A week ago, I had a leak from my kitchen faucet with two handles (hot and cold). I decided to replace my faucet stems. replacement. It was very easy to install and now works flawlessly. It took 10 minutes to install 2 faucet stems. I had to go to 2 different Home Depots because the first one only had 1 in stock. Then I went to another one. Getting the stems from Home Depot took over an hour, but installing them was only 10 minutes. I was impressed by the Home Depot associate in plumbing. I showed her my old one and she knew exactly which stem was the replacement. Then she checked nearby stores while I was there for additional inventory. Getting the stems from Home Depot took over an hour, but installing them was only 10 minutes. The replacement stems looked like good quality stems and the fit was perfect.

As others have said, flipping the stop ring to use for a cold stem makes the stem unusable: not fully open when on, leaky when off. The new stem's stop ring bosses are too big (the stop bosses are too wide, in an angular sense). I was able to use the stop ring from the old stem to make the stem work much better in this application. A little work with a file may help further, but...sheesh! Maybe a bad batch of stems out there?

I'm replacing the Cold 910-900 cartridge on my 87180SS Savannah faucet. This cartridge works when setup for Hot, but when I flip the ring over to use it for Cold, it lets the lever go beyond the Stop point and the water starts dripping out. I have to back it off about 1/3 of the way to stop the drips. Looking at the bottom of the cartridge you can see that it turns beyond the point where the valve is closed, and when the lever is fully open, the valve is not. Everything lines up OK when used for Hot water, but it's misaligned by 1 tooth for Cold. Also, I haven't tried hammering it, but my lever handle doesn't seem to fit over these shaft splines.

They say “hot/cold” but only open and close in one direction so the handle on the right side twists in the opposite direction as the one on the left!

The stem was easy to install. I had to call the manufacturer to find out how to make it work for the cold water. Once I found out how to switch it I was good to go.

It’s exactly what I needed but I can’t believe there weren’t included instructions on how to reverse the turn for a cold water handle. Even the company’s website video for this exact part didn’t show how! Thanks goodness for the QA on the Home Depot website which saved me again. A frustrating process but once I knew what to do, I finally got it installed.

When changing the stem from hot to cold operation, be very careful of the end washer coming out and the ceramic inner parts coming out. The lock washer was also very hard to remove and reinstall. When installing the unit in the faucet, it took a bit of tweaking (tightening) to keep it from dripping water from the faucet. If it starts to leak again, I'll have to return it. A little more detailed instructions from the manufacturer to address these issues and to simplify the process would be helpful. Otherwise good value for the price.
