Q:Do I need to turn off the main water supply prior to removing the old exterior faucet assembly and replacing it with the Woodford assembly kit parts?

Q:the blue piece doesn't have the same drilled wholes the other ends to. if this is a middle piece how does the water flow through? or did I just get a messed up piece?

A: Water doesn't flow through the rod, it goes around it.

A: As pictured in the kit, correct, the blue piece should have three holes, two for the pins/clips. If one of them is missing and they need it to match up the length you can contact Woodford Manufacturing at 1-800-308-0864 and they can assist. Apologize for the inconvienence. A: Make sure to flush the line and also making sure the rod check valve size matches the valve stem being replaced, ie. 10 in., 12 in. rod, etc. Woodford customer service can assist at 800-308-0864.

A: When I started pulling out the old rod, it broke off the valve stem. I did not have any special tools to retrieve the stem, I remembered I had a "LOCKTITE" brand glue, in my garage, that supposedly binds metal to metal. I piled a glob to the end of the separated rod and slowly reattached it to the valve stem. I waited a few minutes and very slowly pulled on the rod. I could feel the valve stem moving out. Finally --voila!

A: You can call Woodford at 1-800-308-0864 and ask to have a rod removal tool shipped out to be able to remove the broken rod.

A: A pair of pliers or crescent wrnech will work to remove the brass packing nut. Be sure to turn off the water supply to the faucet before removing the brass packing nut!
