      A:  Yes. It makes a ticking/clicking sound when activated. It is not too loud, though.

        A:  Yes, it ticks quietly as it winds down. You have to put your ear to it to hear the ticking.

                  Q:Are the dimensions on the image in the description accurate? 8.2" seems a little tall for a "standard" switch plate. Is the overall height actually closer to 4.5" and the face place closer to 2.5" tall?

                  A:  It is a standard mounting just like a residential switch or outlet. In fact it’s designed as a replacement for a standard switch. The bezel it comes with showing the time set/remaining time uses a toggle switch cover plate and the lock nut provided. Simple. Effective. I’ve had one dial timer working for 27 years since I moved here and installed it
