This Snow Blower worked very well during the recent storms.
I was extremely satisfied with how this Snow Blower handled the recent storms we had. It is very easy to use and had no problems with moving the snow even at the end of the driveway where the plows piled up the snow. I would recommend this Ariens Snow Blower.

Great unit
I've had this for a month now and it had tackled all of the snow we have gotten lately. This is a great snow blower an I really like that it has a metal auger and shoot. The distance that this throws snow is crazy. I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a snow blower.

This blower does a great job.
By adjusting the speed, it does a great job even in deep snow. It blows the snow a good distant. It is very easy to start.

Disappointed
I just bought this snow blower about 3 weeks ago and it was great at first. This snowstorm today created an issue. The snow is moist and pretty heavy and I tried to use the blower to remove the snow from my sidewalk and it didn't work because, instead of the blades chopping the snow up, it kept getting clogged up in the blades on the left side which made the blower want to ride up the snow like a ramp. This is because the blades on the right are power blades that are directly connected to the drive shaft but the blades on the left side are just free flowing. This was very disappointing to me because the snow blower cost over $800 and it was classified as a "Heavy Duty" snow blower and it turns out that this blower cannot handle the "Heavy Duty" jobs. I'm sure this blower will do me plenty of justice with the light duty jobs like powder type snow but it definitely should not be classified as "Heavy Duty." Knowing what I know now, I would not have spent over $400-$500 for this blower. Well, hopefully mother nature will only send powder snow from now on, although I have no problem with shoveling the powder. I have issues with my back from my 10 year career in the military, which is why I bought a, so called, "Heavy Duty" snow blower. I feel like I wasn't my time and money on this blower.

Great product at a great price!
After doing extensive research, I bought the Ariens compact fo my first snow blower. The item was delivered to my house completely assembled. The delivering company demonstated how to use the machine and stayed until they were confident that I knew what I was doing. We have had two storms and the Ariens has passed with flying colors. The first storm was about 10 inches of thick snow. The second was only about 6 inches, but it was extremely heavy... more like slush than snow. I was able to clear our 35 yard driveway quickly, throwing the snow between 20 and 40 feet. Now I can't wait for the next snow storm!

This snow thrower is a monster.
This snow thrower is a monster. Gets through everything we've put it through. No problem cleaning up the end of the driveway after the road plows have gone by. We use this to do our entire road and then some. The electric start works well and the pull start is much easier then most chainsaws I have had to pull start. The controls take a little getting used to but once you are used to them they become like second nature

Great snowblower
Very easy to put together. Make sure you do every step. I skipped one and had to start over. Easy to start. The blades have frozen up a couple times when it's not in use, but it's also been -20 most days since we've had it.

Ariens 24 Compact
I recently purchased a house that has a significant grade to the driveway. I was nervous as the winter approached that I'd never be able to get out of my driveway so I purchased the Ariens Compact 24. I also purchased the non-abrasive skid shoes, spare shear pins, and the tire chains (in case the incline was too much). I have had no problems getting out of my driveway all winter! We've had a near record setting year for snow fall where I'm at also. The snow blower has no problem (without the chains) making it up my driveway, it has plenty of power to move 6-7 inches of snow with no effort. The 6 forward speeds make it easy to find the right speed for the conditions. I like that you can adjust the chute deflector on the fly to make sure the snow is going where you want it to. I have not used the electric start feature yet as the engine has started every time with one easy pull. I have no problem clearing 2000 sq ft of driveway with this snow blower in 30 mins or so. My fiance is a smaller than average girl, and has had success with using this as well. She does tend to get warn out faster than me as the snow blower is a little heavy for her to man-handle on the incline. All in all a positive experience, and a great product.

Easy work - no more aching back
After 10 years of holding out, I decided to invest in a snowblower this year. So far I have used it four times and don't know why I waited so long to buy one. It makes easy work of my driveway (100x25) and my back appreciates it. This unit is easy to control and operate - it starts right up even with the manual start. Only took one try to get the hang of it. Compact and light, it stores nicely in my shed. I would highly recommend it.

No Doubt the RIGHT choice!
My one stage thrower needed a auger belt replacement $250 repair. Wanted to move into a 2 Stage and this one is incredible. Easy to maneuver and it throws the snow a long distance. Just cleared 3 inches on a long driveway and a full hockey rink on the and behind my home! Great decision to go Ariens!

So far so good
We received about 5 inches of very wet snow last Saturday, cranked up the Ariens and away we went. (My wife ran it ) Handled the snow quite well except where it got packed down by my car. I backed the car up to clear the driveway. This resulted in the Ariens leaving about a half inch of packed snow on the driveway. I probaly need to adjust the skid plates so it digs a little better. Also it did not throw the snow out as far as I was hoping. Only threw it about 12 feet but once again this was a heavy snow. Supposed to get real snow this weekend. Will see what happens.

Exactly as advertised, and more quiet than I expected it would be.
Delivered to my home ready to go! Started right up. Thank you Home Depot! Just used to clean driveway after first NJ snowstorm. Worked perfectly. Runs fairly quiet....and really throws the snow. Easy to maneuver. Light shines in my eye when tilting unit in tight quarters. Other than that....great machine.

Unbelievable Little Machine
I have had this model snowblower for the last 8 years (Ariens 624). Never given me any trouble. Granted mine doesn't have some of the new features. I was using it for multiple driveways for a couple of seasons, and it just kept going. It even chews through the wet heavy stuff, If it ever dies you better believe I will be getting another one.

Excellent service, and free delivery in just a few days by Home Depot. Very happy with this brand and model. Built very well, and throws the snow far.

    Had to return first one.
The first one we bought had the rubber tear completely off the friction wheel driving the wheels after ~40 feet of use. All I can think of is they had a bad batch of wheels as the associate that checked it back in for us said it was the second one of the same model to be returned that day for the same exact problem. The replacement machine has worked fine for the two hours I've needed it so far. You do need to muscle the machine quite a bit more than I'm used to as our old machine had differential steering. I also miss being able to lock down one of the levers to free a hand for rotating the chute. But, you get what you pay for, right? It does throw the light snow we had about 35'. That gives me confidence that it will be able to handle the heavier snow just fine. Overall, it feels like a decent, low feature model that should last a few seasons at least. I'm just not looking forward to feeding it friction wheels if it was something more than just a bad lot of wheels.

It's good, but may need chains.
This snow blower does a great job removing snow, but the tires on this are way to small. I find myself slipping and sliding all over the place on my concrete driveway. I can say it always starts on the first pull, and only bogs down if you are into heavy wet snow. the LED light in the front is very bright, and the gear selection gives you many different speeds to adjust walking. Was a good purchase, just buy some chains with it.

Don't bother. Not made for normal driveways, only small.
Bought it just before a snowstorm. Got it running and ran great, already to go. Made one pass after the snow ended and it stopped moving on its own. We had 6" of snow. Tried adjusting the drive cable and it hekped a little. After two more passes, nothing. Would go down hill no problem, but would stop when it encounterd resistance. The people at Home Depot in North Conway were great and gave me my money back. I see it's now being discontinued. They should have researched it more befor selling it, but the people at my Home Depot make it worth me going there. They're the best!

    Excellent Snow throw
I purchased the compact 24 920014 from HD in December 2013. Be sure to check the drive cable adjustment section of the manual. My assembled unit had only forward gears even when engaging the reverse lever. Turns out the cable linkage wasn't adjusted properly. I spend a couple hours making adjustments and everything works great. A couple weeks later we got a 10 inch snow. The blower worked flawlessly even on the driveway apron where the plow piled the snow/ ice chunks. Be sure to gear down when taking on heavy or deep snow and pin both drive wheels. I did make some changes for the upcoming winter. I added heated hand grips. Easy to install. I purchased the 15 x 5 tires that are on the 920021 compact 24 new this year to replace the original 13 x 4 tires. I feel this will correct some of the wheel slippage issues. I also went to HD and purchased 3/8 x 3" bar stock and made my own weight kit so the front won't ride up so easy on hard pack snow. Why spend $65+ per each 10 lb set when I made the equivalent of two sets for about $40 including the stainless bolts and the rustoleum engine orange paint. This paint is almost a perfect match to the Ariens color. I am ready for winter. Let the snow fly

      Not impressed
Home Depot ordering and delivery were excellent. Machine did not work properly when delivered, there was a belt slippage and second stage was very slow to engage. Repair was done under warranty, and the problem was resolved. Three months later, auger locked and a second warranty repair was needed. In the second season, the belt slippage issue with the second stage reappeared, and the machine failed to start as a result of a carburator issue. Back to the shop for a third time in less than a year and a half. Machine seems to be overmatched for Minnesota winters, although, to be fair, the last two have been unusually harsh. There seems to be a lot of love for this machine, but I am afraid I am just not feeling it.

      Excellent features and great quality.
This is the first snow blower I have owned. Started on the first pull and ran flawlessly. Easy to control where your throwing the snow. Have used it on very heavy wet snow and light powder. No issues at all. Best of all buying online sent it to the Ariens dealer. They put it together and brought it to the house and gave me personal instructions on all the features and maintenance requirements.

      I LOVE IT!!
This was delivered to my home one day before we received 8" of snow. The machine started at one turn of the key. It's self-propelled so I did very little work. My driveway was cleared in no time.

      Great Machine - But!
The buying experience with Home Depot was good and shipment was quick. Ariens mandates that this be shipped to a Authorized Distributor, if available, to be assembled, checked out and delivered. A local dealer delivered mine and I did get to use it several times. I found, during the first use, that the shift linkage and the "accessory" (auger and impeller) linkage were never adjusted properly and locked down. As a result I had 7 forward speeds and 1 reverse (should be 6 and 2) and the linkage for the auger and impeller loosened during the first use which resulted in the belt slipping, no snow being thrown and the belt getting a slight burn from the slippage. Once the problems were detected, I was able to adjust everything to the "factory specs". The second time I used this machine, after adjusting and locking the drive and accessory linkage, it worked great. I've owned an Ariens in the past and know it is a great machine. I would have been much happier to have this delivered directly to my house so that I could have assembled and adjusted everything and know it was ready to go. Very disappointed with the assembly and delivery process. This is not the fault of Home Depot, the Authorized Dealer obviously did not do his job. I would still highly recommend this machine but found the assembly and delivery process to be lacking.

Best snow blower I ever had!
Purchased this Arien's 24" electric 2 stage snow blower in March. We have tons of snow. Put it together and filled with fuel and topped off the oil and it started on the first pull! The only negative that then turned into a positive is that I didn't receive the wiring for the light on the machine with the initial delivery. I called and asked for it and it was at my house in 3 days. Awesome!. I plugged it in and we are good to go. The blower is rated for 20" of snow height. We have way.....more than that. When I started blowing snow, I was worried that this thing didn't have the guts to do the job. Was I wrong! When it bit into that snow, it just growled and shot the snow like I couldn't believe. It is easy and menuverable, so much so, that my wife can pull start it and she dealt with the 10" we got last weekend with no trouble. I am EXTREMELY PLEASED! I had no trouble assembling the unit. I would buy this blower every day of the week and twice on sunday! This machine gets it done! If you live with snow, buy this blower! Good value, good price, free shipping and Great Customer Service. 10 stars!
