Lasted a decent amount of time. Tends to leak a bit after a time and then leak worse. For a time it's a decent hose reel. Treat it gently and bring it in every winter. I am partially to blame for it's failure but I'll buy again because I already have those exact holes drilled in my wall.

The Suncast Sidetracker Hose reel is a DISASTER. I mounted the Plastic hose reel by initially installing a piece of plywood to ensure that all surfaces of the hose reel were fully supported. I used through bolts to also ensure that the bolts would not be over torqued to prevent cracking the device. After one year, it broke as others had experienced.-- Stay away!!

Purchased April 11 2018 for $31.77 [USD] (including tax). Began waning first week of October 2019 and was found broken (in the picture) as of October 11 2019 (lasted approximately 1 and a half years since original purchase). Usage was in line with regular watering every one to two weeks (depending on rainfall). I am unable to recommend this Suncast product. I must classify this product as bottom-of-the-line and will replace it with a top-of-the-line product (independent of vendor)

Cant remember exactly when product was purchased but has been no more than 1 year. Noticed a couple months ago that the plastic mount that is attached to the house started to split. Now the mounting bracket where the top screw attaches to the wall is completely severed from the rest of the mounting bracket causing the reel to lean outward at about a 30 degree angle. I have no more than 50ft of hose on the reel so I wasn't overloading its capacity. The hose reel might be getting used weekly during last summer and 0 uses of the winter. Other than the faulty mounting bracket the product worked flawlessly. Wouldn't recommend this product due to the mounting bracket not supporting the reel.

In all I purchased four of this hose reels, everytime, all four broke, the reel snapped off along with the plastic wall mount. All I used was a 75' light weight hose to wash our two cars. Mounted securely to CBS house construction here in S Florida using tapcon screws.

I needed this to replace my old wobbly Suncast Reel. I installed this new one. I haven't used it in 3 months. Within 6 months it broke off the wall. I went out this morning only to find the reel lopsided. I looked at it and found the base cracked at the top. It was mounted properly and not over torqued. It just couldn't take the weight of a 100' hose. Would have probably still be standing with a 50' hose. Florida heat and a southern exposure didn't do this thing any favors..

This hose reel lasted a little over a year before it cracked. Very disappointed. I'm not going to waste my money buying another.

I've had two of the hose reels and have the same problem with both. They leak! Not from where the hose is attached, but from inside where the gasket are located. Doesn't make any difference how I apply the lubricant that's included it leaks. Also the reel which I had a 100' hose came off the wall after a year and I had to use heavier anchor screws and am just using 50' hoses on both. Thinking about replacing them since they leak so much while being used. FYI, waited a couple of summers before making any comments.

We have purchased it and in a few months it broke. It can hold a 50ft hose for sure not 100 ft. I am looking for the manufacture contact information to get reimbursed.

The hose reel was pretty easy to mount, and very easy to wind the hose in very pleased with the results.

As noted from other reviews; think the installation thru while reading the instructions. The affordable price was my primary concern. I’ve found that even with a small diameter hose that if you reel it onto the reel outside of the garden hose connection you will get a bulge. My 100’ hose fit onto the reel w/o straying onto the connector. Weather Longevity will be the ultimate test.

Installed using better anchors than what was included. Rolls nicely, we now use a hose made of an inner rubber sleeve an outer fabric/tear resistance flexible material. which makes the hose much lighter and will likely extend the life of the hose reel. The bottom roller I assume is for the hose as it is pulled in and out..USELESS.. if the unit so mounts ON the wall, the likely direction of use would make sense in most applications to the left or right,...not directly outward, here are no rollers on the ends, so it will either rub and wear the hose on the edgy plastic or one must bypass it and pull the hose out manually ..weird design. The retention slide is cheap plastic and may break once the sun makes it brittle over time. It is a nice improvement over a plastic stand and roll up design such as this replaced, and I will recommend it based on its function and ease to install.

No matter what I do, when I attach the hose and bend it 90 degrees the hose, because of poor quality, will collapse at the 90 degree bend, resulting in little or not water flow. Ended up buying a 90 degree poly barbed coupling with two hose clamps and then cut the hose at the 90 degree bent which fixed the problem. Picture attached showing the collapsed hose.

Wall mount is perfect. It keeps my backyard clean and organized. 5 STARS☆

Extremely cheap plastic. After only a couple days the sides of the reel showed deformation just from the weight of the garden hose. A month later the center portion of the reel cracked.

This is my 2nd unit I have installed in 10 years on a sunny side of the house. They won't hold up forever in this Texas heat but they are easy to replace and the design has not changed. For the price it is the best answer and I use the reel almost daily. The reel has never failed just the bracket cracks. May apply a coat of paint over this bracket to see if it will foil the sun. Keeps the hose manageable and the yard neat.

Just like everyone elses mine broke at the mount and no, it dosent hold 100ft of hose. Dont waste your money on this.

I am very surprised that the buyer for this Home Depot department continues to purchase this item. I purchased one 18 months ago and the mounting back snapped off from the weight of the 100 ft hose after 8 months. I called manufacturer. They said that never happens! They made me dig out my receipt. They did send replacement part. After 8 more months, guess what... same thing. I just threw it out!

I purchased this without reading any of the reviews while browsing at the store. This is very poor quality, and broke after only about two years. Something to consider: if you have to drill holes in your holes to mount this, then you will have to replace with the same product or otherwise will have some patching to do. I do not recommend this product. It was not very high priced but I expected it to last more than two years, especially given that I did not use it that much.

Installed with no problem and works great. I screwed a piece of wood to a 5 foot long sq. tube and screwed the reel to that.

I'm on a budget, but I also don't have a lot of time. So a hose reel saves a bit of my time. This reel was inexpensive, and easy to use. I don't expect it to last forever, but right now - it's great.

I have had similar to the ones I ordered for years (±20) w/out a problem. Time and use worn them out. They don't look so "powerful" but they are.

I've bought this reel 3 times over the years simply because it fits and works well in the space I have. Expect it to only last a couple of seasons before it breaks, especially if you plan on winching a 100 foot hose on it. Also, the "O" rings leak. I think that the plastic just warps over time from seasonal temperature changes and stress.

With my first one, I thought my kids broke it because they would always grab it when chasing easy other or climbing. Kids grown, so bought a second one. In less than a year, the top mount cracked (see photo). After reading the reviews, I now know it was poor design, materials, and workmanship that caused the crack. Hopefully Suncast will honor their 3 year warranty.

Easy to mount. I replaced the connecting hose with a washer hose to prevent kinking. Reel broke loose after about a year of infrequent use. I suspect this was due to hose being pulled off the reel at an angle. It's necessary to feed the hose thru the bottom guide to prevent sideloading. Also pull the hose in by hand when reeling it up to prevent loading on the reel. I suppose if you treat it very carefully it would last a couple of years...but then you might as well just buy a hanger and coil the hose by hand
