and for your review. DreamLine does recommend that the door be installed by a professional due to the fragile nature of the product. Fantastic Design.
I love this new shower door. We have a very small bathroom and the old shower door made it difficult to enter and exit the shower, in addition to accumulating mold in the crevices. This door is beautiful, practical, and easy to clean.

Great solution for a tight space
Nice shower door. Our old shower door opened out and hit the toilet. This one works great and the quality is good. 34" is a minimum dimension and it will not fit a smaller opening without some work. We were able to trim the jamb on one side to get the extra 1/4" needed to fit. Not an easy install, so use a pro if you do not have above average DIY skills.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, The 34" Butterfly unit is designed for a 34" to 35 1/2" opening. Any alteration to the unit to fit a smaller opening may compromise the fit and integrity of the door and will void the warranty as it is not made to be smaller than the required opening The installation of our products is encouraged to be performed by a professional. We also recommend that our products be installed while having the assistance of another person, due to the size, weight and fragile nature of the product Dreamline’s expert support department is available to answer any questions the consumer may have prior to their purchase so your will be able to make a more informed decision. Be Careful
Directions were useless. Pictures do not help and many steps are skipped in the directions. Overall glass width of both doors is too small to close and seal out water. I had to take apart and cut the frame. No where in the directions are there any really good troubleshooting tips. I called for help and the only help they know of is "to adjust the rollers". Rollers adjust maybe a 1/32". Product is installed and and is nice, now>

      Went together asI had hoped
The door was easy to assemble and had all the parts! I am not sure how it can be called "frameless", as it has a frame.Product looks great and hopefully last a long time.

1 No installation instruction mention of the vinyl gaskets between metal hardware and glass door. These need to be held in place for assembly. Since they are clear they could easily be lost, ignored and result in glass failure. 2. I had to buy an easy-out ($20) to remove 3 of the 8 ST4.2x40 screws that ate-out the philips head before the screws bottomed out. I lubricated the screws before attaching guide rails to profile. Still the screws were of too poor quality to self tap into the extrusion. 3. Illustrations were of good drawing quality, but too faint. Dreamline really must use a heavier line weight if they are going to reduce drawings for customer illustration. 4. Slolppy installation verbage. Brochure cautioned: "Mind the position of the middle hinges on the glass." It would have been far less useless to say something like: The pivot (pin) part of both metal hinges must be on the outside part of the shower doors." 5. I wish the installation instructions had suggested how tight to torque the screws holding metal parts around glass. 6. Re item 15, there were no pre-drilled holes in the Wall Profile.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, Thank you for your review, we appreciate the feedback. On page# 13 figure# 20 step#17 it specifically shows the installation of the Anti water strip part# 15 to the area between the glass doors. When using a self-tapping screw it is better to start off at a lower speed and increase speed slowly. With any self-tapping screw if you go full speed from the start you are likely to burn out the tip and it will not cut into the metal as needed, much like burning out a drill bit. Updates and revisions for our product line and manuals are first and foremost so our customers are completely satisfied. Seems great
It was a 2-person install. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it seems like a great product. It was the only thing that worked in our small guest 3/4 bath. If you feel compelled to seal all the seams with caulk after the install you will be very busy. I haven't done much caulking before so it's trial by fire. I learned that you need to tape off all your caulk seams if using pure silicone caulk.

        Perfect for small spaces
The perfect shower door for tight spaces. I recommend having the door open from the side your shower head is located so you can adjust the temperature easily before stepping in. This location also makes cleaning easier as you won't be opening the door onto your shower head. Also, our there is some wiggle room on size to go a bit larger than 34" but not smaller. So unless you want to fabricate it down, don't buy if you're space is even a 1/4" shy of 34".

        Great Small Bath Solution
Frame is light but fine. Hardware is solid and should last. Looks good (other finish choices would be nice). Great solution when there is no room to swing a standard shower door. In a 36" shower stall it's easy to get in and out with this in-folding door. Nicely adjustable for out-of-square or out-of-plumb openings. Only 6 feet high so you'll be ducking under the top rail if you're tall. Price seems a little high but this is WAY better than the leaky shower curtain we had.

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We reached out to the MFG with your review and below is their response. "The Butterfly frameless bi-fold door is made with 1/4" clear tempered glass, which is of an appropriate weight for the hardware used in this application. Glass is fragile and by its very nature, delicate. With any questions on installation, technical assistance or measurements, please contact our Support Department at 1-866-731-2244"

        Great Choice!
Love the door, my bathroom floor is dry all the time, and there is not a big shower door taking up space in my small bathroom. A bit pricy, but considering the hassle it has removed from my bathroom, I believe it was a terrific purchase!
