Q:I would like to use this post to replace a 4x4 wood post that has rotted. My question is can I screw the 2x4 cross boards into it like the original fence? It's just one post that I need to replace.

          1 Answer
          Answer This Question

A:  The thickness of a Trex post allows most fasteners to be attached. In fact, the Trex Fencing bracket is fastened with 1-5/8" wood exterior screws, so attaching 2x4 rails with brackets or directly to the posts will work.

Q:Do these posts need to have a 4 x 4 pressure treated post or an aluminum post inside of them for strength?

            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  The fence posts do not require internal reinforcement except for gate hinge posts and fences taller than 8'. The internal dimension of the post is 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" which allows it to be used interchangeably as a standalone post or sleeve, if desired.
