A: Hello Dave, This valve requires pressure to open. It should not be installed in a drain line. Drain lines operate from gravity.

The PVC check valve requires 900g (31.75 ozf) to open. If your pump emits at least that much pressure, you should be good to go.

This check valve is not recommended for use on gravity drain lines. It takes pressure to open the valve.

A: If this is spring loaded I would say no. Other types have a flapper style mechanism which would work better for gravity feed.
