The fan seems powerful, but the feature that I really like is the light. It is bright enough to light up the whole shower. I wired the fan and the light separately so they can be used independently, but they can be wired together to both turn on simultaneously if that is how your wiring is already set up. It would have been nice to have a gasket included to seal around the unit where it is placed in the ceiling. I had access to the attic, so I installed the unit from above, but it would have been relatively simple to replace an old unit with this one from below.

First and foremost, this fan is QUIET and the light is BRIGHT! It is sleek, small, unobtrusive and modern. There is no hum or vibration with the fan; just the whoosh of the air being sucked out. . While the light is plenty bright with 800 lumens, it is a cool 3000K white light. I myself would prefer it to be a warmer 2700K light. . Read the installation instructions CAREFULLY: 1) You need to remove the metal plate the fan is mounted on INSIDE the housing to install the housing. Be sure to only unscrew the 3 nuts on the plate and remove the entire unit intact. Do not remove the nuts holding the plastic fan housing, which are located right next to plate nuts. 2) The illustrations seem to indicate you can only install the unit with 1 side against the joist. You can use either side. Note though that the small screw that holds the wiring plate sticks through the housing on that one side, which could make it difficult to reinstall if that side is against the joist. 3) Be sure the housing screws are completely screwed into the joist. If not, they will interfere with the reinstall of the fan unit plate. 4) Be sure the wiring plate is fasten into the clips on the housing that hold it in place on each side of it. The wiring plate should slide into place as long as each side is in the housing clip. If not, it will interfere with the reinstall of the fan unit plate. 5) Note the 'step' on the white LED driver assembly. Again, the fan unit plate can get caught on it during the reinstall. 6) There is a single, one-liner in the instructions: "Both the fan and LED light can be put on one switch." There is no wiring diagram for this. For a novice DIY person, figuring this out could be daunting. Nor does it show you how to wire it to a non-Nutone/Broan switch for separate light and fan control.

I've done a considerable amount of upgrades to my home since it was built four years ago but really never paid any attention to the bath exhaust fan. The fan that this one replaced is a name brand but it is one of the cheaper models. This NuTone 100 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan was a very nice upgrade. The fan is simple but the ease of installation will depend on the home it's going in. I placed it in our master bath on the second floor of our home. The insulation in our attic is 16 inches high so it took some time. This fan requires a 4 inch duct which the old one didn't have. Uncovering the old duct, replacing it, then covering it back up with insulation was the longest step for me. My old fan was 70 CFMs but surprisingly much louder than this one. I've replaced about 80% of the lights in my home with LED lights so this was a welcomed addition. The light from this fan is more than sufficient to shower by so there is no need to turn on the main light with four bulbs. Just to note, it is possible to operate the light and fan separately but that requires additional wiring and a special switch. At any rate I highly recommend this fan and plan to get another one for my kid's bathroom.

I replaced an existing bathroom fan/light assembly with this one. There are no instructions for replacing an existing fixture, only for installing as a new fixture in either new construction or existing construction. Installing in existing construction requires access from above and adjacent to a joist. It uses 4" ducting, so I had to replace my existing 3" duct. It must be installed in a ceiling - wall installation isn't permitted. The LED light is not dimmable. The vents around the sides of the grill allowed rough edges of the drywall cuts to be seen, so I had to remove the grill and clean up the old cuts to conceal the edges. Once installed I was pleased with how bright the light was and how quiet the fan was.

I replaced an exhaust fan in the bathroom which had no light with this model. It really lights up the space and looks really nice. It even adds light to the rest of the bathroom. The whole square around the perimeter lights up. I am so glad I got this!

Purchased three of these fans to install in our new house. Flimsy fan broke on one unit before we even moved into the house. Replacement part costs more money than original unit. Will certainly try to avoid Nutone products in the future.

Very effective exhaust fan

Fan is quiet and easily keeps the bathroom fog free. Easy installation. Light is bright without being blinding. Have had it installed 2 weeks.

Very nice looking. I like the light. Only problem is the sound. Very loud. I don't understand how this product received a 1.5 Sones rating...which is supposed to mean: quiet. This fan is as load as any bathroom exhaust fan I ever heard.

Bright light and powerful quiet fan

Design is great, was used to replace an original builder fan. Light is bright and looks cool, only slight drawback is the fan isn't "whisper" quiet as described, but still acceptable noise level for 100 cfm.

Very east to install

Light relay was bad so only fan works. Called NuTone and they said they stopped making this model in 2013 and the relay was on back order and didn’t know when the part would be in to ship.

The fan was very easy to install and it lights up the bathroom very well.

We recently replaced our old fan & light with this one. Others have notated that problems were found with fit, installation & noise. We encountered no problems with any of that, the unit was not that difficult to install and the noise level is just above a whisper. This is a great unit for the price and it was delivered to my address within 4 days. I recommend this bath fan/light highly

The fan came without the parts bag which should have have a couple of screws. It was easy to install and make electrical connections. Great light and vent.

The fan is relatively quiet, and the light is quite bright. I am sorry the fan center is cheap looking plastic instead of glass. That’s my only negative comment. The fan was easy to install in our old bathroom.
