They worked well for straight connections (and even on the stairs when we used the stair kit). But for anything with an angle, it requires a lot of custom cutting to make it work.

The pieces are made of a durable hard plastic. I have yet to see any crack. The black matted finish looks great for a dark stained deck. I really enjoy the style it brings to my deck personally. Yet this product does have issues. Every time I look for them I’ve found 2:10 are missing screws all together in the package. The ones that do have screws are still missing one or two. If you watch the screw thread, you will notice the screws are not made straight.

Look great and very easy to install. Made of some sort of plastic. Hope they hold up well.

It help hold rails in place, instead of trying to hold them and screw them at the same time.

Easy and so simple to install, just get each end of your deck railings cut square and they fit perfect between the deck posts. They installed very quick with no surprises. Great Product!!

The DeckoRail Black Rail Connector Bracket added a nice touch to our newly tiled front porch. The brackets are easy to install and are very sturdy. The kit comes with all the screws needed and easy directions.

These worked well for my project. I used them on my stair railing. Some of the other brands don't work for stairs so I was happy to find these. My only complaint is I wish they came in white. I used these anyway and the black is a fine contrast against my white railing/balusters and gray composite treads.

Makes for a super easy install of railings, even stair railings. And they don't look out of place. Yes, you need a square drive bit. Set your driver to the lowest torque. Do that, and you'll be fine. All the included screws worked just fine for me with no problems. Make sure to follow the recommended sequence of screw installation and type. Beyond that, these make it so easy. More importantly, the rails felt very secure. I had no problem with the angled stair rails. These worked just as well on the 29 degree stair rail.

This black Rail Connector worked very well to secure the 2x4 rails to the posts using the Deckorail System. The end product was awesome!

Made connecting rails easier than normal. Didn't have to be a perfect cut (like when the post move a bit) and still looks great!

They fit a 2x4 perfect. But the pre-assembled railing I bought that was supposed to go with them did not. I used a small when to fill in. But of using 2x4s this is a great and fast was of setting up a railing system on your deck.

Caution: This product works well with 2x4s and other 1.5" material but it does not fit most DeckoRail wood deck rails even though DeckoRail recommends its use.

These look good when installed but installation takes some care. They are plastic and as such do not necessarily hold a drill bit steady when you are drilling a pilot hole into the upright to attach these brackets to the post. Also, since they are plastic, the instructions to install with dimensions before you install the rails does not work as they deform and you cannot get the 2X4 into the opening. You need the rail installed before you attach them to the post or you will not get the rail in. If they were enclosed on the back so the ends of the U would not come together it would be an easier installation. I devised a way to do it by supporting the horizontal rails to the upright posts in the correct position and then installing the brackets on the posts while they were already on the rails. Yes, I would recommend as I think they look nice but they are not a snap to install.

These brackets were used in conjunction with LIGHTNING RAILS (see separate review) and 4-1/2 ft. x 4 in. x 4 in. Pressure-Treated Wood Double V-Groove Deck Posts (see separate review). The brackets are ideal for rails that are mounted horizontal - ie, parallel to a deck surface. They are a bit less than ideal, but still workable, when used on stair rails. Why? Because the angle of the stair rail placement, sometimes the screws that are supposed to go into the rail missed the rail entirely. The brackets come with screws that have heads already painted black, so they blend in better, however, they screws require a square drive, which I did not have immediate access to. I used standard #8 deck screws - 1 1/4 inch to hold the bracket to the rail, and 2 1/2 inch to hold the bracket to the post. There were a few brackets that I had to cut apart and install in two separate sections - this is NOT a design flaw of the bracket - rather it was because the metal balusters got in the way, due to the length of the rail and where I cut the rail. Even though I had cut a few of the brackets to make them work in my environment, they still performed as they should - holding everything in place in a nice tight fit.

Great accessory for certain types of projects. Pricey, but gets the job done.,

U Shaped Brocket is okay. The two size screws that come with it are cheap garbage. Save time and aggravation by buying decent star-shaped black enamel screws to replace the pathetic flimsy square drive screws included in kit.

These square head screws are junk. Better technology exists. Torx for example.

Some of the screw heads twisted of using a power driver. Two of the brackets split down the center and were unusable. Overall they were a time saver and worked great. It would be nice if they came in a right angle.
