Q:Is the unit self evaporating or do we have to drain the water in a bucket regularly?

          Answer This Question

A:  It would be ideal to connect the included plastic hose from the upper drain and running it to a container of some sort

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  This model is self evap, but that doesn't mean you'll never have to empty it, depending on your climate. It still comes equipped with a drain pan, and the unit will shut off if the pan fills up. I live in Nevada, And I never had to drain it.

            by|May 4, 2023

A:  It is self evap, but if you live in a very humid climate, you might still have to drain it. It just depends on how much moisture it's pulling out of the air.

Q:Product Info says "Two drain methods: Continuous and Manual"....what does this mean?

            Answer This Question

A:  OK RN, in continuous mode you have a hose connected to drain port so the water can drain to wherever you have the other end of the hose. The water will drain "continuously" by gravity so you will have to keep that in mind when running the hose. In the case the hose gets pinched, clogged by dust ball, or basically fails to drain the water, you will lose your continuous mode of draining and will have to resort to manual which requires elbow grease and emptying your portable AC drip pan by hand using pots, cups, rags, or by whatever means necessary. All this water that needs to be drained came from the air in the room. It just accumulates on the AC.

Q:If the room has no windows could this ac be used?

                Answer This Question

A:  You ask a good question and the answer was a little misleading. This portable AC unit like ALL AC units you going to find will have a cooling duct and a hot air duct. Obviously you want to cool the room so you would be interested in the cooling air duct to do so. In the meanwhile, you have a hot air duct on the AC unit. It is the hot air duct you are asking whether it should be vented through a window. While it doesn't necessarily need to be vented through a window, it most certainly needs to be vented somewhere otherwise you this portable AC unit like all AC units, will be cooling and heating your room at the same time.. And that wont cool your room down. So yes, you need to vent the hot air using the ventilation hoses they give you. And to keep your AC unit from overheating, you cannot bent or crimp the exhaust line without risk to overheating your unit. They also don't want you to angle the vent hose by more than 45 degrees or block the vent, or extend the length of the vent line or you risk overheating the unit. You may want to look at the installation manual. Gives you all the good info you need for installation. Have you looked at how loud this unit will be. Might want to check that out as well while you are shopping. If it is load as a lawnmower, you might want to look at something else. So no, you don't need a window, but you need somewhere to vent the hot air coming out.
