After researching several alternatives, including the OEM parts, I'm delighted to have purchased these AMORskids skid shoes for my 20+ year old Toro 521 snowblower. If I knew of their existence, I would have bought them 20 years ago and saved a LOT of wear & tear on my machine from banging into uneven & cracked sidewalk. I'm a busy person, so unless a product truly deserves a 5+ review, I won't find the time to write. I've attached photos comparing a new skid shoe to one of my old ones. I can't believe snowblower mfrs even sell their products with the wimpy version that they offer. For a few dollars more, the experience is night & day!

    WOW!
It took me mere moments to mount these skidshoes made from 1/4" steel on my Troy-Bilt 24" Two Stage Snowblower using the existing bolts and nuts. All I have to say is...what a shocking difference in quality! If your factory skid shoes have turned to rust and are breaking apart, you WANT these skid shoes on your snowblower. Just remember to order 2, the price shown is for 1. Don't even think about replacing your skid shoes with anything else. You can get OEM Equipment for $13-$20 for the pair, but they will rot in 1-2 years and you will have to buy them again. The original skid shoes on my snowblower were used for 2 winters without trouble and rotted away last winter. If you have any question about my review or the worth of spending the extra money for quality, please let this picture do the talking for you.

Armor Skids: Superior over standard skids.
Just got armor skids and all I can say is WOW. One look is all you need. Bolted on in two minutes and its was ready to go. For the time I wasted on standard skids I can't wait to use these new armor skids.

I bought the ASE2505-A model from the snowblowerskids.com website using their model chart. These are for my Simplicity 1428L snowblower blower. These skids have a higher adjustment than the OEM skids which allows me to use on my gravel driveway. These are heavy duty; they're at least 3/8" thick steel so your snowblower will wear out long before the steel wears away from the skids. Put them on today, set to about 1/2" above the scraper bar. Not a single rock was picked up by the scraper bar and thrown by the augers. The long length of the skids (about 15" or so) allow the machine to slide across the gravel driveway. The idea of skis gliding over snow come to mind. Installation was a breeze; go to the snowblowerskids.com website for installation and adjustment videos. I wish I'd known of these years ago.

Should be original equipment on snow blowers. Wide side forward works perfectly on my gravel driveway, and these glide effortlessly compared to the stock, plastic shoes - machine moves faster forward as a result.

A heavy duty snow thrower shoe upgrade. Its pretty basic and simple to install. The angle helps the snow thrower go up and over uneven areas or cracks on the driveway. Measure the bolt holes center to center and slot spacing on the old skid.

Bought these for my Ariens snowblower with the factory skids. After using the snowblower I was sore all over from fighting the machine - the skids were the problem. I bought these Armorskids, and after using them after the first snowfall, I realized how great the turning is on my Ariens machine - maybe they should put these on their machines straight from the factory. Would recommend these skids, great product.

Exactly as expected. Oversized and made of thicker materials than the oem skids.

These skids should be standard equipment on snow throwers.
The extra length of these skids allow my snow thrower to easily slide over raised portions of my driveway and sidewalk, without the scraper blade hitting the concrete. They are made really well from thick steel, and should last many years. Great product.

              The best skids ever!
Like the title sais. These are hands down the best skids that money can buy. If your looking for replacement skids look nowhere else. It's either these or nothing. Not only do they not wear like the cheap garbage that comes on your snowblower but they also work great over grass and gravel for clearing walkways for your dogs to go to the bathroom. No more kidney shots when the blower stops abruptly on uneven walkways. I have these on my own and have sold these to many of my customers whose snow blowers I've repaired. Trust me. You won't be disappointed.

                Great! Buy 2....
This is amazing. Some pointers...buy 2. Comes 1 in a package. Lock nuts and bolts are required and not provided...usually the ones on your snow blower are shaved down from use so bring them into the store to find something similar at purchase time. With this there is more surface area touching the ground. Be careful when moving the snow blower and don't scrap it along bare concrete or your will have skid marks. These are great. I use it for normal concrete usage. I have a strange sidewalk that has a lot of uneven squares. I also have the city gutter system that is slanted at 45 degrees (or so it seems). just gives your the gliding power to get over the bumps easily without ruining your sides and scrapper.

                Look like a good product
I haven't put them on my machine yet. It looks to be a well made product which is much heavier then the flimsy MTD ones that come standard. I have gone through a set of the factory skids almost every year. These should last at least 3 seasons (I hope).

                Very Heavy Duty
Item is just as described, HEAVY duty. Very easy to install. The shoe extends the entire length of the housing, which will really help to protect the thin sheet metal of the snow blower. Well worth spending the couple of extra dollars to get these than the originals.

I installed these skids on my Troybilt 2410. Had not had a chance to use them yet. They are heavy duty made with thick gauge metal. I only wished it raises my snowblower up to 1 inch but the maximum it raises the snowblower is 3/4 inch.

                  Fantastic Product
Easily installed, really smooths out the use of the Snowblower, no more bucking/ fighting it as the old worn out OEM skids would catch on everything.

Great replacement for original skid shoes
Made out of much more substantial material than the originals. Also, much longer with a more gentle slope on the front and back allowing for the snow thrower to smoothly glide over driveway and sidewalk height variances.

                  Bailed me out
Bob You really bailed me out. I just bought a new Ariens snowblower , used it one hour on my gravel driveway and was awake all night from the pain in my hands. the Ariens is a tremendous machine built like a tank but the built in turning mechanism is just not for gravel drives. Of course being 88 years old is no help. Then I bought you,re heavy duty skids and wow what a difference. The Ariens is great machine but I highly recommend they offer you,re skids as an option. Thanks to you both.

Much better than the stock plastic skids
This was a big improvement over the stock plastic skids that my Craftsman snowblower came with. These work great on our gravel driveway, so good I bought a set for my Father who has an identical snowblower. I would suggest to take the time and level them properly before you tighten them into place. They are a little high on price, but totally worth it.

                    Does the job
Expected custom size for 2-3/4 inch spread between the fastening carriage bolt, received multi-slot for use with number of spread between the fastening bolt. Not a problem, but surprised. Should not affect performance. Unfortunately, warm winter to date means no snow and I cannot determine performance of these skids - expect to be better than OEM because of the length of the skid allows for better weight distribution and smooth movement over pavement.

Just what I was looking for.
The skid shoes are exactly what I was looking for. They are height adjustable and cover most of the bottom of the blower shield. And the best part. There are made of iron. So much better than the plastic that came with the blower.

Installed a pair of these on my Troy-Bilt 2410 and they work great. Carries the snow blower over those bumps in the driveway. Would have been nice if Troy-Bilt included these type of skids as standard equipment.

                    Essential for Gravel Driveway
I have a 42" Craftsman blower on the front of a 24hp garden tractor. (We get 150"+ of snow a year). The factory skids maybe would be fine for a good blacktop driveway. But on my 1/4 mile gravel driveway, they were worthless or worse. These were easy to install, even outside in the blowing snow. Now my snowblower floats over the gravel instead of digging in and being tossed into the woods. This upgrade is essential for anyone trying to blow snow from a gravel driveway. Well worth the price. I'm going to get a set for my JD 1032 as well.
