I purchased this unit last year October 2011. The winter of 2011/2012 was very mild and we didn’t need it, but then came the “derecho” of 2012. With millions homes without power because of the storm, I felt great about the purchase my family made as we are enjoying our standby generator during this outage as our generator kicked in without issue. We would were without power for almost 5 days, but we were nice and cool as our generator ran our complete home, air conditioning and all.
With local regulations, you need to have your unit 5 feet away from your house, so the doors all around isn't a problem. You want 360 degree access.
I highly recommend this unit.

Works ok, but
The generator is basically a Briggs & Stratton unit so it will probably work ok but if I had it do over I would have bought a Generac. The outside case was slightly bent up when I took it out if the box and the access doors are on all sides which means you can not put it up gainst the house like you can with some Generac models. Hopefully, the quality control and design of the case are not indicative of the rest of the unit.

Product was what we wanted and are happy with what we got.
I researched quite a few different models of generators and found that this one offered through Home Depot was the best one for us. I am looking forward to having it connected and prepared for back up as the winter starts in full swing.

Good unit, fair price, documentation needs a little work
Everything worked great - took a while to wire and setup propane - but that was to be expected.
When I ran test, I kept keep a fault code 8; called tech support and they had me set two dip switches that were not set - wish the doci had that bit of info. Outside of that the unit looks great and works great!
Only Gripe is that Home Depot told me that it did NOT come with a pad. I bought a pad and the unit showed up with a pad.
