Flexible, well-made, light and low amperage appliance wire that is good value for money
I restore old chandeliers that my wife finds at yard sales and the older ones often require re-wiring. This spool of 16/2 dual strand wire is perfect for re-wiring chandeliers and lamps and can be used with most low amp 110 volt applications. The brown flexible shielding has ridges molded into one of the two strands which makes it very easy to separate the neutral wire from the hot wire – I use the ridged wire for the neutral line. If you are using it for chandeliers, you can divide the wires with a box cutter and feed them through a ¼” internal diameter tube with a little bit of patience/effort however 16/2 gauge is better suited to the wider 3/8” internal diameter wiring tubes. The multi strand copper wire is flexible which makes it easier to push the wire through chandelier ‘arms’. With a roll length of 250’, this will do a lot of light and lamp re-wires! The brown shielding color works well with darker chandelier chains. The wire is made in China.

SPT2 Lamp Wire
I use a lot of SPT2 lamp wire in my homemade Halloween props. This spool of wire is great because one side has easy to see writing and the other side has a raised edge so you can easily identify the common from the hot side of the cord. I also like that the exterior is PVC not rubber, so rodents are more apt to leave it alone. I use this as speaker wire in my yard for my Christmas and Halloween displays.

Real Copper Wire
This review is for the Cerrowire 250 ft. 16/2 Brown Stranded Copper Lamp Wire Ive done a lot of lamp remodels, but mostly a long time ago. Since then it seems that the wire has gone cheap by most manufacturers. Good thing I came across this maker. Lamp wire the way it should be. Real copper and plenty of it with this spool at 250 feet. Probably last me forever

Heavy Duty Lamp cord
This is outstanding lamp cord for a variety of uses. I use it lots of places around the house including making custom cords for Christmas light displays. The insulation is thick and sturdy and the wire inside the jacket is good. The jacket is marked with ribs on one side if you are wiring something that needs to match the power and neutral wires. This is really important for polarized plugs. Like I said, I use it for a lot more than lamps.

Nice gage, good sheathing
We needed to repair a lamp cord thanks to one of the pets chewing through it. I blame the dog, hubs says it had to be the cat. He also wants to wire some speakers in at his workshop. Cerrowire 16/2 brown stranded copper lamp wire fits the bill for both projects. The sheathing is well made, no scuffs, thin places, or nicks, and copper wire looks good. We are very pleased with the quality!

Very Handy!!
It's always handy to have some of this #16 gauge lamp wire (also called zip cord) close at hand. At #16 size, this wire will carry the horsepower you need to rewire a table lamp cord or an entire ceiling chandelier. Back in the day when I was employed in the alarm industry, we used #16 wire to power low voltage devices like control panels, sirens and lights. It's just a bit too wide to staple with an Arrow T-25 staple.

Good Quality Copper wiring
Cerrowire 250 ft. 16/2 Brown Stranded Copper Lamp Wire This 250 foot roll of pure copper strand wire is the perfect choice to use for replacement of lamp wire, appliance wire, household fans, clocks, extension cords and any electrical item that draws no more than 13 amps of power. This insulated wire is soft, pliable and UL listed for safety. Great DIY choice for those who want to make electrical lamps, light fixtures, 3D printed projects etc.

Very flexible with a thick jacket
Cerrowire has taken a basic product and improved the usability with good features. The thicker insulation jacket protects the twisted copper wire conductors without sacrificing flexibility. The ridges on the neutral side of the jacket are deep enough to make it easy to see and feel the difference between neutral and power sides of the cord. The wire information is finely printed on the smooth power (hot) side of the jacket in contrasting color so it is easy to read. The plastic spool is a bit thin and brittle which could be an issue for some professionals, but that only affects the handling of the wire and not the wire itself.

Great multi-use copper wire
This Cerrowire 250 ft. 16/2 Brown Stranded Copper Lamp Wire is a great copper wire for multiple uses. I use this wire for replacing old scuffed lamp wire as well as other small appliances where the wire may be worn or just need replacing. I also found this wire to be great for media devices, such as high end amplifiers with high grade speakers that require a thicker wire than the regular "speaker wire" sold in stores.

Good, quality lamp cord
I needed about 35' to re-wire a floor lamp that lost a battle with one of my Robot Vacuums (my fault). I found I could buy 50', 100' or 250' and the 250' roll was a little more than twice the price of the 50' spool. As this is not the first re-wiring I've had to do in the last year, so getting the larger spool seemed like the economical thing to do (it's not like it spoils). This is standard 2 core AWG16. Cerrowire is a well know brand. This is a stranded wire, not solid. One edge of the wire is smooth and has printing on it, the other has some corrugations to it, so you can easily tell the hot connection from the neutral. The wire is rated at 300V. It's a nice spool of wire, buying a larger unit is frequently saves money over time.

Basic Brown lamp cord.
This review is for Cerrowire 16/2 Brown Stranded Copper Lamp Wire which came in a two hundred fifty-foot roll. This is a basic two stranded lamp cord that the label states is "suitable for lamps, Chandeliers, clocks, household fans and small appliances." It is a basic two-stranded 16 gage copper wire that is easy to work with and strips well. It does not have a ground wire included.

Great multipurpose wire roll
This is a good roll of general purpose and heavy duty “lamp wire”. The 16g wire is wrapped in a good flexible covering that is rated to 105C and can withstand the heat of lamp enclosures. The stranded wire goes through bends easily. Easy marking to check polarity and work as two wire power. Works with radios or other appliances and seems to be long lasting.

Great product
I got the cerrowire 16 ga.wire because it works for a lot of different projects that you need wire for. 16 gauge works for lamp cord wire, but will also work for speaker wire. As well as a lot of other low power projects. This gauge wire can handle up to 10 A for either 120 V, or 12 V to 36 V car boat marine and other such applications. So I have used wire it like this for a lot of different projects.

Interior / Exterior, a lot more durable than solid core
This wire is perfect for several very different applications around my house. I can use it to replace banged up power cord for lamp or appliance with two prong plug and it's perfect as low voltage power cable for exterior lighting or sprinklers. It is stranded wire and when installed under surface that experiences heavy foot traffic it will have longer longevity than solid core wire. Solid wires tend to stretch and destroy insulation if moved or dislocated by traffic above. Flexible stranded wire is very easy on insulation. In addition stranded wire provides cushion for insulation when hit by shovel. Solid core wire will leave insulation pinched. That will create ground current leak and voltage drop if we talk exterior lighting. Yes stranded wires have more skin effect, but to compensate it they have much bigger cross section for the same gauge. Larger cross section and overall diameter further increase durability if compared with solid wire of the same gauge. Also all strands can't fail at the same time due to corrosion while solid core becomes brittle when corrodes and completely fails if breakage occurred.

Perfect for many of my lamp wiring needs
I really like this wire. It comes in a size roll that is handy for me because I use a lot of wire in my lamp making projects. It has a nice coating on the outside and easy to see markings on one of the sides that I use to distinguish the hot line from the neutral side. The insulation is heavy enough for most of my lamps that are made out out of pipe. That's helpful to me because I like an extra layer of protective insulation. I hope you find this useful.

Love this wire and Ill tell you why. I had been looking for some lamp cord and I found some other stuff that was identical but it was way way too stiff and so I was on the hunt again. Then I found this and its wonderful. Its the same size as what I had before but the flexibility is great. You can see in the pics that I made my own cord and again, the flexibility is wonderful. I like the stranded aspect of it too. Came nicely packaged and ready to go. Cant say enough about this lamp cord, LOL!

This is UL tested and compliant CPT-2 cable. Insulation thickness is 0.045” (1.143 mm), 16 AWG copper stranded wire is comprised of 65 strands, total of 1.31 sq.mm per wire (0.0020305 sq.in). It is nice that the markings on the cable were put only on one wire, so that you can distinguish hot from neutral on longer lengths. Insulation cuts somewhat hard, it is very resilient and not prone to just snap off once you circle it with the wire strippers once. I liked this, and yet it is a little bit difficult to work with for more than a few connections. I am sure it will be a long lasting cable. Splicing it in two is very easy and doesn't go sideways into wire insulation even if you follow it with a knife. This is perfect for lighting projects and can handle 20 amps at 3 ft or 5 amps at 12 ft. It is rated for up to 600V at max 105C (221F) degrees ambient temp. Burning the insulation emits a pungent distinctive signaling odor and creates a crusty hard substance, flame retarding is phenomenal, this practically doesn't burn, just smolders to crisp. Tensile strength was around consistent suspension of 180 lbs at 5 ft, failure point was very gradual and reached 210 lbs at 1.6 min. Product comes in a 250 ft reel, I measured it at 258ft. Wire did not have any defects anywhere in the length, perfect continuity on both wires and matching resistance. It was boxed in very diligently, so online ordering is certainly a good option.

Cerrowire is a top quality provider of wire and other products for everything electric. This is a high quality 2 conductor wire used for replacing cords on damaged lamps and small appliances. By 2 conductor, simply means 2 wires made in one casing and is 16 gauge, hence it's designation as 16/2. It's perfect for repairing cords on products that don't require a ground wire. Also it's a great product for crafters who may specialize in lamp making. It should be noted to crafters particularly, that lamps should be polarized as to accommodate modern LED bulbs (and other products) as most will only work with proper polarity where-as old incandescent bulbs didn't matter. This means using plugs that have a wide blade (common) on one side and a slimmer blade on the other that allows them to only be plugged in one way (photos attached). This cable has it's product identity marked on one side only to aid in proper polarization.

Useful for wiring small AC devices that do not need a ground wire, or long runs of DC current indoors. The roll comes shrink wrapped, and underneath that, clink wrap holds the wire neatly wrapped. The two wires (each 16 AWG) are molded together with a thick layer of insulation and they can be separated from each other as needed, for example where you need to strip the ends to make connections. I use a work knife to separate the end and then pull the two wires apart. I can then strip the insulation as needed as one would with any other wire. See pictures. The copper conductor wires are stranded in order to make the cable very flexible. The printing of the wire size is printed along one of the two wires so one can keep track of polarity if desired, such as when using it for DC. The roll has small holes around the edge through which one can insert the end of the wire to prevent it from unrolling by itself.

Cerrowire 16/2 SPT2 lamp cord was the perfect choice for me as I needed to replace several lamp cords that had fallen victim to our new pet rabbit. I got the large roll as I suspect this will not be the last time, I need to rewire something. This wire is a stranded black insulated wire rated for a max of 300 volts and is SPT2 so its’s got more (half again as much) insulation than most of the clear lamp wires you find. This is an indoor use only cord, cannot be used inside walls and is sometimes called zip cord. As such it can handle 10-13 amps, but I would not push it on the amperage or the length of cord. Most of the inexpensive orange utility cords are 16 gauge and their use are defiantly defined as light duty. The wire is ribbed for negative identification. The 16/2 is a very versatile flexible wire and can be used for multiple purposes other than lamp cords like speaker wires, short run extension cord (in-doors), Christmas lighting (in-doors) and low voltage lights in kitchens cabinets (not in a wall). Recommended.

This roll of lamp wire has proven to be handy man’s dream. In the past when a lamp or other small electrical item needed a new cord, it required a trip to the local hardware store. Now all it takes is a few steps out to the shop and we are back in business. This is not an item that you would use on a product that draws a lot of amps, but is very useful for repair on smaller items.

Heavy duty cord. It is SPT-2 (0.045” thick) so thicker insulation than ‘normal’ lamp cord which is usually SPT-1 (0.03” thick). This makes it ideal for 2 reasons. It is 16 AWG so can carry more amperage and thicker for more durability inside or outside. Be sure you get SPT-2 sockets and plugs or the wire will not fit inside them. The stranded copper wire is rated at 300V 105°C and is excellent when crimped and also soldered well. 16/2 gauge has a rating of 13A at 0-50’ or 10A at 51-150’. Beyond that please look up the charts. I will use this to run power to my outdoor Christmas lights in insulated boxes and it should last a long time. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

This two-wire cord is used to repair power cords for small appliances, making light-duty extension cords or for decorative seasonal lighting, just as long as the lamp cord is used indoors and not run inside a wall. This wire is UL approved for use in hanging fixtures or sconces also and slips thru 3/8” dia. tubing if repairing a floor lamp. I use this lamp cord for a different purpose... running remote speaker wiring from my home stereo system and for mobile PA setups. The Cerrowire lamp cord works great for this application because it is easier to bend around corners, lays smooth when run under a carpet and holds up longer than the clear, plastic jacketed, speaker cable if in direct sunlight.
