Q:Depending on my need, can I use any Toro nozzle on the sprinkler body 53820 (3 in. pop-up)? For example, can I use any of these nozzles on this body - 53858, 53861, 53890, 53864, 53867 for varying distances of spray with full pattern, or even the nozzles with 180 degrees or 90 degrees pattern? What about the ones with adjustable pattern?

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, you can use them all. The matched precipitation rate is maintained across all of our MPR nozzles. The variable nozzles are designed to fill in where a fixed pattern doesn’t cover perfectly.

Q:Does Home Depot carry Toro 570Z series 3 in. pop-up 15 ft. 360 degrees spray (item no. 53817)? I am not finding this item in the website of Home Depot. Instead can I use 53818? If yes, does it come with the nozzle and the filter? Or do I have to buy the nozzle and filter separately?

A:  Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will figure out why model 53817 isn’t showing up online. You have two options: Yes, you can use model 53818. This is a 3” popup with a 15’ variable nozzle and filter pre-attached. Your second option would be to use models 53820 and 53867 (combination is a model 53817) – 3” body-only and 15’ pressure compensating 360 degree nozzle. I would suggest the latter option if you are installing the spray in a zone that uses other Toro fixed spray heads/nozzles.

            Answer This Question

A:  Toro does not make MP Rotator nozzles. Toro makes PRN’s, Precision Rotating Nozzles, that are adjustable from 14’ to 26’ radii. PRN Models #53900 - male thread nozzle, full – Fits Toro pop up sprays #53925 - male thread nozzle, adjustable from 45 to 270 degrees – Fits Toro pop up sprays #53898 - female thread nozzle, full - Fits non-Toro pop up sprays #53899 - female thread nozzle, adjustable from 45 to 270 degrees – Fits non-Toro pop up sprays

Q:It popped up, but water was spraying straight up and way out on both sides, across the walk - way too much water. It is more powerful than the original pop-ups my irrigation guy installed along the line of shrubs against my fence. They all pop up about 3"and spray 1/2 circle in a nicely controlled manner. Those are marked Toro 570. Is the 570z a different sprinkler head or is an adjustment needed?

                  Answer This Question

A:  The “Z” in 570Z just stands for “Zero Flush”. There is not a difference in flow through a 570Z versus a 570. The direction of the spray can be adjusted by twisting the stem (the part that pops up during operation) until your pattern lines up with the area to be irrigated. The radius can be reduced by turning the small screw on the top of the nozzle in a clockwise direction. The pattern on a ½ pattern nozzle is static.

                    Answer This Question

A:  It sounds as though the adjustment screw somehow became tightened down. Take a small screw driver and turn the screw on the top of the nozzle counter clockwise. This should open up the flow and allow the nozzle to spray correctly.

                          Answer This Question

A:  Sprinklers do not have “valves” incorporated into them. Each “zone” (or section) of an irrigation system is fed by a single valve that flows water to each head in the zone. Some taller/longer sprays have dual inlets that allow you to choose whether you connect your water source from the bottom or side of the pop-up, but those inlets are not designed to function as outlets to feed other emission devices (sprinklers or drip components).

A:  Pop-up sprinklers (Sprays) do not have outlet lines. Water is fed in through the bottom of the sprinkler body (or from the side in some 6” – 12” models) and it exits through the nozzle.

A:  There's only a Inlet line at the bottom where you screw it onto the 1/2" PVC riser.
