Delivery was several days late and when I received it, it was the wrong product. I received a sensor that was too wide to fit in the compartment of the light fixture. The picture on the website shows the right product, which is very different than what was shipped.

Perfect size to conceal in any outdoor light. Works great.

So far so good, been in use for about a week. I needed a small photo cell to work in a light fixture I modified for a project.

This is a very good photocell sensor, with wrong information and bad instructions. The WRITTEN installation instructions on the carton is not complete.It does not say where the RED wire should be connected. But the picture illustration is correct. The Product Overview on the Home Depot site says it is Heavy duty 500-Watt UL rating, 15-Amp, 120 VAC, which not very correct. 500 watts is 4.2 Amps not 15 amps. The silkscreen info on the product housing is correct, which says 4.2 amps. Overall, the product is good. Carton information should be corrected and re-made. Home Depot Product Overview should be corrected.

Works great, small compact unit easy to install. If you have a need for a photos sensor control in tight spaces this worked well for me. I have installed several of these over the years for all kinds of applications. You cant go wrong .

I had to replace a damaged photocell on a Lithonia Model OLAW23 53K 120 PE BZ area light and this one fit the opening and nested into the wiring compartment without much trouble.

unit worked fine. Wires are to short.

Easy to install and works like I had hoped. The lights now come on and off every day.

"DOA" -- Purchased & Drilled a hole in a new outside wall light -- wired it & tested it -- then installed it -- worked for about an 10 minutes -- Just another Defiant product that failed from the get go!!!! Defiant To Work should be the name on their products -- 3 others products from them were also DOA!!! They had a WOOD Brand sensor behind the Defiant ones there at HD which I Purchased and It seems to work fine so far -- the Wood Brand one that fit the drilled hole!!!!!!!!

I replaced an old control that had started staying on more than off. This one is very sensitive and turns the light on at a perfect time and off at dawn. Small size makes it very easy to install in a light fixture or in a lamp post as I did.

Can install in tight spaces and is hidden. Works great and inexpensive added feature

Put 3 on a Customers Home, had to replace 2 of them less than 2 years.

This unit replaced a unit (from a different manufacturer) that had stopped working during cold weather. This unit is slightly smaller than previous unit. Easy, simple installation. I would rate higher but waiting for it to go through a cold season.

These photo cell switches typically last no more than two years. So we'll have to see how it goes.

Light comes on at dusk and goes off at sunrise. What else is there to say? we will see if the addition of a neutral wire has any affect on bulb longevity in the coming months.

Try to use for string of Christmas lights and didn't switch off. Only stayed on. Switched wires with same results. Waste of money. Should have purchased different product.

I had to replace my existing control unit with this one and it worked well for a year then died. Now I have to replace it. Not sure if that's the normal lifespan or this product just isnt very good.

Holy crap. I think my 9 year old could have soldered some resistors that work.I have returned 3 of 4 of these.going To buy other chi com parts elsewhere

Inexpensive and easy to install (I placed mine in an outdoor 3" lamp post). So far, so good ... goes on at dusk and off at dawn. One hint on install: start by drilling a small pilot hole with a metal drill bit ... and the slowly work your way up to the size of hole you need for the sensor to fit through (I believe 7/16"). Trying to drill an immediate large enough hole can be tough and a pilot hole gives you a better foundation when drilling the full sized hole. Wiring was simple to do.

Works as advertised. I replaced an existing mini-button photo-electric control that I installed on some series wired garage lights. The original was of another brand and lasted 6-8 years. The physical size was important because of the limited space available. The wiring was exact as was the button (photo eye). So far the garage lights go one together at dusk, and when I leave the house in the morning, they are off. You never have to worry about daylight saving time or seasonal daylight changes. The only thing that would be nice is a adjustment for sensitivity, but then the case would probably get larger. Works great as is !

Great idea if the photocell actually worked. I've tried 2 of these and the light will not turn off on either of them. I'm a journeyman electrician that has wired a lot of sensors so I'm thinkin' it's not a problem with the installation. Maybe they have a bad lot of these on the shelf but when you live in a rural area that's 25 miles from the store it kind of hurts the wallet taking them back.

Very disappointed, installed two of them and they are cycling every 20 to 20 seconds. And yes, the are mounted way above the bulb. I live in the sunshine State and even if a small could passes the sun you still can't look at the sun. Minimal shade is provided. Pain in the butt , now I have to dis-assemble and take back. I see in the forum the manufacturer apparently doesn't care as they don't comment on any of the reviews.

While wiring this device today, the white wire completely disconnected from the photocell. :( Planning to return it tomorrow, and hoping for better quality on the next device. The miniature size is perfect for embedding in/behind light fixtures.

The wiring pulls away from the unit with slightest tug.
