A: Not sure about cabins. Have used last several years on three lake docks and redwood house deck. Best natural stain and weather proofing product I have found. I have to order online because not available in stores in New England. Good luck hope it helps.
A: sure
A: I use on our house that has cedar siding, I suggest using the clear which has a dark tint. It is the best oil based stain that I have tried. It will last 3 to 5 years on the exposed sides that get direct sun.
A: Absolutely. Much more affordable than conventional log cabin oils. We have been using this for 20 years with great success. We typically have to reapply every 5 years. Southern and western exposures typically bleach out quicker than northern and eastern exposures. Good luck.
A: Depending on what your using, lodge pole pine or Douglas fir. I would definitely do some testing. The oil based works very well with cedar siding, decking, and fencing.
A: If the logs used to build the cabin have been debarked, I would think that the application of this product to the exterior surface would probably work well. I would not suggest, however, that it be used for an interior application, due to the evaporation of the volatiles used in the product. It takes approximately 2-3 months for the odour to dissipate, because the vessel members and fibres in the wood seem to very efficiently absorb the product through capillary action. It is a very good product, and will not need a a recoating for up to 3 years, even in the harsh winters of upstate New York.

A: YES 4 AND IS REALLY GOOD STUFF Lasts longer than any other that I tried over the years
A: It is oil based
A: We are here to help, John! Rust-Oleum Wolman Finish and Preservative is an oil-based finish. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3
A: Oil based stain and sealer. great for at least 2 yrs of protection in bright sunlight areas and nice color. but you cannot apply this over the old coat until you sand off some of old stain because it will not penetrate the previous coat because the previous coat is blocking penetration. needs good prep work.
A: Hi James, we do not recommend adding any colorant to our Wolman F & P, however, this finish is available in darker colors, such as Redwood: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Wolman-1-Gal-Redwood-F-and-P-Finish-and-Preservative-Case-of-4-14406/204068169 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
A: I believe it can be purchased in darker colors but regarding darkening the Natural Wood finish, I have not tried so I think the paint department people could best answer that question.
A: You shouldnt add anything cause it changes the mixture. You can darker colors already made.
A: Yes, it adds a gold-honey like tint, but clear enough to keep the main look of your wood and grain. Much more impressive than the standard clear sealant.
A: Happy to clear things up! Rust-Oleum Wolman F&P Wood Stain Finish and Preservative is a tinted oil that brings out wood's natural grain while also providing long-term water, UV, and mold/mildew protection. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3
A: Checked in stores when we first looked for it and it was not available, been ordering online for 10 years.
A: I was not able to find it in any stores around me so I had to order it online. I searched for stores an hour north, east, and south of me as well.

A: I ordered online- Really great product- I have used it on my porch for 10 years. I highly recommend. My pine floor look great!
A: we buy it online home depot... gets delivered to home quite quick
A: Yes, I applied it with an airless sprayer on my fence.
A: Yes. Shake well and make sure no debris or loose items in sealant when put in sprayer. Sprayer tips can glog easily. Do edges by two inches or more with brush so you don’t over spray. Not easy to get overspray off. Use mineral spirits otherwise to clean for oil base sealants. I had a business for 10 yrs about 12 years ago that only used and still refer F&P. Still best product. Natural was best seller with my clients.
A: Yes, goes quickly with sprayer
A: We like how you think. Rust-Oleum Wolman F&P Finish and Preservative can be applied with a natural or synthetic bristle brush, paint pad, pump sprayer, or airless sprayer. When spraying, work on a 30 to 40 square foot area at a time, making sure to backbrush along the grain any drips, runs, uneven coverage or surface puddles. Do not over-saturate surface with product or allow to puddle to prevent shiners, tackiness, excessive drying time or uneven appearance when dry. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5
A: Yes, sprayed house and decks, goes on fast.
A: The container says it can. I used those skinny 6inch rollers with 1/2 inch napp and dunked the roller right in the can. I have standard 6inch pressure treated wood decking and this approach worked great and was fast. I used a paint tray for excess. The 1/2 napp lets you get the sides of the boards with minimum brush work.
A: I waited 8 months before using this product on my porch. I had no problems with the wood soaking up the stain.
A: Thank you for reaching out! Our Wolman F&P Finish and Preservative may be applied to new wood surfaces. It is important to open wood pores and remove any surface barrier which would prevent the proper penetration or adhesion of a new coating. We recommend cleaning the surface using our Wolman DeckBrite, then conduct a splash test after the surface is clean and dry to ensure water will absorb into the surface of the wood. If the wood is not absorbing water sprinkled on the surface, we recommend allowing it to dry for 30 days, then testing with a splash test again to ensure water will penetrate the wood. Once the wood is absorbing water droplets readily, the F&P may be applied to the surface. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Wolman-1-lb-DeckBrite-Wood-Cleaner-and-Coating-Prep-Case-of-6-16001/204744697 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
A: Thank you for reaching out! The VOC content of our oil-based Wolman F&P Finish and Preservative exceeds the limits set by the state of California. We recommend using a similar water-based product, such as our Restore 12x Transparent Cedar Stain & Sealant: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Restore-1-Gallon-12X-Transparent-Cedar-Stain-and-Sealant-291630/205854080 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
A: No California is too progressive for this product.
A: I cannot answer your question concerning California since I live in New Hampshire. However, if Home Depot ships it to California then it must be legal in California
A: Yes. I live in Corona Ca. and picked it up at the Corona HD.
A: you can use F & P anywhere you want to. If you do not apply the product too thick it will not be slippery. Follow the directions on the can and wipe off any shiny areas a few hours after applying
A: Wolmans F&P is an awesome product. However, it is oil based and can take a fair amount of time to fully absorb into the surface it is applied to - up to a week depending on environmental conditions. During that time, it may be slippery in a pool deck application. It WILL last a long time and have a really nice finish. Just take the “cure” time into account.
