The build quality is really nice. But the canopy is really too small to provide any sort of shade, if you set it up against a solid wall. It is largely an expensive cosmetic product for patios.

Love my half umbrella. It fits against the wall and gives me shade into the room that normally gets very hot!!!

It exceeds my expectations. More than happy with it. Extremely well made, very attractive, fits a standard "glass slider door" perfectly and couldn't be easier to operate. In fact I bought it as a gift for a friend and think I'll have to get myself one too!

This is a very well-made product, manufacturing details are spot on! The winch is smooth and its easy to crank the umbrella up or down. Just be aware to watch the back arms so they don't get caught in your door frame or sill (that will make you think the mechanism is stuck when its *user error*). Its also easy to pull the entire umbrella forward by the pole and then wind it up. The reason I'm saying this is, I have a lantern on the side of the sliding door so its simple to manipulate around it that way. This is another good reason to get the base that its designed for (instead of another brand). The base color matches the pole and arms, has a very low, smooth profile, and has levelers on the bottom (complete with wrench) which I needed after all, considering my deck is older wood. The pole insert comes out for storage and personally it looks really good for $20 bucks more, considering how many years you have to look at it. Its not going to fade like the plastic models and the exact color match is Rustoleum Dark Taupe if you ever need it in case of scratches or touchup. Its quite breezy on my deck and I watched it closely for a few days, even through some gusty weather there is no tipping or swiveling, it is quite secure. However, when a mid-western storm rolls in, I do wind it down and tie it. Does it work for it intended purpose...yes!!! I have a deck with a six foot sliding door which lets in a great deal of light and heat. I don't want to keep my drapes closed half the day, and its a hassle to open and close them each time I want to go outside on the deck. However, the sun damage on my leather furniture and wool rug was concerning me. This is WHY I bought it and it has completely solved the problem. Added bonus, markedly cooler insider. Measure carefully, the 9 foot is perfect for our 6 foot sliding door. The 7-1/2 is matched better with french doors or a window. The 9 foot is also approximately 5 inches taller, so be aware if you want to match heights on a deck. I am really happy with this product, and customer service from the manufacturer was stellar, hard to find that level of care today. I bought the color Black in Sunbrella, as I have experience with this material. Its bombproof when it comes to fading, bird crap and dirt, can even use bleach, but I haven't had to yet (its worth the upgrade). The manufacturer (Blue Star Group) does have replacement canopies too, just do a web search and you will find them. He also said the Sunbrella canopies can be machine-washed, but double rinse them to get all the detergent out. I hope this helps someone, I was going to get a cheaper model, until I found this brand and its a no-brainer in comparison.

I like this style of umbrella in front of my french doors but it's overpriced. I wish the pole was a few inches taller as well. The "natural" color is actually white, which is what I wanted and ordered based on comments from others.

Love it. Perfect to control sun at south facing sliding door while still allowing me to enjoy my garden.

I have had it open, but not setup yet. But what I did see was a well made product. can't wait to set up for good.

Had to return this...the angle I had to set it up didn't give me shade.

Placed against a wall in a small area of the patio space. The material is of good quality. Umbrella is quite sturdy when used with the accompanying base. It is easy to crank open and closed and has a tie to tie it together when not in use. Ended up returning the 7.5 ft for the 9 ft. The larger one does an excellent job of protecting from the sun. It would also work well to use behind an outdoor sofa without a wall. It's a bit pricey, but very good quality. No assembly needed. Highly recommend.

I purchased 2 of these umbrellas to use at patio doors and they are perfect! I was never able to shade these doors with a regular umbrella but this one does the job.
