Questions and Answers for Maxx Air 1300 CFM Mill Electric Powered Gable Mount Electric Attic Fan

A:  This unit can be set to an on/off switch. We recommend consulting a licensed electrician for any electrical questions.

A:  The unit is designed to be hard wired. I suppose you could add an extension cord to plug it into the wall, but I would recommend hard wiring it with an on/off switch. My fan was a replacement that I mounted over a louvered vinyl gable vent.

A:  The vinyl gable vent will stay open all the time where as the louver gable vent is designed to close by gravity when the fan shuts off. This fan is also hardwired and not intended to be plugged in. The feed wire would go into the box with the thermostat switch (the box at the end of the whip you see in the picture. However, if you choose to install a cord with an AC plug on the end of it, it could be made to ' plug in'.

A:  We recommend using our louvers because they work to let no access debris and protect from the elements. No, this unit does not plug into a wall outlet, it is wired directly.

A:  This does not have a basic two prong power cord. It has wires that can be connected using twist wire connector. If you use zip cord and run it to a wall socket, especially down through the wall,  it probably is not acceptable. An electrician should wire it up properly with the correct wires to electrical box.

A:  YES..you set it for what temp.

A:  Yes it does. It is thermally activated and you can adjust the on/off setpoint.

A:  The thermostat on the fan works very well very easy to install

A:  It has an automatic thermostat you set. When it hits that temp it turns on. When it's cooler it turns off.

A:  You can set this unit up with one of our thermostats.

A:  It is pretty flimsy and rattles and vibrates. We can hear it above my office ceiling. The thermocouple seems to work fine. Shuts off when the temp drops to setting comes on when the temp gets up in the morning. Pay higher and get a more solid unit.

A:  Not too sure what you are asking here. If the fan will fit into the existing installation. It should be fine.

A:  The label on the motor of my unit says 3.4A at 120 volts, which would be 408 watts.

A:  312 watts in operation or 2.6 amps at 120V.

A:  Sure if you can find one. The thermostat is nothing more than a switch so a humidistat would just work in junction with or instead of, and should work fine.

A:  You could switch out the thermostat with a humidistat, but may require adding a plug to the line from the fan and removing the thermastat that comes with this unit. You can buy the fan and the thermostat separately if you don't need both. You can't run both a humidistat and thermostat simultaneously because one of them would need to be a priority. I had a bad motor and an unreliable thermostat. I was able to install these in the existing roof vent- which was a real time-saver. Thermostat is a bit sensitive to set.

A:  This has a built in thermostat. If you knew the wiring scheme you could replace it with a humidistat.

A:  Yes and no, yes, you need to cut a hole to let the air out and fitted the louvre. No, you do not have to remove the entire siding to do that, just the area you need to fit the louvre.

A:  There is no way to answer this question without seeing your house. These are gable mount fans, which typically have vents. 

A:  No , you no need to do so . This fan will be installed from inside the attack .

A:  You need to have a hole for the air to exit. an existing vent opening may work fine.
