Q:I recently bought 6 bags, all of which say on the label that they’re “perforated” and picture pulling the insulation into strips. None of the three bags I’ve opened so far have any perforated bats. Are these defective? They’re almost impossible to cut into strips for narrow bays.

A:  My point exactly. Everything I've seen online says that there are some perforated bats in each bag. I got six bags, all of which *said* perforated, that is 30 bats, none perforated. You can cut them with a circular saw or table saw, but it's 10 times the mess.

A:  Mine were perforated lengthwise, with a thin and thick strip, relative to typical size of the gaps between studs.

A:  I don’t remember quite well, but I think in the bags it says that “most” of the pieces within the bag are pre-cutted, but not all. The pieces in the bags I bougth were exactly like that: some perforated and some not. As per how to cut to size, I just ended tearing them with my hands, no tools needed, and they ripped easy, even for narrow lanes. Don’t expect perfect, clean cuts thou. I hope it helps

A:  My bags did have the perforated bats. Some were wider than others. It seems like it was a different assortment per bag. Like two pieces could be broken down into three, 1 was whole, and 1 could be broken into two.
