[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 80 year old husband sanded , on his knees, our 13 x 18 deck down to bare wood as per directions. Also applied Deck Over as directed and it looked good for 1 year...then got so dirty that we could not wash it off. At 2 yrs the deck started peeling and is very stained. Now at 3 yrs, it is a dirty peeling mess. At our old age we thought the hard work put into this deck would last enough years for our use. WRONG! We are too old to do this again and it is too expensive to hire it out. I read reviews but we thought perhaps correct prep wasn't used and we already bought 5 gal and another gal extra. Money sure wasted but more than that the hard work involved. We have pics showing the prep work and the first glowing year. We are not computer literate so cannot include pics at this time but if need, please advise and we will get them to the proper people.

I put 2 coats of my large deck, The paint peeled and now requires a large expenditure to correct it. Also found the paint very hot to walk on.

I have used Behr products in every room of my house...love them but this product is complete trash...after one summer it has peeled and looks terrible...I bought all the products to prep and apply and still peeled right up after one summer...it’s a huge waste of money and lots of it at that...tried to add photos but wouldn’t let me for some reason

I followed the instructions exactly and even used the brand prep/cleaner. One year later it was peeling up in large sections. The funny part is that it adhered to new wood much better than older wood which is the intended application. As it peels up it actually traps water under it which is much worse than no treatment at all.

This product is not durable or long-lasting. Within months, it will begin to flake, peel, bubble, and separate from your deck. After one winter, if not sooner, you will be regretting your purchase. It does not matter if it is a high traffic area or not. Even areas with little to no traffic will see extensive flaking and bubbling. It also does not matter how much time you spend preparing the deck for application. Even after using Behr's All-In-One Wood Cleaner, scrubbing with a stiff broom, power washing, etc. we are seeing these terrible results. This product was a complete waste of time and money.

It's already peeling and flaking everywhere. I wasted so much time and effort and money trying to get my deck to look good and now it's all for nothing. I definitely would not purchase again.

Bought this Product from Home Depot August of 2018. Tre did our back deck and front porch. Back deck was new wood and we did prepare it prior to painting it with. The front porch was not new wood. As you can see from the pictures the back deck is awful and the front porch isn’t!

I have a very large deck, put the deckOver over beautiful new boards, and within two years boards were rotted, the railings were rotted, bought 10 gallons of this paint.. Currently spent 2 weeks trying to strip the paint from the boards.. this paint is coming up in sheets in certain spots. Customers beware!! Do not put this on your deck it’ll ruin it within a year!!

I bought this about 10 months ago and let's just say I would never use it again. My deck is beginning to peel and now I am going to have to redo the entire front and back deck. Just a waste of money and alot of time!!!

Purchased last year and the photos say it all. Applied as directed 2 coats less than a year and it began to crack and peel and now it looks like this. Purchased product at home depot. 10 gallons wasted not to mention the time and effort to do the work.

If you enjoy sending time on your deck this product is for you. You'll be spending time and money trying to strip it off after it starts peeling after a month. Worst product ever!!!

This will ruin your deck! Once you paint it with this garbage you can’t possibly get it all off to go back to stain. After only about 6 months of Iowa weather it peels off in in strips. I followed all steps in prep before applying this and liked it for about 3 months before everything went bad. Now I am trying to decide how to fix without replacing all of the deck boards.

I used this late last summer on my deck so barely 6 months ago. Today I was peeling the paint off my deck ... Yes peeling almost like masking tape and not actual paint. I was so disappointed In this product. It was not cheap at all. Took me about 4 cans to paint and now it's all gone. What a waste

I was super excited to use this product to refresh my aged deck. Followed the instructions to prepare and applied 2 coats per recommendation. The deck looked good for about 9 months but after a hot Missouri summer and cold winter the product is cracking, pealing, and flaking off. The areas affected the worst are in direct, almost all day sunlight. I wish I would have just stained my deck again instead of using this product.

We used DeckOver (textured) on our older covered front porch 3 years ago (Spring 2016). The paint is holding up well, however there is some discoloration and removing stains/dirt isn't easy. The following year we used it on our exposed back deck (Spring 2017). It is a large deck (750 sqft) and it took us about a month to prep and paint the deck per the instructions. After about a month cracks began to appear. We went over the cracks with paint brushes and reapplied paint to the entire deck with rollers. By the following Spring the deck had cracks all over it again and paint had come up in a couple of spots. Overall it still looked pretty good and we thought the cracking was superficial, so we left it. This Spring (2018) more paint began coming up; upon scraping up loose paint areas we discovered the DeckOver was holding in moisture and rotting the wood below. We are now in the process of trying to get all of the DeckOver paint up, which is an impossible nightmare--it's easy where it's just flaking up, but in the slightly covered areas near the house which aren't as exposed to the weather, it is adhered well to the wood and very difficult to remove. We keep finding more areas where the wood is rotting under the paint. In our experience, DeckOver should not be used for flat surfaces exposed to weather. Had I been reviewing DeckOver for just our covered front porch, I would have given it a 4 star, but after dealing with it on our deck, I wish I could give it negative stars. If you've applied DeckOver to a flat exposed area and have even the smallest cracks going on, I would suggest you peel up some of the paint to make sure your deck isn't rotting underneath.What a huge waste of time and money.

I bought this for an outdoor privacy fence but moved in the meantime. I used it on a masonry wall and steps around the foundation of the new house. I have had previous experience with the durability of deckover and was pleased again with the results. It’s beats the competition hands down. Weathers well on decks and concrete. No comparison to other brands. I also used it on interior basement steps as an anti slip

I bought this paint less than a year ago, I followed the directions, cleaned my hole deck, I also bought the expensive paint rollers to apply the paint. Know I have the worse chipping, having to remove all the paint, and start over. But not with this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have used DeckOver for the past 10+ years. It is easy to apply. Fills cracks and smooths out evenly. We did our last application 3 years ago and will apply this summer. We have had to apply a coat on the floor every 2 years at is in direct sunlight all day. But the spindles and sides look great for 3 years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s been two years since I purchased 3 five gallon pails. Did my daughters deck and my deck. I couldn’t be happier about the finish. Followed the instructions to the tee and the finish came out perfect. Two years and no chips, no peeling....even pressure washed my deck last year and it washed down really well. Would like to see it on sale or at least more frequent rebates as I have another deck to do in the back yard.

I bought this, followed all of the directions, and applied it to my front porch 4 or 5 months ago. It's is already cracking and huge chunks pealing off my front porch. I am trying to sell my house and now I have to deal with the cracked and chipping paint. I will not buy this again.

DeckOver is awesome. We used it on our deck 3 years ago and it's withstanding everything Michigan can offer. Storms, snow and ice - it's still looks awesome. I will certainly use it again, when it's necessary.
