A: I am not a doctor or in the field of medicine so I can only offer up my experiences. I have applied this product around my house and in front of my deck, We sit out on our deck a lot during the spring and summer months. I does have a little bit of an oder upon initial application. I have found wetting it down accelerates the process. I definitely do not find a problem the next spring. I have applied it in the back yard. I surrounded my trees with regular mulch and applied the perimeter with rubberized mulch. You need in all cases to drop a weed guard before applying rubberized mulch. Seams to work for me. I have used about 75 bags so far to cover my desired area. About 2.inches deep. Sometimes a little more. A lot less than 3 inches needed for regular mulch. Hope this helps answer your initial question and a little more.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question! The amount of mulch required would depend on the depth you are trying to achieve. We also do not recommend placing this material around a pool. The chemicals used in a pool can affect the color of the product which could also void the warranty. For more information, please contact 866-963-8524.
