A:  You can trim the bottom of a solid wood door, but care needs to be taken to prevent splintering of the wood and damaging the finish of the remaining door. There are helpful websites that explain how to do this.

A:  Entry doors are constructed with an outer solid wood styles (vertical pieces) and rails (horizontal pieces). Cutting off 1 1/2 inches will severely weaken the doors outer frame and the door will fail (fall apart) Mike
