A: Yes it can. It is a floating floor and can be laid over any flat surface. Perfect for bathroom because it's water proof. I installed it in my bath two years ago and it looks as good as the day I put it down. Because of the lips on the locking edges it takes a bit longer to install because you want to make sure it is locked in the full length of the plank.
A: Thanks for your question. The Allure Ultra can be installed over sheet vinyl (as long as it's fully glued down and not cushion backed) as well as glued down/ peel and stick tiles. It cannot be installed over floating vinyl planks or tiles, or any other floating floor.
A: If the existing floor is flat enough it should work just fine. I would suggest that you get a wax ring and plan to remove the toilet bowl as part of the installation process.
A: We installed it over vinyl in both our bathrooms with water barrier cloth between them they are beautiful and you don’t here the sound of people walking as much so I say why not
A: Thanks for your question. Our products do not contain any formaldehyde. This is a 100% virgin vinyl plank and does not have a formaldehyde emissions rating like composite woods and laminates.
A: The Allure is very easy to trim simply by scoring the line and snapping very similar to Sheetrock. For close lines, I used a jig saw.
A: box cutter works fine
A: Having installed this vinyl plank flooring as well as others I have found that a sharp razor knife works best as suggested by the installation instructions to score the piece and then snap it at the scored line by bending the piece. I use a piece of the flooring turned upside down as a backing to cut on and a framing square as the straight edge. I actually have a plastic framing square that I use specifically for cutting vinyl plank flooring that I have cut at the lip edge so I can use the palm of my hand to press it down against the piece firmly and hold it in place during cutting.
A: Primarily, I used a utility knife with a SHARP blade for most of the cuts. Just flip the plank around backwards to where you are placing the plank to measure the length you need, score it a time or two with the knife. (Recommend marking the needed cut with a pencil and then using a long straight blade as a cut guide) Then, bend at the cut and it should snap apart as you bend it. Also, I used a jig saw (not needed but I preferred) for small precision cuts around doorways. I used a table saw on some but not necessary. Just use whatever you have handy and I think the instruction also cover this. Home Depot has some good videos and you can always "You Tube" it.
A: Thanks for your question. We recommend a sharp utility knife. Sounds crazy but if you score it a few times, the plank will snap and you're not stuck cleaning up messes from saws, etc.
A: you can use a miter saw, table saw, hand saw ,all will work fine.
A: The weight is 4.95 pounds.
A: Thank you for your question-The weight per carton is 40.7 lbs
A: The cartons I purchased weighed about 40 pounds each, plus the weight of the cardboard box and the shipping box it was delivered in. The weight listed on the web page product information is per plank, with eight planks per box (in my order). While it takes a bit of deciphering, the technical data sheet (TDS) for each product can be helpful.
A: I'm sure the weight is a spec on the website or on the box in the store. Each box was fairly heavy.
A: Thanks for your question. There's never an instance where you'll have to glue the planks together. Just join them together as you normally would.
A: Thank you for your question- No, this product does not require a underlayment.
A: flooring should be installed over solid level sub-flooring. i.e. plywood
A: They said there is no need to moisture barrier or underlayment so I went with the bare OSB installation and this floor on top. If you are really, really concerned, you should probably use a 20 mil plastic barrier but this floor is basically plastic (I agree: with so many seams and joints, some gap will be enough to let water in)
A: Thank you for your question-If you are installing on wood, then no, do not use a moisture barrier. If you are installing over concrete, you can use the moisture barrier, but it is not required.
A: I would not recommend it. A mobile home floor has a certain amount of flex which doesn't play nice with these floors. They tend to separate at the seams. If this is a summer home and not a permanent home, it is not to be used in an unheated environment.
A: Thank you for your question- You can only go over 1 layer of vinyl in good condition. If it has a deep pattern or embossing greater than 1/8", it must be skim coated with a floor leveler.
A: Yes, you can lay Allure Ultra over your vinyl floor. If you need to fill a low place in the floor, I would use a floor leveling compound. Roberts makes one that should work.
A: Thanks for your question. The finish is more of a matte, very slightly verging on satin, finish. If you're familiar with paint finishes, it's almost an eggshell. If you order a sample or find one in your store, the finish of it will be the finish of the planks.
A: Low gloss
A: Kim, I would say that it has a very low gloss finish which I absolutely love.
A: The floor has a low gloss shine to it...... My local HD is had sample pieces of this floor as well as other sample pieces on their special order items. I suggest you visit the store and look at the sample pieces before you pull the trigger.
A: It’s a low gloss in my opinion. My floor is in my finished basement and I love it.1
A: I feel that it could be used in that type of environment. I put it in my game room and it has been holding up very well. My kids and dogs are on it all the time. Spills clean up very easily.
A: Yes, Allure Ultra is made of vinyl and is water proof.
A: I would say no. Even though it's water proof the change in temperature will cause your planks to flex and bow.
A: We just installed this floor in June in our enclosed deck in Florida. The windows are very rarely open so the floor has not been exposed to any water coming in. However, It has been exposed to extreme heat and is fine. The floor is beautiful and basically maintenance free. We get many compliments. I would highly recommend this in a high traffic area or a porch with windows.
A: I love this floor, I previously had laminate and had to deal with spills which ruined the laminate...with this floor the kids come in the house straight from the pool and there is nothing to worry about
A: Thank you for your question-This product is not suitable for any outside use, sunrooms/solariums, saunas, or rooms that have the potential of flooding. We also highly recommend you do not install in rooms or homes that are not temperature controlled. You MUST store allure® horizontally in the room of installation for 48 hours prior to installation. Be sure the room temperature is between 65º & 85º F. Do not remove the planks from the case during this acclimation period! Maintain this temperature during installation
A: No, this flooring should be used indoors and in temperature-controlled environments only.
