A: it was pre assambled when i get it

A: Actually it does require assembly: the handle is not connected to the shovel (base). And I can't figure out if I'm supposed to slide it through the clips up top first or first slide the legs down into the base. Either way the pieces don't align and I don't want to break something trying to force it.

Q:Does this have a steel blade along the tip? I have one of these with a steel blade along the tip and used it for the last 10 years... Corners are now worn through and shovel is worn thin from pushing snow. For durability, I want one with the steel tip.

A: yes

A: Not sure if it is steel, but it is metal of some type, maybe aluminum. My previous one had metal too but when it came off it was very malleable so I assumed aluminum

A: I found a nice piece of metal strip from work and used it to replace the worn out one. I simply drilled and tapped the screw in and then grinded it down flush. Works like a new one and even better.

A: I've had my SnoBoss for about 3 years and never had an issue with the rivets coming off. The blade is still on my shovel and we've had some bad winters with several feet of snow in one day. Could this be a new issue? Or maybe it has to do with how each person uses it? I tend not to do heavy scraping, but more pushing/plowing the snow bearing weight on the plastic part of the shovel. This shovel has saved my back. The only thing I'd like better is if the blade was sharper and can scrape wet/sticky snow down to the pavement to prevent the driveway from icing over. Works fine on fluffy snow as is.

A: You are 100% correct. The metal strip on my shovel lasted half the winter before the rivets just wore out. I don't know about any plans to correct the problem but I do know that the shovel is not worth buying. It's a shame too, because otherwise it is a good design. "Don't buy it." is my advice

A: I have owned my shovel for the past three years and it has not lost a rivet. I have done several snow clean ups at my house and all is well. I will have to check ii out

A: The wear strip design was improved to prevent the rivets from making contact with the surface while shoveling.
