      by|Jul 10, 2015
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  RUEOLDGIRL, There isn't necessarily "special" cookware that you have to use with Induction, but there is specific cookware that must be used. Only ferromagnetic pans can be used for induction cooking. Ferromagnetic materials include: ■ Enameled steel ■ Cast iron ■ Stainless steel designed for induction cooking Non-ferromagnetic materials include: These types of pans will not work with induction cooking. ■ Stainless steel ■ Glass ■ Ceramic ■ Copper or aluminum pans To find out whether your pans can be used with an induction cooktop, flip the pan over, hold a magnet to the bottom of the pan, and see whether it sticks. If the magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan, the pan is ferromagnetic and can be used for induction cooking. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance.

A:  Just stick a regular magnet to the bottom of the pan. If it sticks, it will work with the induction range.

A:  Yes all pots should be ferromagnetic and should be FLAT on the bottom, if your pan is warped it will not work

                  by|May 3, 2023

A:  Catface, There are specific pots and pans that need to be used for an induction cooktop. Many times however, customers have pots and pans that will already work. Basically, if your pot and/or pan is magnetic on the bottom, then it will work with induction. You can perform this test simply by placing a magnet on the bottom of the pot or pan to verify. See below for more detail. Thank you for viewing this Whirlpool home appliance. IMPORTANT: This range has induction cooktop elements. Pan size, material and positioning are very important to achieve the best results. See the “Induction Cooking” section before using the cooktop. Only ferromagnetic pans can be used for induction cooking. Ferromagnetic materials include: ■ Enameled steel ■ Cast iron ■ Stainless steel designed for induction cooking To find out whether your pans can be used with an induction cooktop, flip the pan over, hold a magnet to the bottom of the pan, and see whether it sticks. If the magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan, the pan is ferromagnetic and can be used for induction cooking.
