surface has unsightly indentation
The main reason I bought this product is the fact that it is made in the USA. The seat was easy to be installed. The seat and installation hardware are well engineered. What bothers me is that the surface of the seat has 4 unsightly indentation. The indentation are located on the opposite site of the 4 "ridges" where the toilet seat sits on the toilet bowl. It looks like the plastic material did not flow correctly and created "craters" on the toilet seat. Although the function of the seat is not compromised in any way. The inspection number is 1574028420.

    Hinge Bemis
I purchased this toilet seat seven months ago for the second time as the first one turned red. This seat's hinge suddenly broke today morning and can't be fixed. And I can't refund this toilet seat.

The slow-close and lift-to-clean feature is what my wife wanted. So far I've purchased 4 or 5 of these Bemis Just-Lift toilet seats. I replaced three of them so far and another recently purchased seat has the same problem and needs to be replaced AGAIN, after just a couple of months! :{ The hinge on the seat breaks due to the cheap plastic construction; it's a dangerous situation... when you go to sit down on it, it shifts because the hinge is broken. The seat is tightened on the toilet as it should be. I just had to order another from Home Depot, they don't sell them in the store anymore. See the indicated breakage area in the attached photo.

My husband got this as a replacement seat on our Kohler toilet. Since it is round it does not fit as good as I would like but it works fine. With 4 grandsons it is nice to have a seat that goes not slowly and does not slam.

        Replacement commode seat
Seat seem somewhat light weight, but works fine. It is more difficult to clean the bottom side of the seat because it is hollow.

Just-Lift Round Closed Front Tiolet Seat in White
I very easily installed the tiolet lid using the plastic nuts that came with it and one quick tightening turn with a wrench holds it firm. I was a bit skeptical about it staying up without holding it but it stays upright when opened. The picture on the box shows the lid coming down slowly so as not to slam and I tested it and it does return to a full closed position without slamming. The box also shows how to raise the entire lid for cleaning underneath and I wanted to see if that really worked as described and pictured. It does and it holds it's position until you lower it back down so that the lid can close. I am a small woman under 120 pounds yet I felt the seat,(when closed) give a little, so I would not suggest anyone much heavier use the toilet when the seat is down for trimming toenails, etc.

        What a let down!
OK, so I'm a gadget freak. I saw this online, and loved the idea of just letting it fall, so I ordered one. It arrived quickly and I had it unpacked and installed in 15 minutes. Yes, it was that easy! I'm partial to wood toilet seats, but this one is all plastic, and other than the lighter weight when you lift it, you'd never know it. There's no discernable 'give' in any part of the lid or ring, and with just a slight push, they both slowly, and independently, lower until fully down and closed. I've had this on the main bathroom toilet for a couple of months, and it has worked perfectly.

        Snap to install, very functional
The JustLift toilet sit really couldn't be easier to install. Simply remove the old seat, put it in place and tighten the nuts. The best part for us is easily its slow close mechanism: simply push the lid and/or seat down and it will gently close on its own....really great for young kids. No banging down a heavy lid and cracking the bumpers. The seat's other main feature is for cleaning. It lifts up easily to clean beneath the hinges (that as you know get caked with grime) while still being bolted on...a feature that isn't possible on standard seats. It's really just great all around.

        Great toilet seat!!!
This was by far a huge improvement over my original toilet seat... It just has so many smart and practical features! Not only does it provide a lot more comfort, but it actually manages to feel bigger while maintaining the same footprint on the toilet bowl. Prior to installing it I was contemplating replacing my toilet entirely with one that has an elongated bowl, so this saved me money. As for the slow close feature and lift capability, that's an excellent feature for little boys that tend to miss the mark as it makes cleaning a breeze and keeps little fingers and other body parts from getting slammed!

Like the "Just Lift" cleaning feature.
The "Just Lift" slow close toilet seat by Bemis is a good option if you're wanting a slow close lid. It has a feature that you just lift it up so you can clean around and under the hinges. Love that! The only issue we did find is, the seat has a narrow profile so the first toilet we put it on did not sit properly. It was an half inch too small and was not stable. We have two different brands of toilets and the other brand toilet already had a different brand name slow close lid on it that we switched out. Worked perfectly on that toilet. The slow close option works great. Just make sure of the measurement of your toilet base.

Good quality, easy to clean, very slow close, easy installaton
The product required a single wrench to tighten the included nuts 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn. Very simple to install. One of their other models had a self torqueing nut that I really liked and wish was included with this model. Being able to lift the unit from the bowl for cleaning is the main purpose of the design and it works well. It would be nice if it lifted a few inches higher for larger hands. When they say slow close they really mean it (30 seconds with a good starting nudge).

An adequate toilet seat but could be more sturdy.
The toilet seat was very simple to install. Once it was installed, I liked the self closing feature to avoid the lid slamming shut. It also has a feature that allows you to lift the entire seat off the bowl to clean underneath it which is nice. The toilet seat itself is fine but the lid seems somewhat flimsy if you sit on it. Overall, the toilet seat has a good appearance and the self closing feature is nice. My only criticism is I feel it could be sturdier.

Nice construction, easier to clean, comfortable, closes quietly
This is a nice toilet seat which I used to replace the much- used downstairs bathroom seat. My least favorite household job is cleaning the toilets because it's hard to get in the cracks and clean around the hardware very well. This makes it much easier to clean; just lift the seat up off the bowl, wipe around the screws, and lower it again. I also like that the seat is a whisper-close seat. You actually have to push down gently to close it. No more slamming toilet seats. Installation was pretty straightforward and easy to do, I had a little bit of a hard time getting up under the side of the toilet the nut to tighten it with my wrench, but kept at it and was able to get it done. It would have been helpful if I had known from the directions which size wrench it needed, but I ended up using an adjustable one. The hubby and 3 kids don't notice much difference between this one and the old seat, but I think the bigger benefit is for me, since I usually clean it. Anything to make my least favorite chore a little easier is a plus for me. Might replace the upstairs bathroom seats as well.

Easier to Clean. Love Soft Close feature!
Toilet Seat was very straightforward to install and looks good. The soft close feature means no more slamming toilet seats! Just Lift feature is very easy to use and is very helpful in maintaining a clean toilet. Design of the seat and lid are lightweight but sturdy. If you are looking for a seat that does not flex under heavy weight or something with more mass- this may not satisfy.

        easy to clean under hinges
This toilet seat has the ability to lift up about an inch and a half so you can clean under the hinges. I attached a picture so you can see that part of the seat. You don't need any tools to install it either. The seat is all plastic construction and is better made than the plastic toilet seat that came with my elongated toilet. It is also a slow close toilet seat, which is great if you have little kids that like to slam the toilet seat down.

        slow Close stopped working
I had bought one and exchanged the 1st one at the store when the slow close stopped working. The slow close on this one had now stopped working. It is less than 6 months old. Very disappointed in this product. Now the seat just slams down

I really like this seat. The soft close is very nice and the ability to lift the seat at the hinges for cleaning the toilet rim is very useful. I installed this seat on a kohler toilet then purchased another for a Glacier Bay toilet. The seat fit well on both toilets.

            Debbiew,
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The slow-close action of the hinge can last up to 30,000 to 50,000 repetitions, if properly cleaned and maintained. However, if particles do accumulate within the hinge, it can prevent the slow-close action. If this occurs, we suggest soaking the hinges in soapy water for about 20 minutes. This should break down the particles and allow the hinge to work properly again. If this does not work Bemis Manufacturing offers a one year manufacturing defect warranty that is handled through the location of purchase. Please return your defective seat to the store for immediate warranty exchange. A receipt is not needed. Place your item in a clear plastic bag. The retail store does not have to handle the toilet seat in any way, other than to dispose of it for you. They will simply view the damage and give you a new warranty seat in exchange.

            crappycrapperlid,

Thank you for your review. We apologize for any inconvenience that this is causing you. With a plastic seat they do tend to be lighter in weight, compared to a molded wood seat. You might be surprised with the durability of the plastic, and we hope that you will become happier with your seat as time goes on. If you would need assistance regarding your seat in the future, please call our Consumer Care Center at 1.888.722.6488. Representatives are available from 8am to 5pm, CST, Monday through Friday, and will be more than happy to assist you.
