The perforated screen should keep out most flying insects however if you want a fully sealed door which would seal out crawling insects we would suggest installing a door seal kit with the security door. A:  Yes the screen has very small perforations. It keeps the bugs out and allows the air to flow. I paid extra for installation and they did a great job. Installers added weatherstripping at the bottom for a bug proof seal

It does have the option for different colors of the perforated screen and these are Black, Almond, or Tan. The door itself is only available in Tan. We would suggest you visit your local Home Depot store and speak with a mill work associate who can show you our complete line which includes many special order doors available in custom sizes and colors.
