[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this a few weeks ago for the front door and just got around to installing it. Pretty simple installation except I had to open the pre-existing knob whole slightly. Otherwise a simple setup and very sturdy heavy duty knob.

This is a very upscale looking entry door lock. I got this lock set to replace an existing lock. The old lock was a key in knob type. There was no dead bolt. Due to the lack of a dead bolt I had to drill the 2 1/8" hole for the new dead bolt. Other than drilling the hole the installation went very quickly. In fact it was probably the easiest to install lock set I have dealt with. The dead bolt portion of the lock is reinforced with steel plates on both sides of the door and the strike plate has very heavy long screws that go all the way through the door casing and into the actual framing. This should make for a very strong dead bolt. My only problem with the system is the instructions. They have lots of pictures and very little text. I would prefer it if they had additional text to make the installation clearer. After I installed the lock I rekeyed it using the "Smartkey"system on this lock. What a change from the old way to rekey. I have all of the equipment to rekey in the traditional manner and it takes me 10-15 minutes to do a rekey. With the Smartkey system it took about a minute!

Our old handle set was going bad, so I decided to change to a new set. Instead of another handleset, I decided to try an all in one lever set. I've heard good things about Baldwin handles and I've seen them at my friend's homes, so I thought I'd give them a try. Description: This is a one piece deadbolt/lever set. The key is a Kwikset type with a Smartkey quick reset tumbler. The finish is a nice antique bronze - it's similar to the old set. The lever is nice and solid. The bolt for the deadbolt is very strong - ANSI Grade 2. It also comes with a piece of hardware to cover the hole from the old handleset - a very nice touch! Installation: This set installs no differently than any other set. Remove the old set first. Then measure the distance from the centers to make sure this set will fit. Install the dead bolt and lever set strikes - I screw them it at this point, but some people leave them loose, so they can do minor adjustments later. Since my front door is a 2 door set, I didn't use the strike plates, but if you have a single door, you'll need to use them. I then installed the round plastic piece from the outside of the door, then put the exterior lock set in place. I placed the deadbolt backing plate from the inside of the door, then I put the two large screws in and tightened them, making sure the lockset was centered and plumb. Next came the interior plate which is held on by four screws (two different lengths). I installed the interior lever and tightened with the allen wrench, which is included. Last came the installation of the hardware to cover the hole from the handleset. 15 minutes is all it takes. Programming the smart key is easy. Put the old key in the lock cylinder. Turn it 1/4 turn to the right and stop there. Put the smart key tool in the slot, then remove the tool. Do not turn the key, just pull it out. Put the new key in and turn it to the left 1/4 turn. Remove the key and reinsert to test the lock. Try the old key to make sure it no longer works. Operation: The new lever set works great. It looks very rich and has a solid feel to it. The lever turns smoothly and the deadbolt fits precisely in the mortise. Overall, I like the new set. It works great and looks great on our door. I highly recommend it!

This is a sharp addition to my entryway. The Baldwin is a sturdy well manufactured deadbolt and lever action door entry lock. The quality feels and looks secure and well made. The installation instructions were easy enough to read and understand. The screws could be a labeled for easier identifying. As with most door locks you have to search for the screw holes once placed in the hole of door. All in all this is a secure and nice lock I'd recommend this to friends and family for their security.

Bottom Line: I would recommend this entrance key set to any of my friends. Good quality item! General: The bronze lever entrance set looks great in real life. It seems to be very well made compare to other sets that I’ve had in the past. Material/Construction: The set seems to be very well made. Although I am no expert at burglaries, the key cylinder seemed pretty secured. The set I replaced seemed very easy to break into compared to this one. All of the components on the set, except for an internal spacer are made out of some kind of metal. No cheap plastic components were used on this set. Functionality: Worked like a charm. The dead bolt has a spring feature at the end that I like a lot. Easiness of installation: The instructions for this product were very straight forward. If you can follow instructions well, it won’t take you more than 45 minutes to install this product. It comes with everything you need.

Love this. In fact, we are going to use the interior version on all interior doors! It is heavy and the matte black is a lovely contrast to the creamy white of our doors. Easy to install. We love it.

This is a top quality, beautiful door knob set! Highly recommend to anyone having it installed by professionals! Only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because I’m a 66 year old female DIY’er & the instructions (including tools needed) were not easy to follow; especially on an antique door. But I was successful & extremely pleased with this gorgeous door set! You won’t be disappointed!

I am more into contemporary style so I like the shape of other sets better, and like black better, but this is great for someone using it on a traditional style exterior door with wants the brushed nickel color.
